The new Devon, which succeeds the Braxton Seafood Grille which lsot its lease in Oakbrook a year ago, continues the chain's reputation for fresh, quality seafood. The Sunday Brunch is a great deal, with an outstanding array of seafood, hot dishes, and pastries. The omelette bar is terrific and includes a carving station where roast ham and tenderloin are carved to order. Devon's famous biscuits take on new heights with their sausage gravy, and the sushi and oysters give it a touch of high end elegance. The decor is clean and modern and the staff is helpful and friendly.

This was my first visit to Devon. Knowing the prior restaurants that have been in this space, I expected the best. I was not disappointed. The menu was diverse with choices for any taste. Portion sizes were abundant. I had one of the specials: grouper. It was prepared perfectly, flavorful, and plated appealinng to the eye. My friends ordered the seafood mix and lump crabcakes. Both, I can say, were the same as for my dish. Delicious. The restaurant is contemporary, fresh and clean. The wait staff is attentive and professional. Bonus is the complementary valet parking. Definitely will be going back to sample some of the other items on the menu and to enjoy the bar area.

We were frequent diners at Braxtons in Oakbrook and were excited to see the restaurant reopen in town. A little disappointed to see that two of our favorite dishes no longer were on the menu: panko friend shrimp and the lobster tamale. As much as they are trying to reestablish their name in the Oakbrook market, I would have thought leaving the menu the same for awhile would have made most sense. I am hopeful they will do well in their new location, although it isn't the greatest in terms of parking. They do have complimentary valet parking which obviously helps. We miss the old Braxton location, but what can you do.

We have been missing Braxton and were so pleased with our recent visit to Devon Seafood and Steak! The decor is upscale and modern with a lively atmosphere. Comfortable booths and tables and pleasant lighting allow a great experience. We had the rainbow trout and halibut-- both were excellent. Love the familiar yummy biscuits! Great wine selection and timely, friendly service. We will be returning with friends.

One of the most versatile and cosmopolitan menus I have ever run across. There is something for everyone in the menu items drawn from cuisine around the world. The name accurately describes the focus: seafood and steak, so there is a limited choice of other meats. This isn't a drawback for most of us, and the food is delicious and nicely presented. Even the desserts are inventive, such as basil sorbet. We would definitely return to sample the other intriguing choices.

Frankly, Braxton's it is not. It does not have the feel of its former location. The other restaurant felt a little like a ship...a little like a club. It was warm and offered unique booths, had stained glass, brass trim, a large tank.... This restaurant is just another seafood restaurant; I did not feel special like I always did at Braxton's. Perhaps it will evolve.

The food was excellent. My steak was prepared exactly the way I wanted it and it was melt in your mouth perfect. The crabcake that comes with the combo was delicious, more crab meat than breading so you can actually taste the crab. Side dishes are perfect as well. The seafood appetizer we ordered was excellent. Our server was really helpful, all the recommendations he gave us was perfect.

I really love this place. This is the first time I have ever had a bad experience. My guest and I were seated in the bar area. We had a 10 minute wait for our drink order. Then waited 15 more minutes to get an iced tea and glass of wine. Granted it was Saturday at 7:30, but 25 minutes just for 2 drinks. So when our server came back we ordered our appetizer and meal. No problem with the appetizer, but the server got the sides wrong with our dishes. And when the server came by to check on us, it was a "How is everything" as they continued walking. I'm not sure if server was new or just overwhelmed with too many tables. I will go back. I am not giving up yet.

The new restaurant was supposed to be an alternative to the closed Braxton restaurant. We loved Braxton's so I booked my husbands birthday dinner at Devon's. We were very disappointed. The service was ok but the food was only average and very overpriced, given the quantity. I had hoped we would find a Braxton replacement as that was one of our favorite restaurants. Instead, we are crossing this one off our list of restaurants to visit again.

If you liked Braxton Seafood in Oakbrook, Devon Seafood and Steak is Braxton re-born. The menu features a continuing-changing variety of fresh and seasonal fish, prepared over a mesquite fire. The Pacific Sockeye Salmon was fantastic, and served with a choice of sides. The lobster mac and cheese was a staple at Braxtons and remained fantastic. A seasonal Heirloom Tomato with Kalamata/Feta dressing was teriffic. Service is excellent, a wonderful wine list and full bar compliment dinner and house-made desserts, including sorbet and icecream selections top off your meal.

Wait staff was wonderful at describing menu. My husband and wanted slightly steamed oysters and even though it wasn't on the menu, they made them for us. Food was delicious. I like the fact that you can order "clean cooked" fish. It becomes tiring to eat at restaurants that smother good food with sauces. We will be visiting again.

The mesquite grilled trout was some of the best I've had. The waiter was very helpful answering all our questions about sauces, seasonings, etc. He went over the entire menu with us right after we were seated. We were given a baking powder biscuit right after we were seated. I would have preferred it after ordering as it was warm but didn't stay that way. Nice variety on lunch menu with moderate entrees and small sandwiches paired with salad or soup.

My wife and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time for a special birthday celebration. The dining room and kitchen are new and spotless. Food and service were very good. It was very busy for a Wednesday night and the noise level prevented us from having the romantic evening we planned. Would recommend it for the food and ambiance, but not for a quiet dining experience.

Ambiance overall was very pleasing, but noise level was a bit high. There were 3 in our party, and 2 of us had very good, very well prepared meals (one steak entree and one trout entree). The 3rd party was not so lucky, having ordered the scallops which were served undercooked. The manager however was very gracious and had that meal remade, and deducted the whole price for that meal from the check. In addition, they offered the affected party a free dessert, which in my opinion went well above our expectations in terms of a resolution. The staff was very attentive, and you could tell they took pride in the many fresh fish offerings on the menu, with the fish being less than 24 hours from catch to table.

This was my second visit, and the service and ambiance were excellent! I ordered the lobster Cobb salad, and it was good, but there was only 1 medium size piece of lobster meat, and the rest were small morsels. The taste was great, but on the whole it was a disappointment due to size and value. The strawberry shortcake was okay, but the cake was hard, almost stale, not what we expected. I would return, but definitely order something different!

Having just been at Devon the previous Saturday with my husband and we both enjoying it so, I was anxious to show it off to my friend. What a disaster!!! I thought we were in a Peter Sellars Inspector Clouseau movie!!!! The waitress spoiled everything for us. She couldn't get the order straight, spilled my drink all over the table and didn't offer a new one, etc. I could go on, but no one would believe what a fiasco she caused the experience to be. I did say to the manager on our way out that the waitress was a disaster....and she is.
