District CommonsThe sauteed scallops specialThe sauteed scallops special was prepared perfectly and was absolutely delectable; the scallops melted in your mouth. The shrimp cocktail continues to be the best we've found in the DC area.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Place as AlwaysThis is my second time at District Commons. The fettuccine dish I had was very good--just a tad bit less oil would have make it perfect. My boyfriend's burger was very tasty. The service was fantastic. The waiter forgot to put in my cranberry juice order until I reminded him, and for that, he gave us free sorbet and didn't charge for the drink. That was a really nice and unexpected gesture.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mother's Day BrunchYummy brunch--bottomless Bloody Mary's also a fun touch. Variety of choices for food lovers. Will be added to my list of DC favorites.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPre-ShowNice easy place to grab a bite before heading over to the Kennedy Center.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was tasty and was gladFood was tasty and was glad to see lots of options for a variety of diners.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been there several times. We've been there several times. Service and food always reliable. Prices reasonable. And, for us on carfree diets, its really close to the metro (foggy Bottom) Only downside is the noise level, but its certinly vibrant and energetic. We'll go again!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful spotThis was my second meal at the District Commons and a second good experience. I asked for a quiet table so I could catch up with a friend I haven't seen for a while. We were seated in one of the curtained booths, where we could talk without raising our voices. The food was very good, my friend discovered a new (to her) wine that she liked, and the service was friendly but not intrusive. All in all, a very pleasant experience.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for the pretzel bread but...loved it all. We had a great evening including one of the house specialty cocktails, pretzel bread, hand pies, steak, and the burger which were all fabulous. Dessert was amazing too- rocky road sundae- YUM!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat lunch spotI went with a group of 6 people for lunch. We were sitted right away even though we were missing 1 person which was great. The waitress was very polite and was quick. The food was really good and good size portions. The food is southern style, comfort food but with a twist. It wasn't loud and we didn't need to yell to each to be heard. I will definitely go again.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBlood orange mimosa is actuallyBlood orange mimosa is actually only regular OJ and champagne4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent friendly service.Excellent friendly service. Inventive dishes. Pretzel bread is addictive. Love it! Well b back!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a reservation throughHad a reservation through Open Table, got stuck in horrible traffic and called ahead, they held the table for us and got us off to our next engagement on time. Their Barrel Select Manhattan erased all memories of the traffic jam, tomato soup, chowders and asparagus salad all very good.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMReliable choice in nice settingWe've been here several times and it's always a nice experience even for high maintenance guests like myself. I love the setting with windows looking out at D.C.'s Washington Circle. It's not a memorable as some other restaurants, but it is a reliable choice and you won't ever be disappointed that you went there.
Just a couple nit-picky things:
Wished the waiter had told me about the $2 charge for bread. It was worth it; I just don't like surprises.
Way too loud. We had to really raise our voices to hear each other at lunch.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and drinks are alwaysThe food and drinks are always good. The bread is the best. Dessert was wonderful. But our waiter was not very patient. Can't remember his name.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is great and theThe food is great and the wait staff was warm and welcoming- good recommendations on food and dessert!!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBoyfriend's BirthdayMy boyfriend was very happy that I chose to take him to dinner at District Commons. The service was fantastic and we really felt like they cared that we were celebrating his birthday. The food recommendations from the staff were phenomenal and the wine was amazing. The lighting made the atmosphere conducive for romance and the decor was very pleasant. It wasn't too loud, so we could have intimate conversation. Our waiter checked on us often and the other support staff assisted as well, but it wasn't bothersome. I also felt very accommodated and not like a burden. We will definitely be dining here again and not just for special occasions!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Brunch Spot!I loved the brunch options here - a little different than your traditional brunch, but so tasty! I had the chorizo breakfast quesadilla and it was divine! Top it off with the bottomless blood orange mimosa's and your brunch is complete. Our server was very attentive and did not skip a beat. Will definitely be going back.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time atThis was our first time at the restaurant. My husband had the duck and I had the shrimp and grits. Both were excellent. We told our server we had Kennedy Center tickets and he did a great job of keeping the meal moving. We will go back again.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe requested to be moved toWe requested to be moved to a quieter table and were accommodated very graciously in spite of it being a very busy evening.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMImpeccable all around!!From incredible food to the impeccAble service, District Commons is top notch. The Farm to table approach and unique pairings of the cuisine delivered one if the best meals i have had this is year. The menu is fit for even the most discerning foodie. It was a bit loud during lunch rush, but we managed. Professional staff, everyone was happy with what they ordered. I wish they had more vegetarian options so I could take more people here.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been to District CommonsI've been to District Commons about four times now, and I've enjoyed a dinner for 6, a lunch for 5, alone time reading at the bar at lunch, and a lovely dinner with a friend one evening. It's loud, no doubt, and the servers cover too many tables (so a little slow) but the servers are so nice, do their best, and the food is AMAZING. One must order the bread. No question. I'll continue going back when in town.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food came extremely fastThe food came extremely fast but was nothing to rave about. We ordered the pretzel and chili. The pretzel was good but extremely greasy. The chili was a bit spicier than desired and not good enough to finish. The cornbread it came with was subpar.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMPossibly the best halibutPossibly the best halibut I have ever had! With a fresh side salad, a simple, but stunning meal!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place. $11 bottomlessLove this place. $11 bottomless mimosas or bloody marys and some really interesting takes on traditional brunch food. Particularly like the short rib hash.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI've dined at District CommonsI've dined at District Commons twice now. The food is amazing. And the ambiance can't be beat. The crowd runs the gamut from trendy well-dressed peoples out for a drink, to a business crowd, even to families with young children. The first time I was at District Commons, I had a great time -- no complaints, but the most recent time, our waiter didn't seem to care about our table. He seemed more interested in ensuring that the tables around us were having a pleasant dining experience. But I won't hold that against the restaurant, the rest of the staff that we did encounter was eager to help in any way possible. The duck was phenomenal, and the pureed parsnips that come with the salmon is divine.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous RestaurantWonderful restaurant. The food was fantastic. We loved our waiter, he was so hospitable. We would definitely go back again.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMYUMMY!! Everything we sawYUMMY!! The food and service are consistently good. The menu has variety, but rarely changes.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, good service,Great food, good service, nice room, good location. BUT: it was extremely loud, very hard to have a conversation. If they can fix that I'd go back all the time. Otherwise, not so sure.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMTop Notch!I always enjoy dining at District Commons. I love the clean look of the restaurant, the always-friendly service, but most of all, the exquisite food and presentation of the plates. If you're alone, sitting at their bar for lunch is very enjoyable. You can't go wrong at District Commons!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great. Service wasFood was great. Service was great. The food is great, the service very acceptable and the wine passable.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place a lot. HadLove this place a lot. Had never been for lunch. Pricey for that time of day, but olace was packed midweek with high-end diners in 2-tine shirts with French cuffs. As far as I can, narrower menu of familiar items and a sandwichbsu jour. Place is at the top of my list in Foggy Bottom.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the overall vibe of thisLove the overall vibe of this place. My fifth visit and never disappointed.
The bottomless mimosas at brunch are great!!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWent with some of my olderWent with some of my older family members and it was great for the whole crowd. Not too loud, but not boring. Not too flashy, but not boring. A perfect fit for a mixed age crowd!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI arrived a bit early andI arrived a bit early and waited for my girlfriend at the bar. I waited over 8 min for someone to approach me for an order. The bar didn't appear to be busy, but couldn't understand why a bartender working the service area couldn't assist with the service of other customers between orders.... Once we were seated I was beyond impressed! The dinner service was awesome and the food was unbeleavable ! I would recommend the establishment for the food and table service without question, but for a drink.... I would look else wear .3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff was VERY accommodatingThe staff was VERY accommodating for our demanding crowd! GoodAmazingly quick service! Good brunch selection, especially since I don't eat eggs.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways went by this placeAlways went by this place but never went in. First off, the service was excellent from the host to the waitstaff. I accidentally booked for two weeks in the future, but they quickly rebooked me and sat me down quickly on a Saturday night. Waitstaff took a little long but was extremely helpful and friendly, able to make intelligent recommendations. Food quality was very good and price was very reasonable for the location. Also, I highly recommend the pretzel bread with mustard butter. Delicious!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a fabulous dinner. OnHad a fabulous dinner. On my open table reservation I had requested a table in a quiet area. Upon arrival we were immediately taken to a perfect spot in the restaurant where I could easily catch up with my friend who was in from out of town.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI eat here often and the foodI eat here often and the food and service are excellent. My last visit was not as great in terms of service. I think my server was being overworked. Sat in a booth near the door and felt a little forgotten. Drink service slower than usual and they were not busy for a Saturday at dinner time. However, I will go back and I am just chalking it up as a bad night.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMIn a great location with goodIn a great location with good food, service, and ambiance.
