Diner Reviews
  • "Fun atmosphere, good food and personable servers who were very attentive."

  • "I have been to this restaurant many times and the food is always good. What is holding me back from giving more stars is the very inconsistent service. Sometimes it is great and sometimes it is dreadful. In particular, I've always found the bar staff to be particularly slow and make an error on the order. Overall, I think this place is trying to get by on a low number of staff and they need to increase the numbers. There are some really good staff members there but they are always running about at 100mph trying to keep on top of things."

  • "Really good BBQ.....in Stamford, CT! Who'd have thought! Harlem's gem has a location in Stamford. 3 of us ate...with leftovers for $50 including tip. Great great pulled pork! Really good ribs. Amazing wings. Wango tango sauce is the bomb. Will go again. And again."

  • "Coming from NY there is a Dinosour Barbeque closer in the city. But to pull up park and be served offers a good review. Make the trip you won't be dissapointed."

  • "Food was good, service was quick. This was not our first time and it will not be our last."
    Dined on 7/3/2014
  • "Good food but way too noisy to speak with anyone in your group (and we were sitting in a quiet corner!). Worth it if you like ribs and meat, but also nice that there are options for non-meat eaters. Good kids menu too, although not overly kid friendly (crowded space)."

  • "Went on a friday night for live band but did not get any live band playing. Other than that, food standard as usual."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "Nothing to rave about or complain about, you know what your getting here...good ribs, pulled pork, large portions, friendly service, big crowds on a Friday night. If it's what your in the mood for you'll enjoy it!"

  • "Been to the Rochester and Syracuse locations more times than I could count, all great experiences!…Was expecting a similar time in Stamford. Not even close. Bar had a horrible "late night club" smell (dirty) to it and an incredibly inattentive bartender…Ordered nachos, came out on a sparse plate, coated with….cheeze whiz…really… Got seated for dinner. Service was so bad, they actually bought a us a round of drinks, which showed up on the bill as an add, then deduct…Were they expecting to be tipped on the round?!? Food came out late, cold and slapped on the plate. Could not settle our tab and get outa there fast enough. Disappointing to say the least."

  • "Dinosaur Barbecue is disappointing on all levels. The service is less than adequate, the food is not good, commercial grade at best, overly salted and presented in an ugly fashion; the environment is Theme-park-like, noisy and wholly unpleasant. The service is amateurish. We had been to this location in the past and chalked up its deficiencies to its newness, but now there is simply no excuse. Our latest experience was terrible from the moment we walked in the door. Our feeling is very much that like the dinosaurs it is named after, this restaurant should be extinct."

  • "The sauce used on the barbecued items was delicious. You can make your own combos of two or three different items, The combo plates come with two sides and a corn muffin. The portions are average size and desserts are very good too."

  • "Food was good. Had terrible experience. Fire alarm went off 3 or 4 times. Fire Dept came. Loud high pitched alarm freightened children, were screaming"

  • "this but service was way too fast! I read several reviews before we booked reservations for a Friday night and we were prepared to wait and then the complete opposite happened. We arrived on time and were seated immediately. The server asked if she could get us drinks. We took a minute to decide and order and when she returned with them we were ready to order an appetizer and dinner. About 8 minutes later, all of our food was delivered by a different server. When I commented that we wanted the appetizer first and then the dinner, he apologized and said he would take our dinner back to the kitchen and let our server know, but we declined and kept everything. I didn't want my food under heat lamps. We were done 40 mins after we arrived."

  • "I get in these ways where I'm craving good barbeque. Dinosaur Barbeque usually satisfies that craving. This time it was in Stamford; time before we went to Harlem site. Both good. Good fried green tomatoes and ribs and I lovvvvve the mac 'n cheese. Actually....its all good!"

  • "I am not a barbecue food lover, but after dining at Dinosaur Bar B Que, I want to come back! The food was tasty. The ribs, chicken, pulled pork and corn muffins are yummy!! Booking the reservation through their web site reduced the wait time. Our waiter was very nice and efficient. Will definitly return."

  • "Food is always good and people leave satisfied. Sometimes takes a while to get food out of the kitchen, but would rather it that way than having it all pre-cooked and then delivered within five minutes of ordering. A keeper."

  • "We had a reservation but had to wait a long time...very disorganized. Food was great but kitchen was slow."
    Dined on 5/23/2014
  • "Personally thought that they had a good selection of beer on tap. Nachos and sampler plate was good and thought the plates were a good size with out being so much. You can tell that they actually bbq on site which was nice. "

  • "My spouse and I and our three kids thought the food was delicious. We all had different entrees and sides each of us loved everything in our plates!! It was our first time and we can't wait to go back!!!"

  • "Way too much sugar in sides. Sugar is just NOT a necessary ingredient. Leave it out!"

  • "Great place. Loved the down home decor and atmosphere. Def didn't feel like I was in Stamford CT. Felt like we was visiting somewhere in the south. The sweet tea was amazing! We had a great time"

  • "We've eaten at Dinosaur numerous times now and have never been disappointed (except with our overeating their food!!!). The mac and cheese is the best ever but super rich, so don't overindulge. Fried green tomatoes another favorite starter. Can't go wrong with the pulled pork or ribs, but honestly everything is delicious."

  • "Restaurant was busy but nor overcrowded. We had a reservation and were seated upon arrival. The server was pleasant and attentive. The deviled eggs were very salty but the fried green tomatoes were enjoyed by all! "

  • "I enjoyed my meal but the kids mac and cheese had so much pepper in it. I myself found it over whelming I told the waitress and she says she has told the chef that many have complained about it and they wont change the recipe for the kids dish. So I ordered a grilled cheese and was charged for it. Safe bet just order grilled cheese unless your kid loves black pepper."

  • "Great bbq and a really nice menu. Excellent service and we will return when the urge for bbq hits us again."

  • "Have always loved Dino, and this location is a stand-out. Not only was the food excellent...the service was top notch! "May we have cornbread instead?" Response: cornbread given. "We didn't know this side came with dressing." Response: "What else can I get for you?" This level of hospitality is unusual these days. And the kicker is that they're mailing us a driver's license we left behind. This place is a gem, our family and friends are going to know about our experience, and we'll definitely be back!"

  • "This place is good for familes and quick lunches. I just wanted to test it out, not my type of restaurant. But everyone else in my group enjoyed their meal, They do make the best mojitos! "

  • "As always, good stuff!! We dine here at least once a month, special occasions, etc. Always a good time, always great food and a fun place to enjoy with friends and family."

  • "Great atmosphere, food and service. First time there. I would recommend the family style meal for 4-6. Plenty of food. Can't wait to try appetizers next time I go!"

  • "Our food was incredibly salty n spicy. I wish we were told beforehand that everything had a kick to it. Even the kids mac n cheese had to much peppercorn in it. None of the kids could eat it. the ambiance and service was okay but we were a party of 12 & the majority ofus were dissapointed in the food. I will not be returning."

  • "We are a family of 4 with 2 kids 9 and 6. We frequent bobby q's in Westport and thought we would try something new. The place is huge but glad weave a reservation as there were a number of people waiting 20+ min. For a table. The fried tomatoes were a delicious start to the meal. Brisket was yummy. Ribs not the fall of the bone yumminess we are used to but decent. Waiter was friendly but service was slow and hard to get attention. My 9 year year daughter told the waiter it was my birthday in hopes of a cake with candle but nada. Fun atmosphere, definitely kid friendly, large tables for group and decent food but very crowded and service slow. "

  • "Hostess did not have the best personality for greeting OR saying goodbye. We also had to wait a half hour for a table with a reservation and was told by her that "we were late so she gave our table away". I don't call being THREE minutes late LATE. Besides who tells a customer, "well you were late"? Nice attitude......"

  • "Had eaten at Dinosaur in Rochester... food was much better there. Food here came luke warm, not as appetizing and a little undercooked on the ribs."

  • "Reservation was for a surprise birthday celebration. Went the day before to check arrangement. Met Catering Mgr, assured table in secluded area would be ours. Guests arrive and rudely told no such table available and squeezed 6 people into a table for 4. After complaining to Mgr, the group was moved to a hastily set up table in desired area and apologies made."

  • "We went to Dinosaur for my 30th birthday lunch. The food was good, but our server was terrible. I started by, asking about the beer list, and received a rude reply. My hunch turned out to be correct though - the beer list was outdated. I ordered a Half Full Pale Ale from the menu. I was brought a dark beer. I drank it as I am pretty sure it was Half Full's Rye IPA, which I enjoy, but it was not what I ordered. I asked the server what she brought me. She didn't know and didn't apologize for not bringing me what I ordered or at least telling me that it was no longer on tap. Also, It was noted as my birthday in the reservation, but no one wished me a happy birthday. I'm not expecting anything for free, but an acknowledgement."

  • "Ribs - $26.99 - that feature a heavy leather-dry outer bark? DinoBBQ cookbook: important to use mop to keep meats from drying out. Too bad don't practice what they preach. Maybe leaving racks of ribs drying out under heat lamps is not good strategy. But that doesn't explain the uninspired pulled chicken. Shame Dino's sides better than entrees. Nice beer menu so guess focus is less on grub and more on pub ($$). I own a smoker and have had real BBQ in the South, so was excited to hear Dino was coming to CT. Heard so much about place from folks that have been to its upstate NY original venues, guess the magic hasn't been passed along to CT. When not using my smoker, think I'll stick with Bobby Qs: better ribs/overall food quality & value."

  • "Food was tasty, particularly the pulled pork and the chicken wings. Fine BBQ. Waiter was a dud, trying to rush us from moment one. Bar staff and maître d were very pleasant."

  • "Finger licking good food, that will leave you craving more! Try the "any 3 combo" and sides - the brisket, ribs and chicken are favorites. Sides of mac & cheese, cole slaw, potato salad, broccoli & carrot salad, or black beans & rice are good to the last bite! A good lunch alternative, but I would expect it to get very busy as the weather warms up outside. The bar and high-top tables are a relaxed alternative to the restaurant."
