  • "Appetizers and service were ok at first. Porterhouse (ordered med rare) was charred on one side and almost raw on the other side. Lobster was rubbery. Ordered coffe and dessert and that was when the service fell apart. Once dessert came, no one checked on us until we flagged someone down after almost 30 minutes. No refresh on coffee or check up on dessert. The bananas foster bread pudding was partly HOT and mostly cold. Bananas weren't Carmelites, just sliced and laid on top of Carmel sauce. Not what I have come to expect from this 'establishment'."

  • "Went there for my husband's b-day. I'm not a steak fan but he is. He said his filet was the best he's ever eaten. I had the duck, which was fantastic. We had the asparagus, duck risotto and scalloped potato as sides. All the sides were excellent, except the duck risotto. It had a some spice in it that made it not edible for me. The service was outstanding."

  • "We found Dickie Brennan's online after reading the many outstanding reviews. It was rather empty when we arrived but filled up quite quickly. Gorgeous atmosphere with white suited waiters and southern blues music which took you back in time and was only fitting while staying in the French Quarter. We shared the delicious onion rings and each got the 8oz prime rib which was perfection. I like my steak rare and this did not disappoint even though it is not my usual cut. The dessert was also delicious, the praline peach tart was lovely but very sweet. The bread banana pudding was amazing and light! Highly recommend to lovers of steak, fine dining and service!"

The grit cake that was served with the BBQ shrimp melts in your mouth. The food is extremely rich - so don't fill up too quickly on appetizers and salads. Fabulous dining experience. The kale salad was unbelievable, the steak was perfectly seasoned/cooked and service was awesome. The lemon pie was better than my grandmother's. The only downside was the bar did not have the ingredients for a Corpse Reviver 2, though they made a good effort to figure it out. Restaurant arranged a trio to sing at the table for our celebration. It was a great way to end the evening. Consider Dickie Brennan's as an alternative to Cajun for one night of your visit to the "Big Easy"."

Pleasant and professional greeting upon arrival. Lovely table and energetic noise & crowd ... restaurant is lovely ... "main" wait staff was slow & forgetful (water & bread service impeccable)... champagne was served warm and prime rib was cold ... forgot my salad ... husband waited to enjoy his salad until mine was served. Travel to NOLA often from out-of-state and will make reservations at Brennan's again ... "

  • "Steak for a change! I had the spinach salad with feta; which was really nice. I had a small filet with shrimp. Hubby had …wait for it ...an extremely reasonable priced full course dinner consisting of two grilled 4oz filets, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, marchands de vin sauce & included soup, & dessert was a delicious chocolate mousse. We had delightful cocktails before dinner. The wait staff, especially Chris, were helpful and friendly. For a steak place the prices were fairly reasonable. There are big chain steakhouses in New Orleans but if you want a New Orleans favorite go here."

  • "There was absolutely nothing wrong about our experience, but our feeling was that Dickie's was resting on it's laurels. Steaks were good, but without the sear that I like and cooked just beyond what I consider med-rare. And frankly, the cuts taste and texture reminded me of a choice cut rather than prime. Not a disaster, but winning me over. The same could be said for the rest of meal with the exception of the dessert crepes which were excellent. One more thing....the high end of the wine list ($300+) had lots of selections and thought. Not so for the lower ranges. I love wine, but generally won't spend more than $150 for a bottle. Ended up going with a southern Rhone which was good...not great. BTW...very good waitstaff!"

  • "I don't usually do reviews but this time I had to speak out. My husband loves Dickie Brennan's so we eat there every time we come to Nola from Atlanta to visit family. He usually makes reservations but I thought I would surprise him this time. You would think they had our names linked so I would get the same great service that he does. No, instead we were stuck in a back room with 10 drunk men who were harassing a young couple when wait staff left the room. The alligator chowder was more like a brown watery soup. Although the soft shell crab was great, the filet was very dry. Don't know if this will be a regular anymore. "

  • "The restaurant and the staff were lovely. We had fantastic servers and sat in a lovely booth. The food was mediocre. The turtle soup was too tangy. The bbq were the best thing we had and they weren't great. The steaks where not good - the filet was extremely over-seasoned and overcooked. The ribeye was the same - too much seasoning, too charred, and over cooked. Medium rare is not a pink center / almost brown center - that is medium well. The prime rib was just not good - the meat was almost mushy and not in good tender way. The sides were overly rich and overly spiced. Creamed spinach should not be cheesy and grilled asparagus should not be so spicy you need to drink water. The coconut cake was not all it was cracked up to be. "
