  • COULD BE SO MUCH BETTER!

This was our first time at DiNardo's and unfortunately, I have to agree with many of the other reviewers that the dining experience was underwhelming. My husband and I shared a bowl of NE clam chowder (slightly underseasoned, but easily remedied with some salt & pepper), fried calamari (huge platter, crispy, and well cooked with two great dipping sauces), and the broiled seafood platter (enough for two - best thing on the plate was the crab cluster, which was obviously fresh, well cooked, sweet and juicy - the rest of it was just OK). The staff were welcoming and friendly, but our waitress forgot everything from the cutlery to the dipping sauces and had to re-visit the table numerous times. We were never offered a drinks menu and ended up just ordering soda. The decor is definitely in need of an upgrade. It is tired, dated, and a little depressing. If the restaurant and menu were both spruced up a little, I think this place could be a charming rustic destination restaurant. We truly believe DiNardo's could be so much better with a little TLC. In the meantime, we have no plans to return and would steer our friends and family to other dining options.

The service was great. Debbie took great care of my party. The steak had no taste and the crabs also needed some more favor. The soups were great. Overall, it did not live up to the expectations that I heard about.

The place was a little run down on the inside; there was duck tape holding my seat together. The waitress was good, but the other staff members were loitering around my table being very loud. The food was sub par.. Sand in my over done, luke warm clams. Tiny portions. Decent quality, but nothing special. Way overpriced for the quality. Spent $70 for 2 entrees and 1 app... You can go somewhere else and get a much nicer dinner for that price. If I would have spent $40 for hat dinner I wouldn't have been as disappointed. Would not recommend for dinner

  • Great Food, Horrible Parking
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014
    Dined on 11/8/2014
I thought the food was excellent, very quick and friendly service. The only downfall is that parking was horrible. You can't park anywhere near the restaurant at night unless you want to pay $20 for a garage. My girlfriend and I ended up pulling into a parking lot that advertised $8 parking but there was nobody around to give us a ticket or take our money. We were worried the whole time that we would get towed.

First off, as an early diner(6:00) I was put off by the smell of bleach/disinfectant in the air, very unappetizing, but that dissipated or I just got used to it as dinner progressed. Crab bisque was soup of the day and was very good. Second course steamed crabs arrived quickly along with my crab cake entree. Husband was never offered a bib and luckily didn't ruin his shirt. All other tables seemed to have bibs. Other tables had snifters with oyster crackers, we were never offered those either. Had to ask for extra napkins, had to ask for wet wipes at the end of the meal. Felt like we were treated as second class because we had a dining cert from CBSLocal offers but that may just be my impression. Have 2nd cert so will give it one more try

It's hard to find Baltimore style blue crab here in Philly. I go here just to eat the crabs which are expensive but so good. Sadly, the interior is desperate for a remodel. The seats are torn and tapped with red tape for goodness sake. They charge over $25.00 for most entrees but when you don't have a trendy cool or even elegant interior it's hard to charge those rates. The soup does not even taste house made. The bread is bad, it's just not the kind of place that should charge those kind of prices. However when I have a taste for good crabs I go and I pay for the crabs. If they remodel and made more items in house, including the bread this would be a great place. It does have a awesome location. If they fixed it up, I would go more often.

Always wanted to check them out, mainly because we were looking for a new seafood restaurant home. Well, the opportunity came through an Amazon voucher!! I took my sister for her 40something birthday. Service was awesome! The staff goes above & beyond to see that you're pleased. THE FOOD?!?! DELICIOUS!! Everything was seasoned well & cooked to perfection & there's nothing like a good cocktail to top it all off. Oh! Did I mention our server? Mikey, LOVE HIM!! Polite, eager to assist but not over bearing, knows the menu like the back of his hand & good looking ;-D. Yes, we have found our new seafood restaurant home!! Sis loved it! Thanks you guys for making my sister's birthday special.

I went to DiNardo's because I heard that's the place to go for Crabs, specifically Extra Jumbo. When our server said they were out I asked her to please check. A moment later she came back and said their shipment had just come in. They were fabulous and I took a couple home with me. Beer selection was great. The menu had a lot of good stuff on it so I have to go back again.

My sister was visiting me here in Philadelphia and is a huge seafood fan. I convinced her that Dinardo's was a " neighborhood gem" and much better then the chain restaurants she may want to go to. Very disappointing, Her three crabs were touch, flavorless and greasy, my "lump crab" was the same. NO sides came with her meal, and that was not explained, the sides that came with mine were bland and flavorless, also cold. Horrible experience food wise, service was spotty and non communicative. Will not recommend or go back.. ever.

My mom had found a groupon to Dinardos which is somewhere she has been dying to go. We had a great time; service was fantastic and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We shared a platter or oysters and then a special that consisted of crab cakes wrapped in salmon fillets. It was delicious and the seafood was fresh! So fabulous. Would highly recommend everyone go.

Food was good, got the seafood combo and the portions were generous. However, the restaurant was very noisy to the point of annoying. The group next to us was extremely loud and inappropriate, making it very difficult for my friend and I to have any conversation at all. While the food was good, it is not worth enough to me to go back to a place where many of the patrons seemed to find yelling over each other in a restaurant acceptable.

It was a bit pricey but its alright to splurge on a special occasion. The waiter was very friendly and didn't miss a trick. Super expensive for mediocre food. Crabs were not worth the money. Bread was stale. Best part was the bottled beer. This is a whole in the wall restaurant that was probably once nice, but now needs seriously updating. The service was incredibly friendly, but besides that, I'd never pay $150 for this quality food again. For $150, I want good crabs. I could have gone to a place in Rittenhouse for less money.

Had been there years ago.. wanted to celebrate my 50th birthday there after a Philly tour. Had my husband and 4 kids. Service was excellent, it was late afternoon, before dinner hour and on Labor Day, so no crowds I had 3 crabs at $9.00 each. 2 were very charred/black on outside, first I thought it was dark from over seasoning The meat tasted dry/burned inside and they were stated as large, only size they had that day. But they were smallish. Were not good at all, but didn't complain because I had my kids with me; my husband had gone to a lot of trouble to make day special for me and I didn't want to bring everyone down. I would have thought that end of summer crabs would have been bigger, but they were over steamed/ black on outside.

We dined here last week with a group visiting from out of town. They wanted a Maryland style crab experience, and DiNardo's seemed to be the only city place offering such. We were not disappointed. The crabs were large, VERY meaty and perfectly cooked. They were a bit pricy, but in the end, thanks to the amount of meat inside, we did not go away hungry. My husband also ordered a fried seafood platter that featured the sweetest scallops I have had this year. We enjoyed the personal touch given by a visit from the owner of the restaurant, and our overall experience exceeded our expectations. We will return when in the mood for simply prepared and impeccably fresh seafood.

I am a long time hard shell crab eater and was disappointed during my recent vacation on LBI when there were no crabs. So we went to DiNardo's where we have eaten many times before. I ordered 3 jumbo crabs which were not jumbos but more accurately could be described as large. Two of them were overcooked and mushy. The third was better but I've never had this experience at DiNardo's before so I thought I'd should mention my disappointment. My server did offer to have someone in the kitchen clean the crabs for me which was helpful. I had never been offered that in the past.
