Diner Reviews
  • "This is one of my new favorite places in the city. I had the honor of sitting at the Chefs Bar and Chef Shane was amazing! Great food and very entertaining to watch. The chicken wings are off the charts good!! Can't wait until the sauce is available at local grocery. The duck and waffle was also a big hit. Great flavors and great presentation! This is a no-brainer... You must try this place. You will be glad that you did!! Cocktails were also amazing!!"

  • "Went here in a small group and was given a booth side table. very comfortable. Very busy here on a Thursday night. Food was great. Strange appetizers yet everyone still liked them. Seafood was delicious. Will go back!"

  • "The wings were absolutely delicious... and the duck and waffles were an interesting combination."

  • "The free popcorn was great and very special. We also got the friend chicken which was very delicious. The cauliflower appetizer was aslo very yummy. All in all the food was pretty good and a bit unique, especially the free popcorn. My only reason for the low overall star rating is because I came away with alot of mosquito bites only on the underside of my legs. And my bf that sat on the other side did not get any. I felt like maybe the udnerside of the seats were not very clean and breaded mosquitos? Not sure. but food was and ambience was great otherwise. maybe just bad luck."

  • "Very interesting menu. Food was good, not great, but good. Service was friendly but a little off. Our server asked if we wanted more popcorn and we said yes but never received. Has to ask the bus boy to find the server when we needed the check. She was very friendly but again off. Beer selection was nice and had really good tap beer."

  • "We were staying in TriBeCa and booked ahead for this restaurant. We were glad we did because the restaurant was very busy and deservedly so. We arrived quite a bit earlier than our reservation time but it was no problem to sit down earlier. The service was very friendly and the team were very knowledgeable about both the food and the wine, even telling us what the ingredients were in the yummy wings. The food was delicious and the wine list full of interesting American small vineyard wines. Delicious Chardonnay from Strawberry Ridge in Connecticut. Chicken wings to share, Scallops and Porgy as entrees - all very good. Would recommend!"

  • "Friday night dinner. Super cool drinks, very eclectic and fun. Obviously busy for a Friday night so be prepared for a little extra wait for service - certainly not a detractor from the experience. Be there with friends or someone you want to talk with personally and it's perfect. Interesting wings and Duck Burger (in a good way). Go, have fun and enjoy!"

  • "This place has a great vibe (hip, youthful, great decor), good service (super friendly, there when you want them). Food is really good (although my friend thought the wings were overrated). Very creative and delicious cocktail menu. I was enjoying myself and my drinks so much that I kept drinking well beyond my 2 drink limit. Then after we left I noticed I didn't feel a thing (I'm a total lightweight and usually feel one drink and have a real buzz on after 2). Seriously nothing. This has never happened before. I felt like I should write them a thank you note the next morning when I had no hangover (again usually just 2 drinks requires 2 Advil). But at $14 a pop, I also want a refund."

  • "Love this place. They've got tasty, interesting food, but they also have some of the friendliest people working there... a rare combination in Tribeca."

  • "Nice ambience. Staffs are friendly and courteous. I wasn't impressed by any of their food. Most of them are on the salty side. Every food was overpowered by one particular flavor and couldn't taste ingredients' . I liked the pate, but I'd suggest them to serve with bread."

  • "I thought my second visit to Distilled couldn't possibly be as fantastic as the first. But it was. Everybody treats you like an old friend, for one thing — when you ask your server for a mead recommendation, you get the feeling she really considers what you'll like best. Also, both nights I dined there, one of the restaurant's partners came over and asked my party for feedback. The high-end comfort food is actually addictive, I think. All day long, after you dine at Distilled, you'll find yourself thinking obsessively about the duck waffles .... and that unbelievable broth the mussels come in ..... and the wings .... and the cauliflower and B. sprouts .... and the s'mores ...... I can't wait to go back a third time."

  • "My coworkers and I ate here one night for dinner and have come back almost once a week since! The food and drinks are great but even more outstanding is the service. It's rare to find a restaurant in NYC that offers a truly personable dining experience; we felt like regulars even during our first time at Distilled. Highly recommend trying anything on the menu because it's all amazing but my personal favorites are the brussel sprouts w/ duck bacon & the duck + waffle dish."

  • "This was my first visit to Distilled. I went on a date and was a perfect spot. The tables were intimate and we had no wait. We did make a reservation for 6pm on a Tuesday. We had the wings as an appetizer and they were highly enjoyable. I got the burger with tater tots that was very delicious. I would go back for the burger itself, regardless that it was $18 for the burger."

  • "I have wanted to try this restaurant for a while now... I wish I did not. The way to sum of the food in one word was SALTY. I have never in my life wrote a negative review about a restaurant in my life. I was truly disappointed. We tried the buffalo wings, I had the burger which I asked for medium and it came out rare so rare that I could not even eat it. My date had the fried duck and waffles she said it was so salty also. The last thing we tried was the crispy brussels sprouts which was basically a bowl of salt. I love Tribeca but I will never go back to that restaurant ever again. The best part of the night was the Narragansett beer. Very sad I would not recommend anyone go this place."

  • "Went here on a Friday night with a buddy after work for a few drinks and dinner. Had a very excited server who thought "everything on the menu" was amazing which is not terribly helpful, but he did know the entrees very well and when he found out we were there to explore food, he said chef was working on a new dish and asked if we wanted to try it. Also knew the cocktail menu inside and out and was very attentive. Cool scene nice feel. The duck and waffle was really great, and the wings were very good as well. The scallops and mushroom side we got were fine but nothing special. The cocktails were pretty interesting, though neither of us loved ours. Ultimately, nice date/hang out spot, decent food, but don't go for the food alone."

  • "Distilled NY was an amazing experience. Besides the delicious popcorn (bread substitute), and the incredible atmosphere (including noise dampening on the ceiling to keep the volume acceptable), the FOOD was impeccable. I was drooling at the mussels and fingerling potatoes dish I ordered. My friend ordered the salmon, which I heard was delicious and presented beautifully. My favorite part of the night was the service. Everything from clearing dishes, to service of the food, to the wine and water service, I was stunned as to their attentiveness and politeness. We met Steven, who is one of the partners. He gave us a free whitefish, and even announced someone's birthday to the entire restaurant and conducted a full diners' choir for them."

  • "I needed a good restaurant for a small set of collegues including one of our directors. So the place had to be special but not stupidly expensive. Distilled certainly hit the spot. Ambience is kind of low key, dark and cool but not too sober. It wasn't very busy when we went (a Sunday night in some very cold weather) so that may have had an affect on numbers there but it wasn't crowded and had a nice vibe. Our bar person was wiity and full of good advice on the beverages. We tried the Amber Ale (hoppy and vibrant) and an IPA (rather sharp, strange aftertaste and not to everyone's taste). Dinner was excellent. The duck wafffles and tater tots were seriously good. Worth a diversion for them alone. Service was friendly and prompt."

  • "My friends and I went on a weeknight for one of our birthday dinners. The service was excellent. Everyone from the host, bartender and server were all very friendly, helpful and flexible. Some of our party was a little late getting out of work and they were more than accomendating rather than the usual NY attitude of hosts when some of your party is running behind. The popcorn was amazing. We split a few appetizers and loved them all. The brussel sprouts were some of the best I have had. I had the mussels and they were very good. The only thing I would comment on is that they do not bring any bread with the mussels and the broth is soooo good. It was a waste not to eat all off it. All in all, I would recommend it and probably will return."

  • "I took my boyfriend here for his bday. It received great reviews on the wings. The wings turned out to be REALLY good and so was the rest of the food. The staff was super nice. I felt like I was a judge on a cooking show, the person who brought out the food explained what it was, how it was prepared, & what the best way to eat it is. We were both impressed. We got wings to share which were awesome, I got the country fried duck & waffles, and my bf got the steak. Everything was wonderful!"

  • "The food isn't fancy, but it's tasty and prepared with care (aka, you may not be taking pictures of the meal but you'll sure like it in your mouth.) The restaurant itself is much nicer than the photos on the web. And the staff was outstanding. From the moment we arrived, everyone was upbeat, warm and welcoming. This fun place with really enjoyable eats is reasonably priced and made for a great evening. We definitely left with a smile!"

  • "We came across Destilled by accident and I'm glad we did... My wife and I decided to venture out for dinner on short notice and this snowy Saturday night and Destilled luckily had a table available. The food was absolutely amazing, the service extremely friendly without being overbearing and the ambiance was just right. We had the tuna and brussel sprouts as appetizers and the king salmon and glazed pork ribs as mains. I am a pretty good cook myself but will gladly admit that I would find it very challenging to create the flavors and textures chef Shane is delivering. I want to eat myself through the entire menu and will be back at Distilled within the next few weeks. Added pluses- prices are fair and small but nice selection of wines."

  • "My daughter found Distilled NY while searching for a restaurant for her birthday brunch. We were very pleased with the service. The waitress was wonderful, friendly and attentive. Chiicken wings were great as well as the spicey pickles. I had the Bird Burger and it was wonderful. Distilled take on a Manhattan was awsome! I had 2 during brunch and my wife loved the Bloody Mary. When we are on town next we will definitely return to Distilled NY!"

  • "Consistently (1) detailed service with a big smile and (2) delicious mouth watering food and drinks, (3) lively casual sophisticated ambiance. What else can you ask for?! Don't miss: - Wings: extra crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside with Korean twist. - Duck and Waffles: Lightly fried duck over melt in your mouth French toast waffles with jalapeño maple syrup and Thai basil. - Cauliflower: with miso and snap peas! - Herb and Sprout salad: nice light salad sprinkled w/candied lemon rinds - Tuna Crudo: yum! Tasty and light - Cocktails: Sheldon and Benjamin are so creative. Destination worthy and much needed neighborhood spot. Can't wait to host a party and try brunch."

  • "The Wings are amazing, the popcorn too but the atmosphere was really dead on a mondaynight and the waittress was very nice but not knowledgeable on the wines, we got the wrong one!"

  • "I went there on Monday night to celebrate my birthday with some girlfriends. From start to finish, it was an awesome experience. While at the bar, we had some delicious, unique cocktails and free popcorn (which is flavored with cumin, garlic, and brewer's yeast). During dinner, we ordered the wings (a must-have!), fried duck and waffles (also amazing), the bird burger (also delicious and good for the tater tot lover), and the mussels in bacon broth (I could sit there all night dunking bread into that broth). Knowing it was my birthday, our waitress (who was lovely!) gave us complimentary moonshine (with a chaser, thank goodness!) and dessert."

  • "The food at Distilled was fine but the menu is limited in choice and nothing we ate was great. However, what really turned us off was the service. Our waiter was less than friendly or attentive which really subtracted to the overall experience."

  • "The hearty greens are one of the best things I've ever eaten. Same goes for the wings. The warm fall-themed Pop's Cider and Mystic Mead cocktails are amazing. Most of the other mixed drinks are pretty great, too. The restaurant is a cool-looking space on a cool-looking intersection. Entrees are good, but surprisingly not quite as awesome as everything else."

  • "Great vibe, great food, great drinks. We were seated at the chef's "table" (it's a bar that faces into the kitchen) and were able to try several extra dishes... and a few moonshine shots. It was truly a fantastic experience. Everyone working at the restaurant was friendly and attentive. That attitude clearly came through not only in the customer service, but also in the food. There was great attention to detail in every dish (and drink) that we had. Highlights included the brussels sprouts, duck and waffles, and wings. Each was unique and well thought out. I definitely recommend Distilled to any and all!"

  • "We had a fantastic night at distilled! It's not too loud but has a great energy. The food was fantastic. Definitely get the wings, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, duck and waffles, and deconstructed cheesecake. Nothing was bad but the mussels were just ok. The cocktails were creative and delicious. We were celebrating a birthday and they gave us a dessert on the house. The service was amazing. Super friendly and attentive. I totally recommend Distilled!"

  • "This my 3rd time to Distilled, and each time is always better than the last. The staff is always so welcoming and helpful and the food is delicious! When out of town friends are looking for a place to go, I've made it a habit to recommend Distilled. Two words: Chicken Wings. Not to mention a tasty cocktail menu, friendly bartenders, and a head chef that wears a fitted? Amazing. The country fried duck and waffles deserves a shout out as does the brussel sprouts. This particular visit was special since it was both mine and my best friend's birthdays and they helped us to celebrate with champagne and good company. We will be back again soon for sure!"

  • "I like the friendliness of the place. The menu choices were a bit puzzling in the sense that I was not sure if they were small plates or big plates or meant to be shared. The burgers were good but I am not a burger-for-dinner kind of person. I've had fish here twice and it was always good. Love the popcorn."
