A word from Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse
“Top Steakhouses in America” Maxim Magazine and Playboy, and featured in the Wall Street Journal, Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse serves straightforward prime steaks with a New Orleans touch. Signature dishes and sides include: The House Filet (served with masa flash-fried Louisiana oysters), Tomato Bleu Cheese Napoleon, Pontalba Potatoes, and a Roasted Sweet Potato with Creole Pecan Butter. The house favorite dessert is a toss up between the Coconut Cake with a chiffon buttercream and the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding—so go ahead and order both.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse lives up to its reputation! Excellent food and service. We found the noise level a bit high due to the exuberance (and alcohol intake) of the table adjacent to ours, but that is just testimony to the enjoyment they experienced. We enjoyed the whole experience."

  • "We enjoyed every minute and every bite of our evening at Dickie Brennan's! Thanks for the special attention!"

  • "The restaurant was great and the food and service was awsome. It was not as romantic as I would have liked for our anniversary but it we enjoyed ourselves. "

  • "1) Servers were extremely friendly and helpful, but it took way too long to get our food. 2) Ordered a $40 steak that was not cooked to liking, and although they offered to take it back in and cook it longer, it took so long to get our food in the first place that we opted to just not eat it. 3) Mashed potatoes had to be instant! And extremely salty (but everything is in NOLA). Best part of evening was the trio of table side singers, who had voices of R&B angels, but were not as smooth when it came to making sure we knew that they sing for tips (they were generously rewarded). In all, this was a traditional "old boys" steak house, so if that is the experience you're looking for, then by all means go!"

  • "Dickie Brennan's is a throw back to the masculine restaurants of the the 80's where great steak was the word and there was an expectation of a large rib eye , crisp fries and a Ceasar salad to be thrown down by a good bottle of vintage wine, At Dickie's, wait staff teams of three make sure that you are tended to at every turn... Anthony, Ashley and Andrea were attentive, cordial and easy with a laugh. Would surely go again."

  • "If the food was as good as the service and the atmosphere, this would have been a 5 star experience. We actually couldn't believe the disparity."

  • "A trip to the French Quarter is never complete without a stop at Dickie Brennans. It is best steakhouse ever. As a vegetarian married to a carnivore, where we eat is sometimes a compromise for one of us. Not so at Dickie Brennans. We have been eating there for years, and the chefs there take great pride in creating a vegetarian masterpiece that hold their own next to a plate of meat!. I actually look forward to seeing what they will come up with each visit. This visit was no exception. The $5 after 5 menu is also a great value in both quality and quantity of food."

  • "I go here every time I am in New Orleans. They are great and they never disappoint. This time was no exception! The food was wonderful as always and the service is world class. We were even treated to singing by an A Capella group; lots of fun."

  • "We really enjoyed the restaurant. It was a little cool, but luckily I had brought a sweater. Wait staff was very nice and accommodating. Steak was great. Great ambiance."

  • "After hearing rave reviews about Dickie Brennan's, we made our reservation for 4 people. Our server had no personality and seemed intent on getting us in and out to turn the table over. My rib eye had no flavor, the duck did not come out crispy at all and the fish was okay. It definitely had the feel of a business person's haven. Large groups and noisy. Sorry I can't recommend this restaurant."

  • "Excellent prime rib, au gratin potatoes, drinks and service in the bar area. Jeremy was my bartender and server. Very professional, wonderful attitude and excellent service."

  • "While staying at Hotel Monteleone, my wife and I decided to cancel a dinner reservation which would require a longer walk and chose to have dinner at Dickie Brennan Steak House which was only a half block a way. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the atmosphere, service and food. Our server was excellent, wine selection was excellent and steak and sides were excellent. We did splurge on our wine and steaks and therefore our bill was somewhat astronomical. So if you are willing to pay up for an excellent dining experience, this is the place and the bill will be up there."

  • "This was my first time to eat at Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse but had visited the other family restaurants, which are all great. That's why we gave this one a try. We definitely were not disappointed. The food was cooked perfectly and the service was outstanding."

  • "We had a reservation and still waited 15 minutes even though there were several empty tables in sight. We were given no menus when we were seated, though we were given a wine list. They kept asking for our wine order even though we still had no menus. I like to pair my wine with my food so finally asked for menus. After we were finally able to order food and some, they messed up a simple request to leave tomatoes and onions off my sister-in-laws salad. There were 3 waiters for our table and very little coordination. The food was excellent. The turtle soup was rich with deep flavors. The steak was prepared perfectly. No complaints at all about food quality."

  • "We've dined at all of Dickie Brennen's restaurants and come here for the best steak in the French Quarter. The service, timing and attention to detail never fails. I have never been disappointed with my steak. I always add the grilled shrimp to my dish and the way they're prepared is excellent. At first, you think they need to be completely peeled, but the chefs leave only the head and tail on for presentation which I love. When you pull the head off, all of it's delicious juices come out on the plate...if that's the intention, then it work!"

  • "If you are looking for cajun specialties - this may not be the best place. However, after a week of dinning, DB's was the BEST food and service in the French Quarter we experienced hands down!"

  • "Our son-in-law saw Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse listed as one of the top ten steakhouses in the country & suggested we try it on our recent trip to New Orleans. So glad we took his suggestion! The restaurant was beautiful & the service impeccable. I had the filet with bernaise sauce & my husband had the prime rib-eye with pepper-cream bourbon sauce, both were perfectly cooked & the flavors were amazing. Without a doubt the best steak I ever ate. Enjoy the seafood in New Orleans, but if you want a change go to Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse ~ I doubt that you will be disappointed."

  • "Fried Oysters - Great! Crab Claws - Tasty! Ribeye - OMG! Goat Cheese Grits - I do not have the words! Service was lovely. Desserts were nice. Wee went back the next night. (NOTE: The Goat Cheese Grits are seasonal...go now before they disappear from the menu.)"

  • "I have to start by saying... I made a mistake on my reservations. They said that the wait would be an hour. 10 minutes later they called me on the phone and said my table was ready! Kudos to the ladies at the front desk. They were very helpful and professional. SERVICE AT THE TABLE Service at our table was not there. We had to ask other servers for drinks etc. I found myself waving our server down just to get the check. THE NOISE! It had the look of a classy restaurant and the noise level of a high school mess hall. I couldn't hear the person next to me. THE FOOD! The fillet was executed pretty well. Scallops were done properly. The mashed potatoes seemed like they had been sitting in a pot all day There are far better choices out there"

  • "I went there for my birthday and everyone made me fee special. The food was absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding. To top it off, the owner of the restaurant came by to wish me Happy Birthday and chatted with us for a few minutes. He made us feel truly welcome."

  • "On our last day in New Orleans my husband and I ate at Dickie Brennan's for lunch. What a pleasure. Wow! The staff are all exceptional. The food was superb. My husband had the Prime Rib-eye with the Turtle soup and I had the Grilled Beef & Shrimp Kabob. They were prepared exactly as we requested and were delicious. We also had the McIlhenny Oysters as an appetizer, they were so amazingly good we had another order! A special thanks to Cory, Adam and Donna for making our last meal so memorable. Their friendliness and exceptional service made us so happy we ate there. It was such a welcome change from Commander's Palace and their rude pretentiousness. Dickie Brennan's was our most enjoyable meal in N'awlins by far!!"

  • "We expected the steak to be great based on other reviews. Unfortunately it was overcooked and not nearly as good as sizzler. Save yourself some money and go elsewhere."

  • "As a local, I really do enjoy eating here. I know some of the reviews are mixed, but with all the choices in the French Quarter to eat, I really do like this place, and eat here about once per month. The food, drinks, and service are high end, and I have gone here in large groups for business as well as by myself, and always have a good time."

  • "I made our reservation a week in advance of my husband's convention in NOLA. We were seated in a nice booth, very romantic. The place is hopping, very old school steak house but lots of young people eating there as well. How many people hate when the waiter is in such a hurry that he talks to you as he's moving? Is it just me? He not only spoke fast, he was to busy to give us the time of day. His "sous" waiters were much nicer! Even the bus boy, Jorge, was super nice and calm."

  • "The food is great, turtle soup is fantastic. Overall there is nothing wrong, but you never get the feeling of being in a special spot. A tad bit impersonal ? I don't want to be too critical, bc they get A for effort."

  • "I ordered the small filet and potatoes au gratin. My steak was perfect! The potatoes were undercooked and very greasy. The staff from the moment we walked in until the moment we left was less than stellar. Not very welcoming or attentive. Midway through our meal, a lady sat down at a table by us and she must have been someone very important to this restaurant. The staff made a big fuss over her, the Chef came out to greet her, and we couldn't get any service from there after. They have a great steak, but we probably won't go back for the snobby service. I would like to point out that Jerry was very polite but unfortunately he was the only one."

  • "The food was fantastic and the service was exceptional. Crab claws were awesome, redfish was terrific, and the filet and oysters was incredible. Praline dessert was yummy too. Bathrooms were clean and team work service was well noticed."

  • "Great food at Dickie Brennan's and great service. Outstanding service, actually, very impressive. Did not give 5 stars for Ambiance as the tables were too close together. We were seated in the back with the other 2-party diners and the person sitting on the bench couldn't even get out of their seat/table without having to move the table completely out. Way too crowded. Dickie Brennan's, you guys could use to lose one of the tables back there. It was also very noisy. You could hear constant stomping from the 2nd floor."

  • "Worse steak I have ever had a steak house and service was extremely slow. I will not recommend. Spoke with friend that had been there 2 days before and he warned me and I should have taken warning. I have better steak at Sizler."
