A word from Dio Deka
Michelin star recipient San Francisco Bay & Wine country for 2011 & 2012.

"At Dio Deka the refined and technically precise Greek and Mediterranean dishes are elevated to stellar levels.”- anonymously by the Michelin inspector

"…vividly flavored, brilliantly executed food, that transcends ethnicity but still tastes Greek…”- Gourmet Magazine

Award of Ultimate Distinction- Wine Enthusiast, Restaurant Awards

“memorable modern Greek cuisine" that “would make them jealous in Athens”, particularly when paired with an “extensive wine list” worthy of Dionysus; the five owners provide “over-the-top” service in the spirit of filoxenia (the art of hospitality) for what’s sure to be a "big fat Greek night" out. - Zagat

Everything was okay not more than that. The rest is overpriced. They used to have Michlin stars but I'm not sure if they still do. The food was okay again overpriced.

We celebrated our anniversary at Dio Deka, this year on a Sunday night. Food was delicious and elegantly presented. We had the brussel sprout appetizer, topped with a "slow egg" that was nothing short of marvelous. The egg gave a lovely creamy consistency to the roasted carmelized sprouts. YUM! The lamb shank with cheesy polenta tasted like a bit of heaven and the grilled branzino, as usual, was perfectly cooked and presented. Our server, the rare professional, took our lead and paced our meal perfectly. Our 2 1/2 hour dinner gave us time to truly celebrate 41 years of marriage. We enjoyed every bit of our dinner at Dio Deka!

We greatly enjoyed our first visit. The varied menu gave us ample choice, and all our selections proved delicious. The pork tenderloin was outstanding. Dio Deka has the largest wine list we have ever seen. A South African pinotage (Neil Ellis) paired well with the pork and lamb shank entrees. We will definitely return.

My wife and I were well aware of Dio Deka's superb reputation and decided to go there to celebrate her birthday. When I made the reservation I mentioned the occasion in the notes to the restaurant. Once seated we were given menus with "Happy Birthday" printed at the top, and after our delicious dinner my wife was presented with complimentary Loukoumathes (Greek beignets) on a Happy Birthday plate with a candle! We had a wonderful time, the staff was extremely attentive, and of course the food was fantastic. We will be back soon!

The food is awesome as is the service. The server is super friendly, helpful, chatty and engaging. Appetizer portions are always on the small side and the place is pricy. But we always come for special occasions or when we want to treat ourselves. It's actually one of our teen's favorite restaurant. Steaks are great lamb chops are great. Tzatziki and taramoslata is great. saganaki is great. The side dishes are sometimes a little over salted as is the pita bread.

If you love Greek food, you will, in turn, love Dio Deka. Starting with the appetizers of octopus, Brussel sprouts and calamari, then moving on to the lamb chops--which three of the four of us ordered or the lighter fish dishes, you will certainly enjoy your dining experience. Mediterranean food, especially Greek dishes, are some of our favorites. And, the atmosphere was open, yet subdued. We sat right next to the open kitchen and appreciated the show. Our waiter was outstanding; he was able to recommend the appropriate starters and the wine. His explanations of what he recommended were clear and were very helpful in guiding our decisions. We recommend you visit Dio Deka and often.

I was nervous about dining here for my wife's birthday after reading many of the recent reviews on here. But our experience was outstanding. We thought the food was excellent. I am half Greek and grew up eating my Yaiya's (Greek for grandma) food, so I'm very familiar with the cuisine. We had dolmathes and the octopus as appetizers. The octopus is unique and we both loved it. My wife had the moussaka and loved it. I had the braised lamb shank. I asked the waiter to pair it with a wine he would recommend, and he chose a wonderful wine from northern Greece that I had never had before. We received excellent service from our waiter. The restaurant was probably 3/4 full. We had a wonderful time, and would happily go back again.

We had been to Dio Deka quite a few times before. It seems prices have inched up quite a lot. The wine list, though extensive, is overpriced, with a substantial markup. The food was generally very good, but our waitress did not seem to have a lot of time for us, we had to wait for her for some time to order, and then when we needed something. Overall, comparing Dio Deka to other restaurants around here, the price/performance ratio is not in line. I don't think we will be going back there any time soon.

It's no wonder that a Michelin Star was taken away. The service was horrible a restaurant in this price range. It felt as if though one waiter was serving 10+ tables and I think in reality it wasn't far from it. I resorted to asking the busboy to give me the dessert menu, which...of course was acknowledged and then ignored. The main dishes were OK where as the appetizers were just unacceptable. The ribs were way over cooked and I've had better Mediterranean appetizers in hole-in-the-wall restaurants.

We had a nice anniversary dinner. They had special touches like "Happy Anniversary" on our menu, and a free dessert with the same message on the plate. The food was delicious, and even though I got one of their cheapest wines, it was great too. Although it is a Greek restaurant, it is more upscale and doesn't have gyros sandwiches. I will definitely recommend it and we will return sometime.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Los Gatos for our 27 wedding anniversary. I made reservations with the hotel front desk and in our conversation, I told the Consier that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. She must have made a note of it. When we arrived, we were greeted with menus that said, "Happy Anniversaey"! Then our waiter, Tony, was awesome! He greeted us with saying, 'Happy Anniversary". He was very attentive and the whole staff made us feel special. The food was great. Moussaka was very delicious my husband loved the lamb chops. Nice variety in menu selection. Highly recommend reservation at least a week in advance.

I've been to Dio Deka twice now and both times had about the same experience. It's a beautiful spot in a great location. The food is just "ok". If you expect outstanding, go to Evvia - at Dio Deka you're going to get above average. The scallops were overly salty, the steak is some of the most expensive in the bay area, but nothing special... the Lamb is probably the best thing on the menu, but again, nothing to knock your socks off. The service is where things really fall short. The food runners are trying to keep up so hard they quickly set down plates at the corner of your table and scurry off, instead of trying to "serve" the plate. It was kind of bizarre for a $600 dinner for 4 people to have such lackluster service. Meh.

Let me start by saying, the food at Dio Deka is phenominal. We arrived 40 minutes early for our reservation so we decided to sit outside and have a drink while we waited. It took about 15 minutes before anyone noticed we were there. Menus were brought and set on the table in front of us. 5 minutes later we ordered drinks. It took 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. Meanwhile, our reservation time arrived. Nobody came to seat us and our waitress had disappeared. Finally we were able to locate our waitress and we asked her if our table was ready. She told us to go to the host stand and ask. Long story short, we didn't think we should have to do so much work at a restaurant where we would be spending over $300 on a meal!

Dio was the 'it' place when it opened and it's high quality food and service lasted quite a while. Dio these days is still good, it's just not great. The service is good when not too busy but gets thin when the place fills up and seems understaffed. The biggest difference is that the food used to be fantastic and now it's just good but the same price, if not more.

We came here for our anniversary. Everyone loved their dish, except for me. I ordered the pork. What was I thinking? Dio Deka does lamb better than any other restaurant I've been to, and our guests raved about their lamb shank and lamb chops. My pork was dry, hard, and tough. We will definitely venture back and stick with the tried and true lamb. The service was outstanding and we love the setting.

The food was perfect (per usual), the staff was very helpful and quick to refill water/pita bread. Being that this was an anniversary dinner, they made it really special by telling us "happy anniversary" not only verbally, but it was also printed on the menus. I've eaten here several times - with a large group, a group of four and most recently with just my husband. It was top notch every time and the food was consistently outstanding. The grilled octopus starter is to die for, the brussels sprouts (even without the bacon) were outstanding and the honey was divine. I had the brazino as the main course and it was perfectly done, a very good portion, and the potatoes are to die for. Ending the night with the loukoumathes (Greek beignets) was the perfect choice. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Dio Deka. The restaurant is located in the beautiful Hotel Los Gatos and the ambiance is inviting. The staff, without exception, were gracious and welcoming. Our waiter was superb and helpful. The food, from the delicious pita bread and selection of Greek dips to two of the most wonderful steaks we have ever had, was exquisite and memorable. Our waiter did not push expensive wine on us. Upon hearing we would share one glass of wine with our meal, he recommended a superb Pinot Noir that complemented the meal perfectly. It was a 10 out of 10 evening. We will definitely return.
