  • "The waitress was awesome and everyone was very friendly and adorable! The food was good too! I'd definitely go back."

  • "I visited this restaurant a couple years during Detroit Restaurant Week. It was so good that I have wanted to come back ever since. So when we got tickets for a local play, we took the opportunity to visit again. Such a good choice! Had the notable fried lobster tails. Scrumptious!! My husband had the Tuna. Cooked perfectly the way he ordered it. Our waiter was very polite, but a bit timid. The band playing by the bar was very nice. The drinks are actually not too badly priced, but the muscato I ordered was not as good as I've had other places. But I will definately visit again and soon!"

  • "We had a reservation, there were plenty of tables available but we had to wait to be seated. The waiter was nice, but not very attentive. We ordered the lobster mac & cheese and couldn't find any lobster in it. So the waiter said he would take it back and get us another one. The second one came out without any lobster either. The food was okay, but for the price not worth it. The restaurant was dirty the floor was so sticky it was hard to walk. We would not go back there."

  • "I initially had reservations for brunch. However, I received a call the day before and was encouraged to change my reservations to 4:00 pm, the start of dinner. I did and that was a mistake! Arriving a few minutes early, the place was lively and fun. When we were crammed in a booth that needed dusting, the music stopped, and people started rearranging furniture. Seemingly ignored obviously because of furniture duty, we sat crunched and waited. Finally a waiter brought 4 rolls for the 6 of us."

  • "We have been to this restaurant many times. It's one of our favorites. This time we had reservations for 5:30 and arrived at 5:00. We were ready and willing to wait until 5:30 to be seated but to our surprise we were seated immediately in one of the booths along the wall. We were given water and rolls immediately but that's where it ended. We waited until 5:45 thinking possibly the wait staff person for our table didn't start until 5:30. At 5:45 we asked one of the employees who was supposed to wait on us? Finally a waiter appears. His name was Calvin and he took excellent care of us. The food was wonderful (stuffed salmon and ribeye steak). My question is why nobody noticed we had not been waited on?"

  • "I have come here on at least 3 occasions where the service is POOR. The waiters take forever to take your order, and they never come back to the table to check on you or bring the bill. This last time I had to go get the Manager to get the bill. They never are apologetic or offer anything for the inconvenience. As much as I like this place I don't think I will return."

  • "Let me break it down: There was an empty candle jar at the back of the booth which served no purpose, the lights were extremely bright to give a romantic setting, the waiter looked and acted as though he hated his job and couldn't wait to get off work, the steak was well don’t even though we requested medium, I've had much better salmon at Red Lobster even for half the price tag and twice the size, the mashed potatoes has absolutely no flavor and were more like boxed potatoes, the cheesecake was from the frozen food section of the grocery store, and to top it all off 1 margarita was $12+!!!! We love to dine out and they just lost a valuable customer."

  • "The bartendress was friendly, but we were passed by and over many times first. When we were seated at our table, the dishes were dirty- cooked on pasta stuck to the plate. We placed an order for Oysters Rockefeller and drinks with our waiter. Nothing was explained to us. The waitress at the table next to us was wonderful- she was enthusiastic, recommended food and explained all of the specials- just not to us. She noticed me leaning back to hear, so she came and actually did a quick recap for us, and apologized for our waiters mistreatment. The apps arrived- luke warm at best. We decided this was not going to get any better. We cashed out, no apologies or attempt to reconcile our experience. We then had a much better experience elsewhere."

  • "Great food and excellent service. the noise level was too high to hold a dinner conversation. It was so loud I didn't even know there was live music playing until I got up from the table to go to the bathroom and walked by the band. The musicians sounded good it would have been nice to hear them during dinner. Since the food and service were great I would go back."

  • "We had dinner here a few nights go on a trip to Detroit. It did not disappoint! The waiter recommended the lobster mac 'n cheese, and it was truly amazing. My husband got the scallops, and they looked like they were cooked perfectly, and he said they were also very, very good. I got the seafood paella, which was very good, but way too much for one person to eat! I felt so bad leaving a lot behind."

  • "I'm not sure how the quality of the food was better than red lobster. My lobster scampi was extremely lemony and rubbery. Actually red lobster would have been better. Yuck. Will never come back. First and last time."

  • "All you can eat crab legs kept coming hot from the kitchen! My companion had scallops which were as good as any if not the best I have ever had. Rico is an excellent server who keeps on top of his table so you aren't waiting for anything. A real class act in downtown Detroit. Live music raised the noise level but it was good music. You might not want that if you are looking for quiet though."

  • "Out of all the places I had to choose from to make my boyfriends birthday special, I am so happy I chose Detroit Seafood Market. Luckily, his birthday was on a Wednesday and he loves crab legs and Wednesday was ALL YOU CAN EAT CRABLEGS! It worked out amazingly."

  • "2nd time here and both using a groupon to get some lobster. Tiny lobster, super loud from a private party. Private meaning right out amongst everything. This is an overpriced place for urban professionals in a good location. Good drinks, apps and desserts."

  • "This place was so busy and noisy I couldn't hear across the table. I was sat by the bar and had people trying to sit at my table. Drinks came slow because our waiter, who was very friendly, couldn't navigate through the crowd. Food was good but I will not be back because of the annoying loud crowd that had no respect for diners spending $200 on dinner. Also I ordered the sangria, it had more ice than sangria and was over $10. It was tasty but not a good value."

  • "The staff was great! However, the food could have been better that night. My aunts steak was ordered as med-well and it was burnt. My girlfriends peach cobbler was not very tasty at all, lacked sugar and overall taste. My brothers girlfriend said her seafood alfredo was not very tasty. Maybe that was just a bad night for the cook. The lamb chops were awesome though!"

  • "The restaurant was a really nice place for out family outing (5 adults). Over all the service was extremely slow, waiting at every interval. There is no designated server to a table and tables keep getting forgotten or dropped between servers. We had 2 wrong order made, accepted both just to keep it moving. We were there for 1.5 hours and actually had to leave before desert was served because it was so slow and we had to get to a show. Time was so short I had to just pay it in order to make our show on time. 1.5 hours to have a single course dinner is ridiculous. I want this restaurant to do well, and to thrive because we need it in the area but the poor service will probably kill it as patrons get frustrated."

  • "I was looking for a new place in Detroit to dine before going to the theater. Found the DSM on the Open Table site by location. It was a great choice! We were taken to a choice seat and pampered by the staff. They were very attentive and professional. The food was served with a nice presentation and was very tasty!! Good sized, but not oversized. Live jazz band started playing while we were there. It would have been a nice stop for the bar and to listen to the tunes."

  • "I absolutely loved the atmosphere. Live music comfortable romantic seating by candle light and the feel and look of modern downtown Detroit. My blackened salmon was cooked to perfect while the jasmine rice and sauteed fresh vegetables were tender and full of flavor. The artichoke dip and fried flour tortilla were perfectly portioned. My favorite part of the night was the desert presentation my waitress recommended the bread pudding and believe me she knew what she was talking about. Every slice was like heaven. Our waitress made my husband and I definitely feel at home and very welcome as well as the entire staff. I would definitely be recommending this restaurant to all my food loving friends. My husband and I found our new favorite place."

  • "Detroit Seafood Market has a great ambiance. First time there and I would definitely go back. They ran out of the creme brulee but we were satisfied with the chocolate mousse cake. It was Valentine's day and I'm sure they were busy all day long. We waited about 15 - 20 minutes to be seated with a reservation, exactly as the hostess told us. Music was great, a bit loud but still a great ambiance. The place is very cool. Definitely recommend it."

  • "I was disappointed in the quality food. Everything was barely warm or just cold. The catfish had no seasoning and took forever for fresh batch. I have been here for dinner so I was really surprised."

  • "I was there to celebrate my 30th Birthday. We waited 5minutes for our waitress. When my lambchops came it was cold then when they brought it back I needed another fried lobster. Then they brung me another fried lobster but no butter for it. So it took them 10min to get me some butter so they had to get me a new lobster. My lamb chops had more fat than meat and I asked for well done and she gave me medium rare. I spent over 100 dollars on my food and they didn't even offer a birthday dessert when they were only 6 bucks. The waitresses and staff was not groomed. One waitress had a ink pen between her breast asking people what they want to order(very ghetto). I was very upset and dissapointed I could have went to the suburbs."

  • "Took my mom out to dinner for her Birthday. Menu was fantastic, items were priced correctly. Delicious garlic spread and bread. Had 3 different entrees including steak, lobster, fish, chicken and scallops. Everything was amazing. Large parties make the restaurant very loud, but it's better than far too quiet!"

  • "The noise level was far beyond "Energetic" , it was obnoxious due to huge family birthday party taking majority of the restaurant - next time insist they have a private room! Completely unenjoyable experience. Among six diners at our table, noone thought their food was excellent...mediocre at best, others quite terrible. Unremarkable wine list. Server had a good personality and made a real effort, but you can't make up for poor quality coming from the kitchen. With many other restaurant options in the area, we would definitely not return nor recommend to others. Places like this explain why everyone stays in te suburbs for fine dining......"
