Diner Reviews
  • "The food was good, but the portions are small, so you end up ordering multiple entrees which dilutes the value to a degree."

  • "Distrito is still great but it has come down a little to me due to the menu change. I'm just sad the old menu changed but do understand that you have to tweak the menu to create profit and keep the doors open. Food is still fantastic, service still good & the noise level is always fine as it is always pleasant, energetic & people having a great time. If you haven't been, go."

  • "First, let me just say, I hate "modern tapas" type restaurants. It's just a way for restaurants to overprice their food, so that an entree costs about $55. I was not aware Distrito was a tapas style restaurant. The food was "ok", nice presentation, really cool looking bar, great service, extremely overpriced for tapas (i.e. $10 for chips and salsa, $20 for a small tapas dish). We ordered a pitcher of margaritas and it was $60. For two people we spent $200. It is doubtful I will return."

  • "waiter gave us the check without asking if we would like dessert. out of iced tea, gave lemonade instead, and was charges $4.00 for it….beverage was included in the $15.00 lunch special. felt like bait and switch…;o(. food was fun!!!!"

  • "My husband and I were celebrating a wedding anniversary with the kids and other relatives and chose DISTRITO because we knew that everyone would find something that they liked on the menu. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun. The restaurant even brought out a special treat at the end for the table and that was a nice, unexpected touch. Great place to celebrate!"

  • "Excellent food and margaritas. Cool vibe, relaxing atmosphere where the food doesn't suffer like many Mexican themed places. Ceviche & tacos to die for."

  • "We had a group of 8 and the wait staff was very attentive and the food was amazing."

  • "Everything we ordered was excellent. Favorite dish of the night was the tuna ceviche with sorbet. Can't wait to go back to try other dishes on the menu. Also fun atmosphere and decor."

  • "Our table was in the taxi cab and the overall experience was 1,000x times more enjoyable. Neon pink lighting, tapas menu, genuine and funny wait staff, and very boozy pitchers makes for a fantastic evening"

  • "If you like tapas style dining. This place is great! The food is very good and the service is outstanding. There margaritas are the bomb as well. They have the biggest tequila list I've ever seen."

  • "The decor of this restaurant is awesome! We got the guacomole, mojitos, and mahi mahi tacos. So delicious! I will definitely be going back."

  • "Just not impressed with the food or the service. The drinks were great. This place survives on hype alone and is very disappointing for a Garces restaurant. Our server disappeared forever. She forgot the second drink for my wife and felt so bad that she took her first drink off. She meant well but when we needed things, she was not there."

  • "I've been trying new and exciting Mexican recipes for well over twenty years. I've dined on the east coast, west coast, mid-west, and even parts of Europe looking for a good Mexican dish. Distrito is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant on the East Coast (just couldn't beat my favorite Seattle restaurant, Oaxaca). We loved the modern twist and the plated-to-share system. We wanted a low-key anniversary and chose Dostrito because we both really love Mexican. Everything from our chips and salsa to our enchiladas to our corn bread and delicious dessert was on point. We were even wished happy anniversary by several of the employees and our dessert was brought out with a candle! I'd eat here every day if I could."

  • "I have eaten at other Jose Garces restaurants and generally liked them. My problem with Distrito is that the food was not flavorful enough. I took my niece and her husband out for the husband's birthday. My niece and I are both native Texans and all three of us have been all over the world so this is not just a hankering for chiles, onion and cheese. My nephew grew up in Taiwan. Many of the dishes were bland. The steak nachos were just grease. The wait staff were accommodating and everything else was great but we went there for the food."

  • "My server Jarrod was excellent. He helped me with the menu and made great suggestions for the drink selection. He knew the menu and was helpful describing the food to me."

  • "We were excited to try Distrito after reading some good reviews. We are big fans of Mexican and were eager to try the food. I will start by saying that the service was great-everyone was very friendly and attentive. Additionally, food and drink were served quickly. The margaritas were very good. I must say, however, that we were disappointed with the food. Nearly everything we ordered was heavy on the grease when it arrived at our table. I realize that some is inevitable due to the ingredients being used, however, the grease seemed a bit excessive. Additionally, we were hoping for better flavors from the food. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bland or bad tasting, but we were expecting some great flavor combinations, which we didn't fully get."

  • "This restaurant is very nice. The lights were a bit dim. The seating was interesting. After a margarita the swinging seats aren't such a great idea. The margaritas are very good! Food is average but there is a good variety of things. The server was very nice and accommodating especially since I had a bit of an annoying crowd. Overall the restaurant was pretty good. "

  • "The food and service was very nice! We grabbed dinner there before a concert because it was close to the Mann Center. At 5pm the parking was easy to get, got seated right away, had very efficient and attentive service and food was great! "

  • "The food was phenomenal, especially the guac! And the menu had so many outstanding choices that we were torn on what to order - we wanted to order everything ... we'll be coming back for sure. The service was excellent and overall the place had a great vibe!"

  • "Distrito is usually a lot more crowded it seems the memorial day weekend kept a lot of people home! Service was, as always, very good. We enjoyed our meal. Great night out. "

  • "Guacamole was excellent, kids loved the decor, chicken tacos not the greatest, but the chicken w melted cheese and kale was delicious... "

  • "We ordered the Diego Rivera tasting menu, but asked for some customization due to dietary restrictions. They were fine with our restrictions and we had a large and delicious meal of inventive Mexican food. "

  • "Distrito was a pleasant surprise on all ends. The decor and food were perfect for a Mother's Day celebration. The Nacho Libre movie on the second floor added extra fun to the wall of masks! I would definitely go again!"

  • "The food is amazing and the open floor set up is very welcoming. It's definitely eclectic and a fun place to sit and enjoy the day."

  • "Distrito is probably the least expensive restaurant of the restaurants owned by Iron Chef Jose Garces, but it is still quite expensive for us. Including tax and tip, we spent $70 on brunch for 2 (we both had a glass of sangria, so it would have been less if we just had water). Though it's not a place we could afford to go very often, the food is absolutely delicious and the service is excellent. The wait staff are relaxed but polite and very attentive. I can be a bit of a picky eater and usually remove items from my food that I don't like (radishes, red cabbage, avocado) but when I go to Distrio I just trust that everything is there for a reason and eat it anyway and it's always amazing. I recommend the toritalla soup and Mahi tacos."

  • "Fantastic meal that we were still talking about two days after we'd eaten it. Great flavors and fresh takes on old staples with out getting gimmicky. My teems loved the decor, which makes the place feel as much a destination as a completely delightful eating experience. Out wait staff were attentive, straightforward and pleasant. "

  • "We were first introduced to Distrito at their Scottsdale location. A different beast all together-quiet and intimate. The PHL location is much more lively and loud, with a fun and celebratory atmosphere. Same great food but the service wasn't as attentive and atmosphere was just vastly different. The food is unique and memorable, and the fish tacos will leave you craving the cabbage relish the morning after."

  • "Garces group but nothing special- average Mexican food at fine dining prices! Drinks were better!!!"
    Dined on 5/5/2014
  • "This restaurant has great ambiance. Bright bold colors and contemporary decor. The food is good and the guacamole and margaritas are some of the best I've ever had. However service is somewhat lacking and the portion sizes are very small (like small tapa size) so if you want to leave full expect to end up paying more than you anticipated."

  • "Had lunch on Cinco de Mayo. Glad we had reservations - it was quite full by 12:15. Food was good and lunch special fairly priced. Service was really great. Waiter attentive, gave us good advice on selections and left us with a nice impression of Distrito (unlike service at the Garza's JG Trading). "

  • "In my opinion this is the worst mexican food ever taste and food portions too small."
