Well, at Dino, you never get “soulless” & our rotisserie chicken gets raves! Our private room holds 20 and we have a semi private area for 30. The entire 2nd floor holds up to 60. We specialize in family style feasts where your group is served large platters of the food Dino has become famous for serving: rustic Italian dishes made from top notch ingredients in a simple style! We let our ingredients speak for themselves. Antipasti, Dino’s famous cured meats & cheeses, house made pastas, platters of roasted or rotisserie meats and house made desserts will leave your guests full and happy. We can also match wines to go with each course or just pick a red and white for all. Our experience is that family style dining makes your evening at Dino convivial, fun & memorable. Getting there

  • Cross Street: Ordway Street between Macomb & Porter
  • Public Transit: Metro Red Line, Cleveland Park Stop. Exit East side of the street. Dino is 100 meters to the south of the stop, across Ordway Street.
  • Parking: Street Parking
  • Parking Details: Parking in Cleveland Park can be tight, so please consider Metro or leave yourself sufficient time to find a spot. The best parking is north and east of the restaurant. Rodman & Porter usually offer the best spots to park. At 6:30 pm the meter restrictions end on Connecticut so that is a great time to reserve Monday thru Friday. Thee is a pay lot across the street at the Stop & Shop (although we cannot validate for the lot). We do not offer valet parking.

Having had a great dinner eons ago when Dino's was new, I made sure to have a crack at enjoying it before it moves to a location that's not so convenient for me. I'm sure moving out had an effect on the food, because I was really disappointed, and I tried three times. Even the same dish was different at different times.

This restaurant is moving, but one member of our party is a regular patron. Food is Italian but not the standard Italian-Americcan staples, more like the Italian food you get in Italy. Very good value.

My friends and I love Dino- we've been during multiple Restaurant Weeks, and even at other times throughout the year. So, when we heard it was closing and moving to Shaw, we wanted to go one last time. As always, the food and service were excellent, and they were very accommodating of my friend's baby. I hope things work out for Dino in the new neighborhood, and we'll come back to try it out soon!

We made a last minute reservation based on other reviews for an "Italian gem in DC"... we went on Valentine's evening: service was very very slow (restaurant was full so we can understand the delays) but the food ranged from average to mediocre. We will not return to this restaurant.

I heard good things about this restaurant but it was shockingly bad. The risotto tasted like dry rice-a-roni with mushy beans and fishy tasting shrimp. The tomato soup lacked salt. The braised beef shank was nothing but a few chunks of soft, fatty meat floating in a greasy garlic liquid with a plate of mushy, flavorless beans on the side. The tiramisu tasted like cool whip and dry spongecake with too much cocoa powder on top. Wow. And It was expensive too! The bill with wine and tip came to over $200.

I am not a frequent customer to Dino, but when I do go it is always a wonderful experience. I think that I recommend Dino more than anything and I do hear good reviews back from colleagues and friends who do take me up on my recommendation. While I am sad to see Dino close its doors after eight years, I look forward to the new Dino Grotto opening in a few months. Thanks for the memories, good food and wine. Dean and Kay wishing you all the Best, Rachel

  • Dinner with friends at Dino's

We have always loved dining at Dino's. It is a wonderful neighborhood "gem". We usually get something different and share around the table. We all passed around the lamb shank, the lasagna, the chicken on a brick and a wonderful seafood dish. All of the pastas at Dino's are something special. The pasta is made in house and very delicate. Melts in your mouth...... The meats are so tender that they "fall away" at the touch of a fork. We splurged on dessert this time as well going with the chocolate torte and the apple "pancake". It was a wonderful evening with good food and great friends! The only bad part of the evening?? Finding out that Dino's is changing locations!

a friend and I love this place, but it's not convenient or even remotely easy for us to get to. I'm sad to see them close. We're hoping to get back 1 or 2 more times before they close and we're really looking forward to their new location which will be MUCH EASIER to get to, but it'll be so different, so it still makes me sad. We had their $35 tasting menu and got a really expensive bottle of wine for 33% off! It was all so yummy. We did the lamb pasta instead of the boar, but we're hoping we can make it back in one more time and do the boar. I had the fish and my friend had the goat stew (I'm not a fan of picking off the bone, so no goat stew for me). There was so much food, we both had enough for lunch the next day!

Great food at a fair price. Service is usually good, but was a bit slow/off on my most recent visit. This is a gem that seems overlooked in the Cleveland Park neighborhood. It's a shame they plan to move to U st., but hopefully they will flourish there. CP locals will miss this one for sure!

Plus: Wonderful food that is most definitely not cookie cutter Italian restaurant fare. The server, Jenny, was warm and helpful as we ordered. Everything from the bread to the dessert was executed to perfection. Minus: While tasty, the vinegar drink would probably work better in a huggable glass rather than a standard tall glass.

I went to brunch with 9 friends for my birthday. I decided on Dino because my boyfriend and I had eaten dinner there before and it was incredible and they had a pretty good brunch deal ($9 bottomless). The food was amazing - I had steak & eggs but others in my group ordered the bread pudding, the nutella-stuffed french toast and the burger and all were enjoyed greatly. The service was excellent and they even brought me birthday ice cream. I wish this place wasn't moving because it's current location is so close to my apartment, but I will definitely be coming to visit it at its new location in Shaw! Thank you!

Bread is great; wine choices are well-described and the wine specials provide access to really wonderful wines at very reasonable prices. Swordfish and lamb pasta were excellent and substantial; cabbage/mushroom mixture was a bit heavy on the oil. Brussel sprouts -- even without the pork belly -- were super. We're going to miss Dino in the neighborhood when it closes in about a month. Let's hope the new location meets the same high standards.

As usual, we had a terrific experience at Dino and we're so glad they've decided to keep the Cleveland Park location (closer to us!) until Feb. 23. Our waitress, Ginny, was very good - professional yet friendly. We enjoyed our appetizers of deviled eggs with trout roe and sunchokes with walnuts. The chicken under a brick entree was tasty as was the swordfish. Both were accompanied by kale, the superfood of the moment and one we love. I was stuffed so couldn't finish the delicious hazelnut and chocolate pie. The pear crumble was good particularly with the spicy peppercorn ice cream. Yum!!

Our recent dinner was both a 19th birthday celebration for our daughter (her choice), and a farewell to Dino at Conn. Ave. From Dean's own warm "Happy Birthday" as we entered, to a "See you soon!" from our server as we left--the evening was wonderful. While the food and wine choice was as flawless as expected--the evening was most notable for our server's ability to take care of us both unobtrusively, and with warmth. Checking to see what specials were still available as this was Dino's next to last night at the Conn. Ave location--to gracefully correcting a small glitch from the kitchen. Dino has become a "Celebration Destination" for our family, and we will happily follow to the new location at 1914 9th Street NW in Shaw!

We'd heard Dino was one of the few places in town that serves the Feast of Seven Fishes for Christmas Eve. We were delighted with their choice of presentation for this traditional Italian meal. We came here to celebrate a friend's 30th birthday because she loves all things Italian. We had a wonderful time and the food did not disappoint. Our service was quick and our server attentive. The only drawback from our experience is that they knew we were there celebrating a special occasion but didn't seem to acknowledge it all except when the hostess asked about our table preference. Other than that we didn't get any kind of special recognition which is disappointing. I realize that Dino is a small family-owned business, but even a complimentary cocktail for the birthday girl would have made a difference. Overall though we had an excellent experience (as we always do whenever we dine at Dino) and highly recommend it!
