Diner Reviews
  • "The setting itself at DPOV is magical. It is great news that the food is equally as wonderful. We dined outside on a beautiful evening. We were offered delicious focaccia bread with 3 fun spreads to start while we sipped and enjoyed the view. We next shared the grilled endive salad. The grilled endive and pancetta were fabulous atop mandolined fennel and apple in a very light vinaigrette. The tangy salad flavors were complemented by full flavored gorgonzola. I enjoyed the hangar steak for an entree. It was perfectly cooked (medium/medium rare) and seasoned. Its buttery and char-grilled flavor was beautifully complemented by the smoky tomato basil emulsion. My daughter's seared chicken was moist and delicious as well! Magical meal!"

  • "A few years back, my wife and I had a wonderful dining experience at Different Pointe of View. So, when traveling in Phoenix for a milestone birthday, we were anxious to return. The view remained breathtaking, the food remained delightful, but the service left MUCH to be desired. In addition to a litany of minor complaints, the overall lack of attentiveness was astonishing - so much so that we have little to no desire to return. If you want good food with a good view, dine here. But, if you want an overall fantastic dining experience, you may wish to look elsewhere."

  • "My husband and i went here for our anniversary and it was amazing. Of course the food is pricey but it is melt in your mouth delicious. The views are gorgeous and the staff was very attentive and professional. I would def go again. Even if its just a few of us girls for late nite drinks."

  • "From the moment you arrive in the driveway, this is a fantastic experience. The property is beautifully built into the landscape, the staff is so welcoming and friendly, and the ambiance is WOW! There is not a bad view in the place, it overlooks the valley toward the city. The sunset is amazing from the large deck seating area in the restaurant or bar. The light view is beautiful after dark. They have an extensive wine menu featuring some of the best wines in the world. The service was above and beyond; the servers worked together like a well oiled machine. The food was fantastic. Hint, the lobster bisque is the best we have had in traveling the world. The food presentations are great and the food, well, superb!!"

  • "This restaurant is fantastic. If at all possible request a patio table, the view from there is breathtaking. The service is impeccable and the food is thoughtful and delicious. Top stars in my book, I will absolutely be back."

  • "I wanted to take my husband to a romantic, scenic spot for dinner on his 50th birthday. This was it! They put us at a table on the patio with the most gorgeous views. We had the Chef's tasting dinner with the wine pairings. All five courses were good to excellent. We even discovered some new favorite wines. They brought out a special birthday dessert that was fabulous. But the view before, during and after sunset made the experience one to remember for a long time. We will definitely be back."

  • "The food was superb, my husband had the lamb, it was cooked a PERFECT medium rare. I had the short ribs, they were fall apart tender and the risotto was to die for. We will definately be back, they are very personable and pay attention to most of your needs. One of the lady managers came over and mentioned she'd remembered me from 4 years ago, that was very nice."

  • "I first experienced this restaurant many years ago when planning a meeting at the Pointe Squaw Peak. Our sales director, Julie Hannigan brought us over to this restaurant for dinner. Sometimes over time, restaurants change but I wanted a fantastic dinner for my husband's 40th birthday so I thought, if nothing else, the view doesn't change. I was thrilled that not only did the view not change, the fantastic food and service was still what I remembered. I highly recommend coming early and enjoying drinks and appetizers on the patio. The view is unbelievable!"

  • "I don't ever bother to review restaurants however this amazing restaurant by far exceeded all my extremely high expectations I had. I planned to make this the most memorable night as I did propose to the love of my life here. I can honestly say my waiter was the BEST very knowledgable and helpful making it a very personal and amazing dinner. From the moment I arrived every person I encountered was amazingly generous. The food was exceptional as was the wine selections. The views are indescribable, I will recommend this place to everyone know!"

  • "The Different Pointe of View offered a lovely dining experience with the beautiful view, excellent service and special ambiance. We almost didn't get the opportunity to dine there. I was told by the concierge at the hotel the restaurant and bar were booked for private parties and not available during our stay. The one night the restaurant was open, I was also told no reservations were available. Interestingly, I went online and was able to book a reservation on OpenTable for that evening. While we did wait about 15 minutes to be seated, we were offered a cocktail by the hostess. We will make reservations in advance next time or perhaps just visit the bar that shares that wonderful view."

  • "I hate to say it but the scenic view is breathe taking. The food is good, but not great. I expected more from an establishment of this caliber."

  • "I took a group of clients to this restaurant primarily due to the scenic view, and we were very fortunate to have a fantastic acoustic group playing music for what appeared to be another large business group (Tues night). The service, food, wine, sound levels, scenic view, and just the ride up to the top of the mountain (and free valet parking) proved to be a great evening. My guests commented several times the next day that it was "a great evening". Great Job! to the staff. This is a must for anyone staying in the Lookout Mountain Golf Course vicinity looking for a top notch, romantic, or impressive dinner experience. Doug Backer"

  • "Restaurant is one place we take guests while in Phoenix....view is spectacular"

  • "This restaurant has the best view in the valley. On a clear day/night you can see all the way to South Mountain. The outdoor patio is the best...comfortable seats, fire pit....perfect. However, I was not impressed with the food at all. The creativity that the chef is trying covers up the taste of the food itself and makes it unappetizing. Steamed mussles with sausage??? Terrible smelling and tasted awful. Better to stick to with the basics of butter, broth and garlic. My lobster was poached which destroyed that sweet lobster taste completely. I was wishing for drawn butter. Venison in a brown sugar and blueberry reduction???? The sugar was cooked to long and tasted burnt. Why such strange combinations? Keep it simple."

  • "My wife and I dined here for our 26th Wedding Anniversary. We both loved the view and the excellent food. The scallops were large and probably the best that I have ever had."

  • "Overall our experience was superb! The food was wonderful as well as the environment. The only negative aspect of the restaurant we found was that seeing as we were 3 younger females (in our early twenties) some of the servers weren't very respectful of us. It is very discouraging to go to a restaurant where we bought just as much, if not more, than the average person and not get the respect that you deserve."

  • "Took 20 min for someone to acknowledge us, steak was cooked medium rare instead of ordered medium well, nobody checked on us during our meal, felt like we were in the way."

  • "We had a lovely dinner here. The food was beautifully prepared and presented. Waitstaff was very attentive without being overbearingly present. And of course, the view is beautiful."

  • "One of the best dining experiences we have ever enjoyed. Spectacular scenery; prompt, attentive service; excellent food. The duck was prepared to perfection with a sauce that added some zing. A comprehensive wine list offering vintages across a wide range of prices. A place for a special occasion."

  • "If your outdoor bar is closed, patrons should be notified. We came here for the view and wanted to enjoy a drink at the outdoor setting which is spectacular. This is our second time here...the first time, the outdoor section was closed due to a private party, even though several tables were in a separate section, nowhere near the party. We were willing to give the restaurant a second try, and, again, we were told we could not go outside. Again, several of the outside tables were easily usable. I should have been told this when I reserved, since the views are an important reason for going to this restaurant."

  • "I had high hopes for dinner at Different Pointe of View. My girlfriend and I had been trying to eat here since NYE. I was very excited about going to this restaurant, as was my girlfriend. I ordered an appetizer which was overpriced , but I expected everything to be because it is a nice restaurant. I have no problem eating at a 4 star restaurant and paying obscene prices for their food but it better be good. Our main course was equally disappointing if not more so. The portions were very small ,and quite simply put, the food was not good. In the end, I spent a lot of money on food that was not that good. Quite honestly after eating at this restaurant, I was prepared to never eat out at any restaurant ever again."

  • "this please had the most delicious food, the best view, amazing service, and is probably one of the best places in all of Phoenix. Definitely worth every dime you spend their. It's not cheap but again it is worth it."

  • "Our experience at this restaurant was outstanding and could not be improved in any way. I requested a nice table because the dinner was to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary and the restaurant delivered by seating us at a corner table with 180 degree views of the surrounding mountain, as well as downtown Phoenix. Both the service and the food were excellent to the highest degree. After dinner, we went outside on a patio one level below and enjoyed after dinner drinks with views of downtown Phoenix at night. What a spectacular evening!"

  • "This is a special occasion place - and you'll need many special occasions. First, the view, awesome. Then the service, attentive, helpful and most pleasant. Then the food, beautifully prepared unique combinations featuring both seafood and meats. Everything we ordered was perfectly prepared - particular favorites were the mussels appetizer, the beet salad and for main dishes, the prawns and the lamb was truly magnificent. And you must leave room for desert. And, be prepared for a most pleasant surprise - when the bill comes, you will feel that the meal was more than worth it."

  • "The cocktail waitress on the patio was rude and seemed to not want to be bothered by us, especially when we asked her to take our picture because the sunset was to beautiful. The young man filling water glasses was very friendly and attentive, however our waiter was not attentive or friendly at all. The food was excellent but for the prices we paid we felt that the service was very poor. The cocktail waitress and the waiter seemed like they did not want to be doing their job at all. We were very disappointed with the overall experience. We know what good service is in a restaurant and this one did not have it."

  • "With a party of 5, we tried 4 different mains - a wild boar special, the scallops and the barramundi - which were all excellent and one serious disappointment - the lobster. All the other dining aspects were great."

  • "We had the Chef's 5 course menu that was absolutely delicious. Every course was timed perfectly and the portions for each were just right. Everything we had had great flavour's and melted in your mouth. The only negative comment I will say that the Martinis were very overpriced, and served in the small martini glasses, but that is to be expected with Hotel Prices I guess! Overall we both left very happy and satisfied, had a fantastic dining experience that we will always remember and will definitely be back and also recommend to other people."

  • "Ian was our server and he was very nice, attentive, professional and extremely knowledgeable about the wines. We took his recommendation on the bottle of wine and his recommendation was perfect !! As expected with a high end restaurant the food was excellent - great creations and very flavorful. The only thing I would do different is get there an hour earlier to enjoy the view, watch the sunset and have a drink or two in the bar area."

  • "A few years ago we stayed at the Hilton Pointe Tapatio and found this wonderful restaurant. With a view and ambiance like this , the chef could go on vacation and still fill the seats. That is not the case here. The real struggle is making a choice. Have been here twice now and very impressed both times. A must when traveling to the Phoenix area."

  • "My wife and I took an long time friend with us here for a fine dinner and an enjoyable evening. We achieved both. Of course the view was great but so was the service we received and the meal. We all had a salad and seafood. Everyone raved about their meal. We also had a cocktail and wine. A memorable evening."
