DeuxaveExcellent restaurantGreat imaginative food with very friendly attentive service. Fantastic wine list. We've been there twice and sure to return again.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingThey just should change the name of the restaurant or teach the guests how to pronounce it ;)5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and Service are alwaysFood and Service are always excellent. Very nice menu choices with plenty of wine selections by the glass. We come here often before attending the BSO and it makes for a great night out in Boston. the Lobster Pasta Appetizer, Duck Breast and deserts, were out of this world. Will be back for sure!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a find! The chef andWhat a find! The chef and his wife Victoria were both incredible! Thank you both for a wonderful experience!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDeuxaveWe have been to Deuxave 4 times and have always had a wonderful experience. The food is the best we have ever had. The atmosphere is great and the service is amazing. The manager always takes the time to say a few words and check in on our experience. I highly recommend this restaurant5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulBoth food and service was impeccable. Our waiter was very warm and attentive. The halibut and the duck were uniquely prepared and delicious. Our only complaint was the noise level. Tables were too close together and it was difficult to hear my husband over the noisy person sitting at the table next to me.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, great foodWe were celebrating and selected this restaurant for romantic special occasion. The food was excellent, but it was the service that made this night memorable. Andrew helped us navigate the intimidating wine list... Emeritas was delicious for our dinner selection.
French onion soup, beet salad, lamb chops, steak... all great!
Special celebratory drink served before dessert, and extra fancy presentation of the chocolate souffle were fun too.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb Experience!!My wife and I dined at Deuxave last night. First, let me say our server Andrew was knowledgeable, engaging and there when we needed him. We loved the ambiance of the room! My wife had the beets and chicken. I had the 9 hour french onion soup and the duck breast. The beets were perfectly cooked and had great taste and were matched with a creamy chèvre that was again perfect! The chicken had a texture (special process) that I have never tasted before - moist but firm - excellent! The 9 hour french onion soup was the best I ever had. Deeply rich broth and onions that added a delicate sweetness to each spoonful of broth, cheese and bread. The duck was sliced thin and very tender and the lentils were perfectly cooked.
We will be back!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDuck prepared with flairI found this place by chance on Open Table and had a most memorable meal. I did not realize the chef specialized in the preparation of duck and it was prepared four different ways on the menu. Our family tried the confit, the spiced Long Island duck breast and the foie gras. All were superb. Service was smooth and efficient and the server was very knowledgeable about the menu .5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat except for the waiterDinner at Deuxave was everything we hoped it would be. The food was delicious especially the heirloom beet salad and the halibut entree. The wine list was extensive with a number of good choices at different price ranges. The one thing that made our dinner less than perfect was the waiter. He spent too much time talking about his qualifications as a waiter, and was rather bothersome. Once we made our food choices, he never came back to check in. We would definitely go back again, as long as we can avoid him.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThis continues to be one ofThis continues to be one of our favorite places for dinner.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and ambienceA sophisticated menu, well executed. Service was excellent and tables are well spaced. We very much enjoyed our dinner. Everything was delicious...from the duck confit salad to the scallop, halibut, and pasta entrees, to the desserts.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellence and flexibilityDeuxave's food and service are always excellent. I was particularly grateful this time because two of our group had flown in from Europe and at the last minute made us late and then decided they were too tired for dinner. Deuxave responded to all this with smiles and attentiveness. (We tried to make up some of our lapses in the tip.) Bottom line, I love the place.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here is spectacular,The food here is spectacular, the service top notch and the wine was great. We were visiting and found this gem and plan to return here on our next visit.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic dining experience.Nestled among the stately brownstones along the back bay area of Commonwealth Ave, this quiet, romantic restaurant serves imaginative and delicious appetizers and entrees, and to die for desserts. A hidden gem close, but worlds away from the bustle of Massachusetts Ave.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA Gem in Back BayA group of us go out to dinner twice a year when we go to annual meetings of our professional associations. Since these meetings are not in our home towns we rely on reviews. Was a little nervous about Deuxave - didn't know how to pronounce it and there were some odd comments in some of the reviews. Not to worry! We had an excellent meal with excellent service. Form our greeting at the door through the dessert. I had their version of a margarita in honor of Cinco de Mayo which with the addition of hot pepper was quite tasty. Our salad and main courses were fresh. My friends had the haddock which they said was superb. My crispy chicken was yummy. Dinner ended with a chocolate souffle which was perfect.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDeuxave has class withoutDeuxave has class without the "airs". Very professional staff - attentive but not overbearing. Excellent food & beverages - presentation of meal was not over the top (my preference) - subtle confidence in the entire operation was evident.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb - best meal in BostonWent to several highly rated restaurants in Boston and wasn't satisfied until we went to Deuxave. Fantastic and friendly service from hostesses and server. Food was well presented and flavorful without being overly rich. Would highly recommend!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner was excellent. TheDinner was excellent. The duck was incredible and is a must try! The lamb chimps were a good size but would of liked atleast one more. The weight staff was very attentive and answered all questions. She spent the time to give us tips, very friendly.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMlove this placeI have been the Deuxave a few times now and have had spectacular meals every time. The wait staff are friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list, the restaurant is comfortable and not too noisy, and the food is spectacular. My salad was a little overdressed, but that was the only thing that was less than excellent! I will definitely go back!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMDeuxave...Suave AND ApproachableVisiting Boston, my husband and set aside a night for upscale dining. Wine list...awesome! The heirloom beet starter with walnuts and a soft white cheese was delicious and I usually gravitate away from beets. We devoured the New York strip steak with a variety of mushrooms and wonderful sauces. On to dessert... one of the desserts was the cheese plate to accompany the wine that remained after the last bite of steak. The other was a heavenly combination of candied citrus, homemade banana ice cream, chocolate mousse and crunchy praline bites. The presentation of our selections was deliberate and pleasing to the eye. Absolutely stimulating food in a setting blending modern and rustic elements.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant! My partner and I just love deuxave, great food and wine list and knowledgeable staff. Very sophisticate.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great place...Great food and great place... in the summer they have seats outside4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMHigh Expectations met!Dinner on Monday night, so nice and quiet. Given small flutes of champagne to start- Great beginning! Our waiter was perfect: helpful, available, attentive, but not overbearing. Pace of the meal also perfect. But food was the best part. Crispy duck and onion soup for appetizers were outstanding. Lamb and halibut were beautifully and unusually prepared, and displayed artistically. The flavors were intriguing; we loved the combinations! We were full, but had to order dessert. We were not disappointed: the chocolate banana combination hit every note.
Another nice touch: I ordered a glass of wine and was given a taste before being poured a generous glass.
We will be back. This is one of the best meals we've had in Boston!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was great, friendly,Our server was great, friendly, and knowledgeable.
The person at the front desk could have been a little friendlier.
The appetizers (lobster gnocchi, duck liver pate) were good, although it was slightly strange that they came out so quickly. Made me wonder whether it was just reheated.
The entrees (lamb, spiced duck) were great. Fries were good, but I've had better. A previous reviewer was right in saying that Deuxave is not shy with their salt--not overly salty to be inedible, though.
The free "tiny dessert" at the end was slightly unnecessary. Even though it's free, the presentation was quite miserable (a 1cm^3 brownie and a flattened small disk of a cookie), and if that's what's going to be presented, then maybe save it.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best meals I haveOne of the best meals I have had in the Boston area. From the drinks to the meal to the dessert. Fantastic.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThere's no need for a specialThere's no need for a special occasion to enjoy the food and ambiance of Deuxave. It is the best blend of superb food and neighborhood warmth.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the moment we walkedFrom the moment we walked in we were treated graciously. The waitress was wonderful - friendly and very informative - the wine recommendations were excellent. The meal was exceptional, both in flavor and presentation. I have never had duck before and it was well worth the wait to have had the first taste here. And the crispy chicken was extraordinary. I also definitely recommend leaving a little room for dessert. The only exception to entire experience (and the meal was an amazing experience) is the dark corners and mirrors which to me are very distracting. I have already told friends of my visit and know they and I will make a return visit.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMbusy corner fireplace inbusy corner

service unobstrusive and maitre d delightful4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waitress was outstanding. Our waitress was outstanding. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list and very helpful, especially with one of our picky guests. The food was fabulous - an explosion of flavors. I would very highly recommend this restaurant4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFood, ambiance and great service!I had such a lovely meal at Deux Ave. all the food was beautifully prepared, fresh, and seasonal. Chicken served with 2 plump truffle ravioli, and a tangle of watercress, fiddleheads, pickled spring onions and artichokes was marvelous. Duck pate, lobster with gnocchi ...yum!
There was a nice selection of wines by the glass. And the waitress was very knowledgeable when it came to pairing them with our meal.
We had a table by the window with a nice view of the blooming trees on Comm Ave, and the towering Pru.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMy new favoriteOur party of 5 had a great experience at Deuxave. Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented: spring salad, chicken, scallops, lamb, french fries - all really good. Desserts were pretty amazing too. Service was absolutely perfect. The atmosphere is fun and hip - full of life. Loved it, and will absolutely be back!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply OutstandingWow. I was in a party of three; each of us ordered a cocktail, a first course, an entree, and dessert. None of us ordinarily drink cocktails, but these sounded extraordinary and they were. Tables were arranged with plenty of room and they seemed almost private. Service was simply perfect -- no rush, but very attentive. And the food was outstanding. Each dish deserved to have its picture taken, but after the initial WOW of the appearance, we loved every bite. Every course, tried by each of us, got a rave review. I will definitely return.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional food and service!Deuxave has the best service out of all the restaurants I have been to in Boston.
The bussers were very attentive.
The food was outstanding:
The 9-hour onion soup: excellent
The beef tartare and wagyu carpaccio: excellent
The seared foie gras: excellent
The duck confit: excellent.
Our server was a bit disappointed that we were getting two appetizers per person, instead of an appetizer and an entree, and was unfortunately unable to hide this disappointment, and not have it be reflected in his service. This soured our experience a bit.
However, towards the end of the night, he did come back around, and was very nice.
I am looking forward to going back to Deuxave (and I will order an entree next time! ;))
The ambiance is also re4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous experience! The foodFabulous experience! The food was incredible - artistic presentation but still delicious! Sometimes chefs seem to sacrifice taste for novelty -but not here. Each dish was more wonderful than the one preceding it. The greeters friendly, and our server Karen was knowledgeable and attentive;she knew exactly when to appear and when to let us enjoy our meal in privacy.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMDeuxave is worth the tripDeuxave sits in the heart of back bay on Commonwealth Avenue. The street is busy but the restaurant is an oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Boston. The food is high quality and fit for foodies. The service is crisp and not intrusive. The noise level is close to deafening at times during peak dining hours but if you are seeking a dining experience the ambiance and food will not disappoint.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! Your duck confitAmazing! Your duck confit has inspired me to try to recreate it this coming weekend.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Boston for theWe went to Boston for the weekend and I chose this restaurant for our anniversary dinner based on Tripadvisor revewat as the reviews stated. The Service was exceptional and the food even better. Excellent for a special occassion or a romantic dinner. It is pricey bet well worth every pennie .4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was amazing. OurThe food was amazing. Our service at the table was excellent, but I only gave 4 stars because the bar service was awful. It was not that busy at the bar, but it took quite a while to get a drink. Another group commented on the same thing. The hostess that took our coats when we arrived was less than welcoming, but the hostess we chatted with while we waited for our cab was super friendly.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional NY Strip Steak! Fibrant saturday night setting.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFood & service exceeded myFood & service exceeded my expectations. Clearly one of Boston's best restaurants.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBest restaurant in BostonAbsolutely phenomenal everything. The food was divine, the cocktails were delicious, the service was outstanding. With the ability to be pretentious it's not and the food is actually unbelievable. The only hindrance is price. For two ppl: 2 cocktails, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 1 scoop of ice cream each = $160 (with tip). Must go here at some point while in Boston!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMVery elegant French-styleVery elegant French-style food in a modern, sophisticated atmosphere. The duck was delicious! I would only say that in such a setting, with an expensive menu, I would prefer to have a table cloth rather than a bare wooden table. That said, it is probably more eco-friendly to do without...3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was excellentThe service was excellent as was the food. Our waitress knew what to suggest, very knowledgeable. Took descriptions of our taste and suggest perfect drinks, meal, desert). Would go back.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI have eaten at this restaurantI have eaten at this restaurant many times since it opened. While it was always very good, it seems to me that the food has gotten even better. There have been several changes to the menu, which makes it interesting even for people who have eaten there before. Many of the servers have been there for years and the service was extremely crisp and attentive.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was outstanding - interestingFood was outstanding - interesting menu items all prepared to perfection. Service was fantastic too.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst dine at Deuxave, weFirst dine at Deuxave, we had a wonderful meal and experience. Would definitely go back. Would rate it closer to 4.5 stars but not an option. Great cocktail menu with several creative unique options. Would recommend the truffled salad, lobster gnocchi, and Black Sea bass.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA friend and I dined hereA friend and I dined here as part of a rare hubby- and kid-free evening...the food was amazing, and service was even better - friendly, unpretentious and professional. The courses were perfectly timed as might be expected at a fine dining establishment (i.e., we weren't rushed and weren't looking at our watches, either). It was worth every penny!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA Memorable Dinig ExperienceFirst time at Deuxave. Went early and they honored our request for a table in a quiet area, as we were dining with friends and wanted a place to converse without being overwhelmed by ambient noise. Food presentations were beautiful throughout, waitstaff wewre friendly and very helpful, which made a big difference. One member of our group had a steak,; the meat was a bit disappointing, but all the accouterments were excellent. All other entrees (duck and seafood) were excellent. Wines were well-chosen. Desserts were likewise special. Deuxave is not inexpensive, but overall well worth it.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food and service.Amazing food and service. The only issue and this is so minor but was notable, was the music was incredibly loud. I would, however, absolutely go back and recommend Deuxave to others.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
