The Opah and lemon risotto could not have been better. It is often difficult to get Opah on Hawaii, but Devon had it in spades - and they really know how to prepare it perfectly. Having never been to Devon I didn't know what to expect and the choice was made by a local I was meeting for lunch. I arrived first and was given the choice of upstairs or downstairs. It made no differance to me , I thought, but was promptly shown to a prime table upstairs with a view of the park. What made it special was that it was al fresco dining without actually being outside, The windows/doors along the street completely open so that you can be inside with the airconditioning yet have the feeling of being outside.

The service was impeccable, the fish outstanding. Whetehr in the bar, in the vaulted diningroom or outside, great venue. From the biscuits to the daily seafood specials, Devon takes great pride in their menu and deservedly so. We were seated immediately, per our reservation, even on a busy Friday night, and had no wait before being asked about water and drinks. After appetizers (roasted duck flatbread and tuna tartare), we enjoyed the sockeye salmon and opakapaka (pink snapper) with grilled artichokes and yukon gold potatoes. I had a happy hour martini with gin and cucumber that was delicious. The salmon flatbread and mussels were both outstanding, and at $6 each, they were an unbeatable value. We shared a nice piece of halibut that was served grilled, with grilled asparagus and yummy apple slaw that was ideal for my diet. And they split the dish for both of us.

Your crabcakes are delicious. The only issues I has were slow service and atmosphere. My date and I were seated next to a large party. There were three tables put together and it appeared that the tables were squeezed into the aisle. This caused a problem with walking space and the servers were continually squeezing between our table and the party. Additionally, it caused a high volume of traffic at my table so there was NO privacy. All was very well prepared -- the mussels in particular were tender and free of grit-- lovely! Service seemed a little slow at first -- maybe because they were changing shifts. Best of all, we had to meet at 4 pm and Devon was already serving dinner -- which was great. I will be back. My ambience rating is there because it was required. We have yet to be disappointed with a dinner at Devon's. The food was delicious - especially the grilled Atlantic salmon and the crab cakes. My mom was torn between getting the steak or the salmon; I recommend a steak and salmon combination be added to the menu. The vanilla creme brûlée was a delicious ending to the meal. This is my second time here, first time for brunch, and I would definitely make a return trip! Had the salad with fresh grilled salmon. Asked for it med-rare, it arrived well done. It had already taken long enough, so I didn't send it back. Daughter got tuna tartare and loved it and my wife got and enjoyed the swordfish - which was important! We then ordered one slice of carrot cake to split. After a long wait, our waiter came back to tell us they were out of carrot cake and it would be ten minutes before they would have any more. So we decided to pass and asked for our bill - which took more than 10 minutes to get, ironically enough.
