  • "Lots of great food options with enough to share. Loved the building and ambience and it's a great option when downtown for events to have a nice sit down meal in a great location."

  • "About 8 of us in town for the Humana Play Festival had a lovely meal here. Salmon, fried chicken and meatloaf were outstanding. The fish and chips were good but only one medium-sized, but on the small of medium, piece of fish did not warrant the price. Bread pudding which the waitress raved about and which was supposed to have a burbon icing was dry with very little icing. We were only about three or four parties eating on the Thursday we were there. But service seemed to be on the slow side. At one point the owner came out and removed a few dirty dishes but most of us still had dirty dishes in front of us while dessert was served."

  • "Close to the Yum Center. Pleasant atmosphere with excellent service. Food is tasty and arrives quickly. (Important on event nights at the Yum.) Weekend brunch is extensive and good with a reasonable price. Try it and you will return."

  • "Menu was solid, service was good! Would definitely eat there again."

  • "We had a burger, chicken and waffles, and old fashions. The food was spectacular. The old fashions were good, but too sweet to really be old fashions- the bourbon flavor was hidden."

  • "The menu was so full of unique delicious meal choices, it was hard to decide. A little local flare and great service. You can tell everyone enjoys working there. Had the shrimp and grits and didn't leave anything in my bowl. If I could have licked the bowl I would have. My friends indulged in the fried chicken and waffles, with syrup on the side. Amazing dish!"

  • "Had my husbands Birthday Party this past Saturday night at Dish on Market. What service we had - Marshall the GM and the servers were wonderful. This was just a thrown together party with family (about 18 people) and it turned into a night to remember. The food, the atmosphere and the attentiveness was more than we could have asked for. Thank you to all that served us and thank you Marshall for being an outstanding host and for accommodating a large noisy group :-) FYI - the fried chicken is awesome!!!"

  • "I wanted to try something different and I wanted great breakfast food after staying at the galt house hotel. This place was amazing. I made a reservation in case they were busy and they weren't so when we showed up early we were seated right away. We ordered from the menu instead of the buffet and the food arrived promptly. My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought the service was great. Would def go back for breakfast and would love to go back to try lunch or dinner. Definitely recommended."

  • "Food was very good, service good, biggest problem is the table we were at looked like a cafeteria table, not very good ambience. However the night was overall good."

  • "You couldn't help but feel welcome in this casual downtown restaurant. Everyone from the hostess to the bartender made you feel like a guest in their home. I would go back for this alone. However, the food wasn't anything out of the ordinary. I had the salad with apples and walnuts. Good, but nothing special. My husband had the steak which he said was okay...again...nothing special. We have heard that the hamburgers are great so we may go back again to try them out and to feel those welcoming vibes!"

  • "The salmon was delicious and cooked pefectly. The shrimp and grits were okay but it was a little greasy although the flavor was good. Service was excellent, responsive, and quick. During the night we dined there was live music which added a nice romantic element to the dinning experience. I would definitely dine here again."

  • "Was a bit hesitant to try something new on Valentines Day and our 11th wedding Anniversary but we were pleasantly surprised. The food, ambience, and the staff were fantastic. It was nice not to be in a big chain restaurant with all the noise, we enjoyed a wonderful guitar/singer who's voice reminded me of Lou Rawls. I did note in our Open Table reservations about our Anniversary and we were given a free dessert and a song was dedicated to us. Very nice touch. My husband has already mentioned about going back. It's a great spot for a special occasion. Thanks Dish on Market for making our Valentines/Anniversary very special."

  • "Dish has a perfect match between cost and quality of food. This is a perfect 'staple' to add to the rotation of regular stops when dining in Louisville."

  • "We had a reservation before the U of L game and were seated right away, but they were very busy and service was extremely slow. Not our waiters fault, but he had to keep apologizing for the delays. Fortunately the game wasn't until 9pm, so we had the extra time to spare. We sat upstairs and the tables were just bare squares and stacking chairs. We had the burger & bourbon special -- nothing great. And the fish & chips -- very good and filling."

  • "I have been to Dish on Market three times in the last year. The service is steady, the food more than adiquate, and the prices very good. They are a consistent favorite of mine to use, especially before downtown events."

  • "Dish on Market did not disappoint. Last minute reservations to bring a group of customers for a dinner and everyone enjoyed the food and bourbons. Thanks!"

  • "Went in for brunch on Sunday morning. Staff was fantastic. Food just as good. Omlet station was outstanding. Not overpriced like you find at many spots. Worth a try"

  • "Had dinner and drinks prior to a UofL Basketball game. Mostly sandwich menu, but both mine and my wife's entrees were very good. Drinks were very good, as well. We had the Rueben Egg Roles, which were excellent. Not very crowded, but we ate before a 7 PM game, so pretty early. Good location and food for a pre-game meal."

  • "I have eaten here twice now during my month stay in Louisville for work and have found the food, service, and surroundings to be consistently excellent. I would highly recommend stopping in for food, a drink, or both to anyone who asked me for a recommendation."

  • "The restaurant appeared quaint and trendy. But it was difficult to walk around and the floor was sticky. The food was fair. Eggs not cooked well. Bacon was crumbly, not full strips. Service was awful. Waited a long time to place our order. Waited an even longer time to get our food. Server never checked on us for service or even made eye contact to see if we needed anything. Had to remind server he didn't bring our orange juice. Waited an even longer time to pay the bill. He did offer to waive the tip, but I tipped him anyway because it was the right thing to do. If you want almost average food at an almost average price with terrible service, this is the place for you"

  • "Dish on Market was not one of our favorite places. The service was really good, and the setting is nice, but the food did not really appeal to us. It may be different for others, but just not for us. If you have never been there, I'd say try for yourself. It may be exactly what you like. As for what we had, I had the hot brown which was not one of the better hot browns that I have ever had. My wife had the shrimp and grits which we had to send back because the food was cold. As an appetizer we had the rueben egg rolls which were actually really good. It may have just been an off night, but I don't see us returning any time soon."

  • "Our server forgot alot ( to bring drinks, bring forks and other requested items) did not have wine available that was on list; chicken tenders were really good"

  • "Our first visit to Dish on Market was disappointing. Even though we made a reservation, we were seated in a back corner. It appears that the furnishings are left over from the 1980s Delta Restaurant. I know this is really picky, but do restaurant owners ever eat with the utensils given to customers? Obviously, the very cheapest forks (totally flat) and knives available. Details matter!!! As soon as the fried chicken was served, I could smell the overused oil it was cooked in - time to change the deep fryer! The green beans were warmed in the canned liquid with a few dehydrated onions added - no other seasoning. Mashed potatoes had a little flavor - a pat of butter or a little gravy would have been a nice touch. The cornbread was good."

  • "My party of 4 (two couples) dined here for the first time on NYE. It was not overly busy and we got a good table. Food was excellent - great flavor and portion sizes. Drink list was good. Both us and our friends have kids and we all remarked at the things they had that were kid-friendly. One of our friends steak was not cooked correctly, they fixed the problem and upgraded it to a larger steak. Also, they upgraded our table from the one that we had reserved on open table. Overall a GREAT experience."

  • "Dined at Dish on Market New Year's Eve before going out. The service was slow at first, but I think there was a confusion about which server had our table. Eventually we had a very polite, attentive server who refilled drinks and checked back appropriately. We all ordered the various steaks on the menu and salads to start. The house dressing is SO good! The steaks on the other hand were definitely on the more rare side than what we expected. Most of our group still enjoyed them, and a few sent them back to the kitchen for a little more time on the grill. The manager and server apologized profusely and bought drinks for those who had to have their dinners cooked a little longer. Overall, good experience."

  • "Place wasn't busy on Sunday Lunchtime, was perfect for my group of 13, they gave us the upstairs to ourselves. Was a great inexpensive menu with something for every body to like! The meals came out fairly quick, large portions, and were above average. Some great menu options! Had a great time there!"

  • "I read the online reviews and talked to the concierge at the hotel and was led to believe that this was a great spot for Sunday Brunch. Not so. We were seated upstairs, the buffet was downstairs, and consisted of a few chafing dishes with scrambled eggs, bacon, and biscuits and gravy. There was one small plate of mixed fruit. No juice or coffee included. There was hardly any food on the buffet ... and the wait staff kept defensively repeating, "We are working as hard as we can." Our server was irritated, and the food was mediocre at best. Won't go back."

  • "Super food with large portions. Too large really. Two could share entree. Needs upgrades in general like tables chairs ambiance... Even with that though I'd eat there again. Really great shrimp and grits."

  • "Went here before a concert at Yum and I order a burger based on the fact that the place won Best Burger in Louisville. Well, I can see why. The burger was delicious and so tender. Our waiter was a little socially ackward and made for weird conversations. He also wasn't the best waiter; he handed us our drinks and then threw the drink napkins on the table stating "Opps, forgot to hand these out." Opps, you are a horrible waiter! The decor isn't that stellar either; it needs a little updating. From the decor, it looks like the place may have been a Chinese restaurant in the early 70s and Dish on Market never remodeled when taking over. In the end, I recommend this place for a burger if you will be in the area; don't make a special trip."

  • "Ate at Dish before the Justin Timberlake concert and was very pleased with our choice! I had the Chicken and Waffles which was amazing! Not sure why more places do not have this on their menu!! My daughter had the fried chicken dinner and absolutely thought it was the best fried chicken she has ever had not to mention the mashed potatoes and green beans. The glass of wine could have been a bit more full for the cost of it. All in all a great place and sure we will be back!!!"

  • "Not the best night at Dish, one of my favorites, but the weather was inclement, and things were very quiet for a Friday night. Less busy equaled things not being quite as sharp as normal. Good, not great, as it usually is."

  • "We had reservations for this past Saturday night. What a great night. It was just freezing and very windy, so it was wonderful just to walk through the front door. They had a very nice selection of wine. My boyfriend ordered the steak and I had the salmon; both were delicious. The service was great too;very attentive. This is just the best place to catch a good meal right before a show. We finished our meal an hour before the show, but just stayed and chatted our time away. Very nice experience."

  • "Dish on Market is more a bar than a restaurant. Don't expect gracious surroundings or gracious staff. As in many bars, the food was so-so, and the waitress had an attitude."
