Detroit Seafood MarketNot too bad!My mom, sister and I went Mother's Day, so we were expecting it to be a little busy. However the service we receive when we first got there was horrible! When we first walked in there was no one at post so we waited about 10 mins. There were alot of people at the bar so my mom asked them if someone was suppose to come and they said they been waiting to be seated for almost 40mins and another for 30mins. Than my sister went to talk to someone. At first nothing happen but than when I asked to speak to the manger everyone came at once. After that things went smoother. I had the "Fryed Loster" it tasted great but make such you ask for lemons. We choose this resturant because we enjoy seafood. The service was "6 starts" out of 5. Our service was very friendly and accomodating with our requests. I was leery after reading very mixed reviews about the service and the food, but I am glad the opinions of others didn't make us shy away from this gem. First the food was excellent. We had the thai chicken, lobster bisque and crab croquettes appetizers - all outstanding. Tilapia, salmon and Delmonico steak for the main course and again all were outstanding. The chocolate lava cake for dessert was something I will dream about. Our waiter, Anthony, was very friendly and didn't miss a best. If the minimal selection menu for the event was any indication of the full scale menu, I can't wait to come back. Crab croquettes were great appetizers, lanugoustine alfredo was somewhat ordinary but still delicious and the lava cake for dessert was rich and tasty. Also tried the thai chicken appetizer, also very good.
Atmosphere was odd. Kids are welcome, they just seem kinda out of place.
Service was spectacular. Slightly slow but it was the height of dinner time so it was acceptable. The wonderful piano player, the ambiance but most importantly the staff. I enjoyed every moment of sitting in the high back booths and wondering what was going behind the curtains of the private booth.
The food was a wonderful surprise. Appetizers and Entrees you think you know well but when they come to your table the fresh ingredients and the subtle twists on the classics leave you wanting more.
I loved it and my entire group loved it. We can't wait to visit again. The service was surprisingly good in spite of the full house. The food was just super and worth returning for but not of a Friday or Saturday night for sure. The lunch dinning experience was good. I had the freshed mixed green salad with the grilled salmon, goat cheese, dried cherries and Mandarin oranges. The size of the salad was just right for lunch, it was tasty and the salmon was grilled just the way I like it, nice and frim. The bread and butter was good and had a soft drink. The food was great, although the portions were smaller than I would have liked. I did a google search of the best lobster in Detroit, and this restaurant was listed first.
