The host was courteous and genuine, the men who brought our water and biscuits had truly sincere smiles on their faces. Our waiter was exceptional, and completely unpretentious, which was a surprise to me seeing how amazing the food and presentation was. Not only was our waiter attentive and personable, but he called the manager over when he heard that I went to the University of Michigan, and the manager chatted with us. He was also completely unpretentious, but had the utmost level of customer service.
And that was before the food came. My fish was so fresh, and grilled to perfection, and my cocktail was expertly crafted. We ordered from the happy hour menu sort of like a tapas menu. Really enjoyed trying many dishes. In particular the bruschetta, lobster mac n cheese, tuna tartare were excellent. All the dishes were plated beautifully, the service was excellent, the complimentary biscuit is fabulous, and the ambience is wonderful. The front entrance is a bit underwelming and needs sprucing uo, but once you get in the door it is fantastic. I had a very tender filet mignon and perfectly cooked scallops with THE best greenbeans I have ever eaten, my only food critique would be to have a little more cheese in the lobster mac and cheese, I know they must make large quantities of it during the course of the day so it was a bit dry and not as rich as I would have liked it. The wine was reasonably priced and had a great selection and we left there having tried the biscuits, soup, flatbread, steaks, lobster mac and cheese, veggies, and seafood. A nice bar area, a large dining room, and an open kitchen make for a vibrant scene. Seafood appetizers shrimp 'n' grits, lobster rolls, and crab cakes were delicious. The filet mignon could've used more aggressive seasoning and salt. The meat was also overcooked; I requested it medium, and it came well-done. The cauliflower and Brussels sprouts were so-so; I expected bolder flavors, based on the menu descriptions of the ingredients. My dining companion and I agreed the roasted potatoes tasted like Boston Market's garlic-dill potatoes. Creme brulee was a standard but tasty rendition, as was the mint mojito.
