A word from Dick's Last Resort - San Antonio
This is the joint your mama warned you about. Dick’s serves up buckets of barbecued ribs, chicken, catfish, shrimp and crab legs. Platters include steaks, crabby cakes, salmon, chicken and even salads for the wimpy eater. Lunch includes sandwiches, salads and buckets of good food. The wait staff is irreverent by design, and the decor is local garage-sale stuff. Seventy-four kinds of beer. Live music, no cover, no dress code and definitely no class. Billed as "The Rowdy of the River..
Fronted by an exceptional view of the water, there's patio seating year 'round. Come see why Dick's has been River Walk legend since the craziness began in 1987!

Diner Reviews
  • "Brought my family to dine and it was there first time they had been at a Dicks. They had a blast even the 8 year old. Good food too."

  • "Dick's is so much fun for large groups! We did a mother daughter dinner with our 14/15 year olds...a memorably fun evening was had by all."

  • "Made a reservation before traveling to San Antonio (Which I highly recommend or you will be waiting for 2 hours)....table was already ready and we sat down. The alcohol is a little on the high side (11.50 for a 20 oz beer!!!! $25 for a giant margarita with barely enough alcohol) and the inside is very, very warm. But the atmosphere was awesome and our waiter was great. loved the experience for myself and everyone in my bachelorette party!"

  • "The food was extremely over priced. The veggies looked & tasted like it was bought in walmarts frozen food section. If I'm paying 18.99 for a steak I would at least like to enjoy the quality. Catfish tasted like rubber as did the chicken platter. Ck ceaser was over salted. And 21.50 for a margarita that had barely any alcohol. Nope this was probably the worst joint I've ever ate ate. Will never be back even if it was free."

  • "From Michigan and brought a group of 14. Expected what we got from waitstaff, but food was terrible and wrong for half our party. Our bill was $400 & could not even get chicken that evening."

  • "I've gone to 3 different locations over the past few years. Unfortunately San Antonio wasn't up to par from a facilities standpoint. The service team was good but the facility needs help. I ordered a draft beer, it came out room temperature. I was told the keg fridge had quit working the previous night. If it's not cold, just tell me and I'll order a different brand. I asked for something else but was charged for both beers. Was told, "you order edit, you pay for it". They weren't joking unfortunately. The food was just ok, not like the Boston location I've frequented on trips."

  • "The food was below average. Two in are party ordered wraps and said the chicken was very dry. I had the chicken fried chicken. It was average, although the halapeno gravy was good. The service was poor. Our waitress was slow but friendly. The kids were disappointed because our waitress and most of the other staff were not engaging or funny or insulting in any way. We even had to ask to be given the funny paper hats when we got the check! They just took our orders as though we were at a Waffle House. For the price of the food, trouble in getting to the location, and advertised atmosphere our visit was very disappointing."

  • "Since we heard about the restaurant on TV , we were prepared for the experience. It was fun and the food was great."

  • "My food was decent kind of all the small side for the cost. Members of our party said the chicken was the best they ever had. In the long run you are paying for the atmosphere which is the greatest dining experience ever. Our waiter found a way to give us great service while being rude and fun the whole time. The noise level and everything going on like making funny hats effects some of the service but again that is why we are there so i cant count that against them. They seem to be more stingy with the items given like napkins and paper to be used as ammunition as they have in the past but we still had fun. It is fun to have a nice rude banter between your party and the waitstaff."

  • "The whole family went for dinner at Dicks because of the fun atmosphere. I would not take younger kids (under 12) after 7:00. Before 7:00, the crowd was fun and not too rowdy. My daughter asked for balloons and got them tied in her hair! She thought that was the funniest thing ever!"

  • "Would not recommend to anybody, they did not honor my reservation and were not helpful at all."

  • "It's nice to have a restaurant where "almost" anything goes. Too often, waiters and diners act in roles that are false and pretentious. Laughter at ourselves, even in an irreverant manner, can be fun and relaxing. Keep it up, Dick's staff. You are definitely the most obnoxious servers on the Riverwalk. Great job!"

  • "This was the only time my kids were allowed to disrespect an adult and get away with it in the name of fun!!"

  • "I loved my waiter. The sarcasm was great! There was an older couple dining and he was able to tone it down when he spoke to them and kicked it back up when he was around the younger crowd. Will definitely eat here again!"

  • "If you're looking for service with a smile, you're in the wrong spot. They have your typical fried bar foods here, with a little cajun spice added to them. It's a good atmosphere and a fun place to hang out and have a drink with friends. Don't forget to take your souvenir glassware when you leave!"

  • "Fun and energetic. I would not suggest taking kids younger than 14."

  • "Do your research and understand where you're going. If you don't appreciate sarcasm you're not going to like the service in this place."

  • "Food was fair, I wish that the place offered more kid friendly meals such as burgers, for appetizers we order the fried cheese sticks and gator, (not much gator meat but lots of tortilla strips and jalepeno chips) the majority of the table ordered chicken fried chicken the potatoes were cold when we were finally served. My husband ordered the ribeye steak if you call that thin slice of meat that. He was not happy. We enjoyed the atmosphere and listening to the band, our teenage kids didn't really enjoy the place, I think its' more a drinking/party scene than a family atmosphere."
