Distrito at The Saguaro ScottsdaleGreat Anniversary Night OutThis was our first time at Distrito. The dining room is right next to the bar area & there is no solid separation, so if you are on that side of the room it is very noisy. Very casual atmosphere with outdoor dining altho we opted for the inside as it was about 105 out that day. We started with a tequila flight & a mezcal based cocktail. The ahi tuna ceviche is amazing as was the Chilango Chop salad. We both had the lamb chops and they were to die for. Very tender and flavorful and cooked as requested. It was our anniversary and so they comped us a very beautiful chocolate "sculptured" dessert which was both beautiful & delicious. The ceviche was incredible, and the porkbelly was the winner for entrees for my husband and me. Our server knew the menu like the back of his hand, and his service was impeccable. The guacamole was beautiful, chunky and creamy, the avocados stood out and were not overwhelmed by the addition of too many ingredients. The chips were warm, not oily, crisp, and hearty. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The carne asada was cooked precisely as I ordered it, the flavor was fantastic and they made a cut of meat that I usually do not care for into an awesome meal that I thoroughly enjoyed. The chile relleno and camarones were declared to e excellent by those who ordered them. The chicken was slightly overcooked. I did not care for my dessert but it was well made, I felt that it did not match the description. I would definitely dine here again. My fiance and I agreed that it was by far the best meal we had, had in ANY restaurant. Staff was excellent, very attentive. Being vegetarian I was very happy with their selection of entrees that fit me and my carnivore friends.
The stuffed poblano pepper I had was good & flavorful, very different since it was roasted not fried with breading like a typical chile relleno. Also had the seafood stew, scallops were done to perfection & melted in my mouth, the sauce had a wonderful smoky flavor that was good to the last spoonful.
One friend had the giant prawns, and did not shut up about how good they were all meal long. I like the outdoor patio, as they are 'dog friendly'. The food is fantastic. Service was okay. Nice, but slow. The cuisine rather than the ordinary Mexican or Mexican influenced, had many lovely twists while keeping to the south of the border flavors. Besides the more pricey entrees , there was much to choose from in the small plate category and much of that we shared.
The Margeritas were excellent though I thought them filled up with more ice than neccesary. The staff was wonderful with appropriate suggestions for the children and great with helping the adults pick the best of the menu to try. The margaritas were truly outstanding with a very different flair. I tried the signature margarita which has a little spice to it and also one made with a tequila which had a smokey flavor to it. Both were unremarkable. We had the mahi-mahi tacos they have an excellent sauce that reminded us of our trip to La Paz. The guacamole is very fresh and chunky. The lamp chop was generous and the sauces were really rich and tasty. The meatballs were good and spicy and the crab claws were interesting. Looking for a great date for my wife and I while the kids were away. We traveled to Scottsdale for a night on the town. First I have to admit, I'm addicted to Ceviches right now, and this place didn't disappoint. Started with the Atun ceviche, and then bumped it up with a little more aggressive spice with the Hiramasa. In a word, amazing. Both had great complex flavors that continued to reveal themselves as you savored every bite. Second we pushed on to the Steak and Pork tacos. Again a unique taste that exceeded expectations on both cases. Dinner was the short ribs and while good, not the star of the dinner. Finished with the Churros with two dipping sauces. This is my favorite restaurant in Scottsdale. Finely crafted Mexican food with great ingredients. Our server was so thoroughly informed, he went over the entire menu, including the seasoning for each dish, and we didn't even ask him.

I also found that the description of the ingredients in a dish did not always match up to the dish itself. Everything we were severed was a pleasure to eat from the little bits of joy that were the mini tacos to the beautifully cooked entrées (tender fish and succulent lamb), and it was all served by friendly and attentive staff.
