Dish Bar & GrillDish and a half!Dish was an excellent choice for our special occasion meal, pre-theater. Service was attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine. Portions were generous and delicious. I always look for use of local and seasonal ingredients and some were listed on the menu and used. Only criticism is that the wine list should include at least 3 CT wines; there are some very good ones, a white, red, and dessert should be available. If you are farm to table, offer local wine. Server made every effort to get us out in time for the theater, which was appreciated. An extra complementary sparking wine was provided to acknowledge our special occasion. Very thoughtful and classy. She described it as comfort food. Yes the food made me feel good but it was way too elegant to be merely called "comfort food." I loved the farm to table premise combined with the presentation, great service and attractive ambience. My companion had the lemon cod , wedge salad and fruit crisp and I had the mixed green salad, stuffed shrimp and candy bar dessert. All was delicious and fresh. Free valet parking, well made cocktails, great wine list and the food is fabulous. Try the tuna trio, you will love it . Not normally dessert eaters, we were enjoying our stay so much that we order a variety of them and shared among the 4 of us. Delicious! This may be our favorite place to eat. I worked with the event planner to reserve a large table for 14 people, in the front of the restaurant, in a section we had all to ourselves, which was perfect. We ordered off the regular menu, which always provides for a variety of creative food items. Of course, the chips with the farmhouse cheddar sauce were a popular item, as well as the yummy garlic bread. I tried the heirloom tomato pie, which actually looked like a slice of pie - talk about creative, and delicious, filled with tomatoes and fresh ricotta. Others had stuffed shrimp, cavatelli, and chicken parm, all of which received great reviews. The waiter was very attentive and was always checking in us to make sure we had everything we needed. We were so full we didn't want dessert but the Monday manager Annie brought over the deconstructed chocolate pie with 2 candles because she knew it was my birthday. What service! I had lamb which couldn't have been better. It is expensive, everything is extra, including bread. We chose the DISH bread, and it was really good! The desserts were really extra-special, and not too big; even you think you're full, you have to get one! The atmosphere was great, modern but comfortable. There was a band playing in the bar area, but it was not too loud, it added to the ambiance. Their mixture of steakhouse classics and more creative dishes left everyone happy. We thought the kettle chips and cheese sauce were overrated, but the tangy twist on a wedge salad with Russian dressing and radishes was fantastic, and they happily split a "kitchen sink" salad for my grandparents to share. Meat was cooked perfectly, and my mom was over the moon about her three-course lobster prix fixe. Cocktails were a highlight: my girlfriend loved her martini, made with house-infused olive-and-jalapeno vodka. Only "negative" was the comments/attitude of the server towards the women in our party. When taking orders, he started with one of the men, who in turn, suggested he start with the ladies in our party. To which the server replied "Oh first they want equal pay, equal rights, and now they want first service?" After that, he referred to the women at the table as "the troublemakers".
