My husband and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary dining at the Dirty Dog. We had been planning to dine there, sorry we waited so long! The decor was beautiful, the service was friendly and the music by the Charles Boles Quartet was fabulous (he even gave a special shout out to us and chatted with us table side for a while, this made our experience even more memorable. We even took home an autographed CD so we can relive the experience anytime). The duck fat fries were so good and the salmon was prepared just right! My husband had the fork and knife burger, it was so juicy and the fried egg and foie gras garnish was outstanding! We will certainly be back soon to try other tasty treats and enjoy great music in a relaxed atmosphere.

First timers (5) of us, including two from Paris. From our Server Lauren to the Valet Adam to the Mgr. & Hostess, everyone was friendly and courteous. The food was excellent (except maybe the too spicy ketchup for the french fries ) and small but varied Menu guaranteed you would find something you would like. Will definitely be back and spread the word about this Gem. Band was excellent and the Singer was good.

I've wanted to go to the Dirty Dog for quite some time. Being an avid Jazz fan and loving fine food, I took the opportunity to go there to celebrate my Birthday. I had the Short ribs while my wife had the filet mignon. Great food, great music a good time was had to be sure. My only complaint was service was a bit slow, but not too bad. Will go back at the first chance.

I took my family to the Dirty Dog Jazz Café to celebrate my aunt's 87th birthday. Everything was fantastic. Here are the specifics: each of us in my party of five raved about the quality of food (and service). I had the short rib and it was perfect. My aunt had the very special "open face burger," and she (at 87 years of age) said that it was the best hamburger she has ever eaten. I know it sounds strange to give such praise to a lowly hamburger, but you really have to see this one to appreciate it. While we ate, we were entertained by one of the crown jewels of Detroit, the Charles Boles Quartet. They were splendid. Extra bonus: Larry Coryell and Ralphe Armstrong were sitting at the bar. Heaven in the Motor City.

We had an excellent night at the Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe. The food was great; i had the filet, which was cooked perfectly and my wife had the vegetarian dish. We started with the tomato soup which had oustanding flavor! Our server was very nice and friendly. She was helpful with the menu and the wines. Great jazz music. We had a very nice experience and would definitely go back.

Never listened to jazz before but reviews were good and I was looking for something different to do for dinner. We went on a Thursday with 6pm reservations. It was a great time. Our waitress was awesome and she stretched the meal out so we could enjoy the full show. The food is good, maybe a bit expensive but for a special evening, it's perfect.

Over rated. My wife and I went for our anniversary and it was not the best choice for us. It took along time for us to be waited on ( there was hardly any one there in the first place) and when we finally did get service, it seemed as though we were annoying the waitress slightly. The saving grace was the jazz and the food. We may go back but we will not be in a hurry.

Yet another visit to the Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe proved to be a fun experience with good food. He is another promising and entertaining jazz talent in the Detroit area. I look forward to my next visit.

My girlfriend and I like trying new places for dinner all over the metro Detroit area. Dirty Dog had some great reviews and I heard it was a great spot for a romantic date night. The good: Live music with a romantic setting. The bad: The 2 top table setup is very poor as one person faces the wall and the other person faces the stage. My girlfriend and I sat on the same side to view the stage, but it made eating dinner a little tough because we were so squished together. The food prices were a bit high for the quality. Don't waste your money on a dinner entree and go someplace else for dessert. I would suggest you order a few of the small plates as you enjoy the show and they will be much easier to eat in such a small space.

So wonderful to have dinner and entertainment in such an intimate setting. The food was completely awesome right from the soup and down to the dessert. I requested the salmon not be done an inch beyond medium. It was so perfectly done, I just had to mention it to the waitress. The knife and fork burger was described as better than any other he'd ever had previously. The portions were perfect and flavors blended together with perfection. The waitress was as very professional, yet warm, and often so stealth, we never knew she'd been there to refill water or bring another drink. The entertainment was just awesome and seeing local talent of such a high caliber just brought a thrill and pride to our hearts. Dirty Dog, you rock!
