  • "Priscilla made our experience excellent. She was busy yet greeted us with a big smile and very thorough explanation of several items. The restaurant was filled with groups yet my husband and I felt very well taken care of by her. The $22 any entree special made the dinner a terrific value. The tenderloin was terrific. Way to go Priscilla for working hard at ASU and bring an excellent waitress and an enthusiastic promoter of District. Thank you. PS. This was our first visit and first time meeting Priscilla. We would go back and ask to be in her section!"

  • "Not impressed at lunch. Menu looks fabulous with most locally sourced . Food was just so so although could be fabulous if someone in the kitchen actually cared. Shrimp tacos cold and lack luster. White fish sandwich dry and overcooked. Margaritas pretty tasteless and mostly ice in the glass. Come on People......you are in a great location. Just try alittle harder!"

  • "The District's $9 lunch is a gem and never a disappointment! Food is consistently very good and inventive. Never a problem finding something on the menu to suit your taste on any particular day. Best thing this restaurant did and compared to other restaurants in the area, the quality and choices are wayyy up there in comparison to what you get. Portions could be considered small, but realistically, what one should eat to begin with."

  • "We barely made the concert in time due to the process taking a lot longer than expected. I have only been there once, so maybe it was just that night or our server. In addition both my wife and I hate onions and just about everything on the menu has shallots, onions, leeks or some other form of onion in it. Makes the menu pretty small for us selecting the non-onion items."

  • "Perfect location for a pre game/show/event if you're in the Downtown Phoenix area. The service is good, the food is great and centrally located near a plethora of events and venues. Valet parking is offered and the resturant will validate your ticket for 3 hours."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed this 2 course menu that included a glass of house wine -- a cab or a chard, and a choice from 4 appetizers and 3 entrees plus the signature cotton candy finish. Just the right amount, perfectly prepared and presented. Service was excellent, from the initial inquiry as to our post-dinner plans -- theater or symphony and curtain time, to the attentiveness given to refilling water glasses and checking on our progress through the two courses. A great way to begin an evening that includes a concert or a play in this part of town!"

  • "I booked a reservation at the District because it was walking distance from the Phoenix Suns game. The service was good but we were really looking forward to the soft pretzel and corn dog appetizers pictured in the ad. Neither are on the menu anymore and we felt ripped off!"

  • "My boyfriend and I enjoyed or Valentine's Day dinner here. The special menu was very delicious and enjoyable. We had a four course meal that included a champagne toast and a single red rose. The food was great however the over downfall was the price. We paid over $100 for our bill. The proportions are quite small for the expected meal. Even though the meal was great, the amount of food did not justify the price. I would recommend this place for a romantic date for any special occasion but not otherwise."

  • "Ambiance is great, space is well designed and decorated. Manager seemed very friendly and helpful. Food was very salty, scallops were chewy. Short ribs were very good, but again salty in taste. Server didn't approach for over ten minutes after seating. Appetizer was delivered prior to bread being offered. Food runner "auctioned off" the food, not knowing which diner ordered what plate. Wine list had some amazing prices for some good wines. It was an enjoyable evening, but for what should be fine dining, they missed on several points. Even if the restaurant is in a hotel, improving the service and the food would attract a regular crowd from surrounding neighborhoods."

  • "Read the reviews on Open Table about the food being great and the service being bad. They seemed to have fixed the service issue since we had no problems with service. We had dinner before an ACT theater show and half of our group had the pre-theater set price dinner. The food was excellent and great size portions. The only drawback of this hotel is that there is no door to separate the lobby bar from the restaurant, so we were fighting the echoing noise and almost shouting across the table to our friends."

  • "After seeing the game, concert, symphony, play or shopping walk up a block and enjoy a drink and small plate like the black bean hummus before heading into dinner. the pork tenderloin melted upon entry, sweet and spicy aroma's from the hot butternut soup lingered near me and my salmon with risotto enticed me to slow down and savor the flavor. think your done, not yet...save room for the complimentary cherry cotton candy 'thanks for coming' good buy treat. we will be back. thanks for a wonderful Sunday with friends."

  • "Boyfriend and I were staying at the Sheraton for the weekend and decided to give the hotel restaurant a try. He had the Applejack Pork Tenderloin and it was amazing. I had the steak and fries and I can not say the steak was too great. It was tough to cut and just about as tough to chew. For desert we had the District Bag of Donuts and they were heavenly. They even brought us pink cotton candy while we were deciding on what dessert to have, the cotton candy (which I'm usually not a fan of) was incredible. I've never had cotton candy so delicious! The wine and drink list was really long and more than enough to choose from. The wait staff was very friendly and polite."

  • "The food and drinks are excellent. However, my boyfriend and i went there because we saw online that there was going to be a Jazz band. The band was good for a cover band that sing john mayer etc... but no where close to jazz music. Also the music was starting to put us to sleep so we left."

  • "We had friends in town who were staying at the Sheraton and decided to give the restaurant a try, rather than take them out to find another restaurant in the Phoenix or Scottsdale area. We were quite pleasantly surprised to find that this was a really good restaurant, rather than just a place for hotel guests to have a convenient place to eat. The atmosphere was nice, our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful, and the food was excellent. The portions were filling, without being overwhelming. A few fresh veggies came with each meal. A substitution of veggies was freely offered by the waiter when one person didn't care for beets that came with his meal. I would return any time I am in the downtown Phoenix area for an event."

  • "The bar had a DJ and was a very popular place. All of the food we ordered was delicious -- Caesar salad, salmon (maybe a little heavy on the shallots), and duck. They had a $22 special for any entree on the menu, which was an outstanding value for the quality of food, the ambience and the service. Everyone -- hostess, server, assistant server, sommelier -- was friendly, efficient, and accommodating. Definitely would return."

  • "My 88 year old grandmother, my mom and I had tickets for a show at the Herberger Theater. I didn't want my grandmother to have to walk too far from one place to the next, so chose District American Kitchen for dinner as it was the closest venue to the theater. We had a fantastic dinner and my grandmother got a kick out of being served cotton candy (the best cotton candy I've ever had) for dessert. Thank you to Alexis, our server, for taking a great three-generations photo of us, too! Wonderful memories!"

  • "My husband and I visited this restaurant after seeing a play at the Herberger. They have a very nice menu and have a number of gluten free options as well as vegetarian options. Our food was delicious and the service impeccable. Many restaurants have stopped serving bread. They served rolls, but they were pretty pedestrian-not in keeping with the rest of the food."

  • "We just love to go to The District. They have a new and improved menu. The food is superb and the prices are reasonable. It's a great stop before going to the Herberger or the Symphony. And, you can get your parking validated. Unfortunately, at this visit my wife's salad was sever without dressing. It should have been a minor issue but it took way to long to get some dressing and the rest of us were finished with our salads before my wife started. Then dinner, the same thing. Her dinner came with the wrong vegetables. By the time they corrected that issue we were finished with our main course and her salmon was now tepid. Was it was the waiters fault or the kitchens?, Either way it made for a less than pleasant experience but try it ."

  • "If you're in a hurry while downtown, this is an acceptable spot. Food is good (but the tomato soup tastes and feels like spaghetti sauce), portions are adequate, and service is pleasant. The people in the bar area sounded like they were having fun. Noise level in restaurant portion makes conversation somewhat difficult, decor is spartan, and prices are in line with better restaurants. Not for romantics, not for foodies."

  • "We had Christmas Dinner at this restaurant. The food was very good, but the service was tragic. I had been advised previously of this being an issue but decided we would still give it a try. It is unfortunate that such a nice space has so little to offer when it comes to basic service. The restaruant had many empty seats so perhaps staffing was the issue. However, I always counted many servers and wait staff tripping over themselves so I am led to believe that it was a training issue. This ended up being a 1.50 hour ordeal.... It has been 1 week since my visit and still no response from the restaurant whom I emailed the next day.... I guess it is another example of attention to detail."

  • "This was our 1st time at the District. We enjoyed the local grown and wonderfully prepared food. The herbs were amazing and grown right on sight! We found the prices very reasonable. This is a great place downtown near the theaters, museums and arenas. The staff was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was wheelchair accessible and the tables were a good height for an electric wheelchair."
