I asked for a quiet table so I could catch up with a friend I haven't seen for a while. We were seated in one of the curtained booths, where we could talk without raising our voices. The food was very good, my friend discovered a new (to her) wine that she liked, and the service was friendly but not intrusive. Their Barrel Select Manhattan erased all memories of the traffic jam, tomato soup, chowders and asparagus salad all very good.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMReliable choice in nice settingWe've been here several times and it's always a nice experience even for high maintenance guests like myself. I love the setting with windows looking out at D.C.'s Washington Circle. It's not a memorable as some other restaurants, but it is a reliable choice and you won't ever be disappointed that you went there.

Wished the waiter had told me about the $2 charge for bread. It was worth it; I just don't like surprises.

The service was fantastic and we really felt like they cared that we were celebrating his birthday. The food recommendations from the staff were phenomenal and the wine was amazing. The lighting made the atmosphere conducive for romance and the decor was very pleasant. It wasn't too loud, so we could have intimate conversation. Our waiter checked on us often and the other support staff assisted as well, but it wasn't bothersome. I also felt very accommodated and not like a burden. It's loud, no doubt, and the servers cover too many tables (so a little slow) but the servers are so nice, do their best, and the food is AMAZING. One must order the bread. No question. The crowd runs the gamut from trendy well-dressed peoples out for a drink, to a business crowd, even to families with young children. The first time I was at District Commons, I had a great time -- no complaints, but the most recent time, our waiter didn't seem to care about our table. He seemed more interested in ensuring that the tables around us were having a pleasant dining experience. But I won't hold that against the restaurant, the rest of the staff that we did encounter was eager to help in any way possible. First off, the service was excellent from the host to the waitstaff. I accidentally booked for two weeks in the future, but they quickly rebooked me and sat me down quickly on a Saturday night. Great location near Foggy Bottom Metro and traffic roundabout. Lots of windows so can watch the world go by as you dine comfortably. Menu was excellent with choices you won't find everywhere. Only negative was being seated near the staff station and they tended to congregate and discuss their lives.
