District ChophouseDavid's ReviewWe are from California and on Vacation. We found out our friends also from California would be in DC the same time we would. So I set up a dinner date with them. Our hotel, the Hampton Inn had you on their list of steak houses that they recommend. I checked your website and menu and it looked very good. Our dinner was great. The food was fantastic. The wine excellent and the beer was good too.
The only down side was that it was over crowded and extremely loud for me.
Our waiter was outstanding.

From quickly being served a drink in the upstairs bar while waiting for the table to be ready to outstanding service during dinner the waitstaff performed outstandingly. We only ordered burgers, but they were very well prepared and cooked properly. My only issue was that my burger came with two bun bottoms and no top. Their expediter was probably slammed, but everything else was so on target I didn't expect such an error. I didn't complain; I'm confident that if I had they would have jumped through burning hoops to fix it.

The atmosphere is fun, and the building is beautiful. The wait-staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. And the food is fresh, delicious, and the selection is optimal. Not overwhelming in selection nor is it to sparse. And to top it all off they bring fresh cornbread to the table as a starter. You cannot beat that.

Great for events at the Verizon Center, when guests are in town sightseeing, or just for a night out. Steaks and prime rib are superb. They specialize in steaks and chops, and serve some of the best steak in DC. The service is always excellent and the ambience lively but not excessively so. It's also half a block from the Gallery Place Metro station. Our reservation was for 5:30 in order to provide enough time to dine before the 7:30 show. We actually were served and departed by 6:30. We did not feel rushed, however. This was my first time to the restaurant. The restaurant appearance was nice, and had a good feel about it. Our server "Mark" was great, engaged us in the right amount of conversation and kept us smiling the entire time. The food was great, all three of us ate everything on our plates. I have already mentioned this restaurant to a few friends as "the place we need to go to!" I can't wait to try something else from the menu, I had a hard time choosing what I would eat and chose the salmon, which was cooked just right. When it was delivered to my table it was overlooked leaving the tiniest hint of pink in the middle an more chared on the outside than expected. It seemed too much of a hassle to send my steak back to get one cooked the way I had requested with it being so busy on a Friday evening.
I'd expect a chophouse to be able to deliver a steak to be delivered cooked to my request when I am asked how I wish for it to be done. That just left a sour taste in my mouth for my first dining experience with District Chophouse.

Nice menu selections, great preparation, very good service and fun atmosphere. I've had seafood, poultry and meat here and have loved every dish. Their side veggies are so buttery and oh so good, but not overcooked. The Chop Chop salad is awesome... Great key lime pie too! My mom came to visit and this is one of her fave spots in DC, especially for the crab cakes.
