A word from Dick & Jenny's
One block uptown from the corner of Napoleon and Tchoupitoulas, where century old live oaks shadow the famous music club Tipitina's, sits a mid-nineteenth century barge board cottage with burgundy clap boards and yellow shutters. Dinner plates line the walls and bear the names of Dick and Jenny's founding customers. Originally a grocery store, and later a po-boy shop, this funky New Orleans original is a gathering place for those who seek fine dining cuisine in a casual, comfortable setting. A small hand painted sign on the building hangs above the flower baskets and simply says "Dick & Jenny's."Continued

  • "We made Birthday dinner reservations and get there and they were closed. They called me 2 hours before the reservation to confirm it. Why did they all of a sudden close?? They could have called to say they would be closing for the night."

  • "Due to a thunderstorm the electricity went out. The staff and owners were extremely gracious and did their best. We had finished our appetizers when the electricity went out and that was the end of our meal. The appetizers were delicious and the staff gracious. Will return at another time to complete a meal."

  • "We had our Father's Day Brunch here. We ordered several appetizers and shared: Fried Green Tomatoes, Chicken and Andouille Gumbo, Savory Philly Cheesesteak Cheesecake, and Lox and Bagel Bruchetta. They were all good. I especially liked the salmon which had a very smoky flavor. Entrees were also very good. My dad enjoyed his Grits and Grillades although he did say it reminded him of a commodity they used to get in the 50s. I guess it was a tasty commodity. My wife and I had the special, a flounder over grits in a crystal based sauce. The flounder was perfectly cooked. I thought the sauce was a little heavy handed with the crystal, but my wife thought it was perfect. My mom had the Eggs Boudreaux, poached eggs and crab cakes."

There was a bit of a strange smell, kind of like a damp cave, in the restaurant, but it is, afterall, in a very old building next to a very old river, and it wouldn't keep me from returning for some of that cheesecake!"

  • "This was on my bucket list for many years going to Nola but they didn't take resvtns. hard time rationalizing to commit time in Fest waiting for dinner .Finally went 2 years ago-loved it! This year 1st on my list to schedule. Made my res 2 months ago&yet seated at worst seat-next to a 16 strong bachelor party that drank coffee for 1 1/2 hours--loud--wasting wait staff time. Worse our food took forever--why the big party only drinking coffee? I had ordered the fish and my partner a bowl of soup. How long could that take? Manager all apologetic, but, why all the above? No offer of any thing at all, drink comp or dessert. The worst is I made my reservation far in advance yet I got the worst seat in the house with poor service to boot"
