A word from Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse
“Top Steakhouses in America” Maxim Magazine and Playboy, and featured in the Wall Street Journal, Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse serves straightforward prime steaks with a New Orleans touch. Signature dishes and sides include: The House Filet (served with masa flash-fried Louisiana oysters), Tomato Bleu Cheese Napoleon, Pontalba Potatoes, and a Roasted Sweet Potato with Creole Pecan Butter. The house favorite dessert is a toss up between the Coconut Cake with a chiffon buttercream and the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding—so go ahead and order both.Continued

  • "I was truly impressed by Dickie Brennan's. To start the fresh bread at the table was exellent, My escargot I'm puff pastry was truly amazing. Our steaks were prepared perfectly. My filet mignon was super tender with just touch of melted butter on top. My wife's NY Strip was amazing as well. We culminated the meal with a great version of Bananas Foster Bread pudding. Overall a perfect meal,"

  • "We were looking for a steak place as a specialty restaurant in the French Quarter and the concierge recommended Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse. We had a great experience! The restaurant offered a fantastic food (and great selection), very generous portions at a reasonable price, and great staff. The prime rib and bananas foster bread pudding were wonderful! The only downside was that it was a little noisy, particularly with a trio of singers who went around the tables singing motown tunes. They did a great job, but it overpowered the opportunity for conversation."

  • "The food was incredible. My husband said the best prime rib he had ever had. All the steaks were cooked to perfection. Everything from the appetizers to deserts could not have been better. The wait staff was attentive but never overbearing."

  • "Fine food and service, but this steakhouse could have been in any metropolitan city anywhere in the country. If you're looking for something specifically Southern, go somewhere else."

  • "The atmosphere is beautiful. The steak spectacular. The very best part is the Coconut cake. We never had any dessert as wonderful as this. I wish we could have taken it home to have every night."

  • " This was our 1st experience @ Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse and it was excellent. We were seated promptly upon arrival. The food was outstanding and the service superb. Staff was very attentive and worked very well together. My husband's prime rib was cooked just as he ordered--medium well--tender and juicy. My grilled redfish was great--nice size piece of fish w/ great taste. Portabella Mushrooms are a nice appetizer--not your typical fried mushrooms. You have to have the Banana Foster's Bread Pudding---divine---great twist on a New Orleans classic as was the Steakhouse Pecan Pie. The table side quartet was a wonderful addition to the night. You will not be disappointed. Sorry we haven't dined there sooner. We will definitely return."

  • "Allow me to state that the wait staff was excellent! Rebekah and Alfredo were wonderful hosts. Food was good, nothing special considering the reputation and pricing. The lettuce in the Iberville salad was soggy, very tasty, but a lettuce should retain some "crunch". Shrimp and Grits appetizer was the star of the meal, while the crab cake "special" was okay. Steaks were cooked close to ordered, I believe the chef reversed the temps on our steaks, but nothing to send them back for. Crème Brule' was okay. It appears that the Bourbon Street crowd marches in to dine thinking they're at a Lucky Dog stand. Loud, drunk and obnoxious are not the adjectives I prefer for table guests. Should have been a romantic evening, it left much for improvement."

  • "Love the location in the quarter. Food and service terrific, but with it comes the price. We will be going back to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, or other milestones."

  • "It is remarkable to dine at Dickie Brennan's, because of the tasty food and beverages. But when you walk in and are treated as family, now that is special! Tyler (one of the waiters last time we were there) remembered us! Jerry was delightful and we enjoyed Luke as well. What an incredible experience every single time!"

  • "We arrived an hour before our resv to try and avoid the rain. Sat at the bar, Drinks were very good, bartender lacked personality. Once it got to 730 we returned to the hostess stand where the 0wner had arrived & was greeted by everyone. There were approx 30 people waiting in the lobby area....now 10min past our reserv time & one of the hostesses said they were seating their last 7pm. So I asked her how behind they were..she seemed very offended I asked such a question. The Owner walked outside & came in with a group of 5 & told the girls to seat these people. You could tell they were scrambling to accommodate his request. It really upset others waiting. Food was great but the 30min past our reserv time was unacceptable for a $200 bill."

  • "This was my second visit to Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse. The room has an understated elegance and the food is very good. It took way too long to serve us all through dinner, especially when the room is not even half full! It was twenty minutes before we got our drinks, even though they were only tea and sodas. Then there were long intervals between courses. after we waited thirty minutes for our dessert to be brought, we just asked for the check. They brought our dessert in a bag. We usually tip twenty percent in restaurants, but for the first time we only tipped fifteen percent."

  • "Everything was wonderful. A tad pricey, but expected that going in to the meal. Our only complaint was we made a reservation for 7:30 and didn't get seated till 8. Otherwise, very enjoyable experience. Our waiters were fantastic. Presentation was perfect."

  • "it was our first time there and the first thing we noticed was how beautiful the restaurant was. we had reservations but had to wait for 30 minutes because they were so busy. our servers were great as was the food, and the singing group that came to our table was a great touch. we will definitely be back again"

  • "Greeted at the door with a smile. Seated promptly. Drinks prompt - food takes a while - but it was perfect! Can't rush that! Best of all - they accepted my dining checque without a problem! We love dining here! All around excellent experience!"

  • "We celebrated our 25th anniversary here. We received a complimentary appetizer delivered by the general manager along with desert. During dinner we were serenaded by a trio wishing us well. The staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful in making suggestions of places to go and some good shopping areas. However, the best part of the night was the food which was marvelous. Our server suggested the prime rib and while that is not normally something I get, I went with her suggestion and was really impressed. My wife had the filet and loved it and the swett potatoes ordered as a side were excellent as well. When we are in New Orleans we will go to Dickie Brennan's again!"

  • "Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse is as good as it gets for outstanding service, steak and atmosphere. I do not think it is possible to prepare beef any better than the filet and ribeye we had. Absolutely perfect. The sides of au gratin potatoes and onion rings were second to none as well. Be sure and finish off your wonderful meal with the coconut cake. I will make the trip to New Orleans again just to dine here again."

  • "We had never been to Dickies but were going to be in the neighborhood and decided to try it. We had 3 courses then desert. Nothing was awesome except the coconut cake. My med rare steak was over cooked my husband was undercooked. His ribeye looked like a NY strip with no marbling of fat at all. The asparagus, I swear seemed like it was canned the mash potatoes were glue like... We spent $200 plus$50 tip and just hoped/ expected more. Turle soup was good as were crabclaws.... We will spend our money next time at Ruth's Chris or Besh steak house. It was however infinitely better than their dismal sister restaurant Palace cafe that we visited a few weeks ago."

  • "We really enjoyed the staff here, the food was good but you can get that anywhere. One of our servers, Parker, made the difference, what a personable young man. We had champagne, red wine, turtle soup and both ordered steak, mine MR, my husband MW, they both came MR. This was corrected but shouldn't have happened to begin with. Parker recommended the coconut cake for dessert and it was great. All and all this was a fun experience, life's what you make it :) We will certainly return, the food and service are great, unlike the other Brennan's by Jackson Square where the service is horrible. Visit this one and get the real experience."

  • "We come from New York City and my wife an I would compare Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse to any of the finest steakhouse,s that New York has to offer, and trust me we have been to all of them. Put aside the fact that the food was outstanding. The restaurant was spotless and the service fit for a king. New Orleans has so many great places to eat and so many different dishes to try. They don't have what Dickie Brennan's offers. Dickie Brennan's goes the extra mile and does give you that Fine Dining Experience that you are looking for and expect. If you don't go to Dickie Brennan's while you are in New Orleans, you haven't really experienced the best that New Orleans has to offer."

  • "I'm not from New Orleans so based my decision on the website. Webpage said coats recommended (though not required)so I expected a nice semi formal atmosphere and attitude. Thus, I was caught off guard by the number of guests in shorts and T-shirts--a few even in tank tops--and the entirely casual atmosphere by the restaurant itself. I'm not a stuffy shirt, in fact, I don't work in Corporate America, but I certainly would expect the service and atmosphere to be better than what I'd get at Appleby's or Chilli's!! I also found the '70's bathroom tile floor rather disconcerting, but perhaps that's just me."

  • "My husband and I chose to travel from out of town to dine at Dickey Brennan's for our 10th wedding anniversary. We knew the food and the service would be second to none because it always is. The quality and flavor of the food is excellent even in a setting as competitive as New Orleans. Complimentary to the food is the service. You couldn't ask to be taken any better care of! Oh, and every single person we came in contact with from DB's made sure to tell us Happy Anniversary. Thank you DB staff for making our evening unforgettable for all the right reasons!!"

  • "Ate here a few years ago it was fenominal ordered exact same meal and could not finish it. Prime rib too spiced and tough, guest had duck and was not impressed, only thing good were ogratin potatoes. Service still top notch atmosphere great but for the price of food and quality go elsewhere."

  • "Service was excellent as always but the prime rib was disapointing. When I requested med rare the waiter did tell me that they had med and above only. I received well done....I have never had prime rib well done. It was dry and not very good. The augratin potatoes were excellent."

  • "I was in New Orleans for a meeting and stayed for the weekend to celebrate my birthday. I knew from reputation that the food would be good, but I did not expect the best meal I have ever had. Along with the love of my life the staff at Dickie Brennan's could not have made a more perfect experience. (And they didn't know we were celebrating)"
