    There are 3 bar packages to choose from featuring house brands, call brands and premium brands that include liquor, beer and wine.
    Our steaks are fetured on our seated menus and available for groups at lunch and dinner.
  • Private Party Facilities: Our ulta sleek lounge holds up to 125 for cocktail receptions. There are 8 flat screen TV's throughout the venue along with a spacious dance floor. The large dramatic white bar provides the perfect backround for enjoying a great cocktail or glass of delicous wine. Groups of sleek white leather seating and plenty of white leather barstools offer guests intimate conversational spaces. The dining area in the lounge seats up to 60 guests.

    The picturesque restaurant boasts ceiling to floor windows along St Charles Avenue and Lafayette Square. It's dining room has a fabulous space for semi-private dining from 15 to 30 guests or the entire room will hold 100 guests for a seated dinner and 175 for cocktail receptions.

Desi Vega is the restaurateur of Mr. John's Steakhouse, the 7th ranked steakhouse in America by Zagat. Due to the success of Mr. John's, Desi and his partners began to look for another location to handle the increasing business. The group decided to 'brand" the new restaurant Desi Vega's Steakhouse. Desi grew up in the restaurant business and was groomed by Ella Brennan at Commander's Palace, Ruth Fertel of Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and Emeril Lagasse. His attention to detail and commitment to excellence makes for a truly memorable dining experience. Desi is determined to "do what it takes" to make both Mr. John's and Desi Vega's Steakhouse the new "local" favorite place to go for steaks! Our steaks are carefully selected, hand-cut and aged for tenderness, then seared to perfection at 18oo degrees in our Montague broiler. seasoned with a little salt and pepper, topped with melted butter and served on a sizzling plate; because a steak like this needs nothing else!Continued

Chef welcomed us with a homemade meatball & garlic toast. Meatball was Desi's mom's recipe. It was so delicious. Ordered the sizzling crab cake, brussel sprouts salad and the surf & turf with au gratin potatoes. My husband ordered the twin libster tails & crystal hot sauce onion rings. Everything was so fresh and just incredible!!! Don't miss Desi Vega's... We highly recommend it!"

  • "This is a New Orleans version of a great American steakhouse. The food is outstanding, changes were made to dishes to accommodate preferences, and the steaks are presented on burning hot plates! Top notch steaks and sides with a New Orleans twist (the mac and cheese with lobster and sausage is a winner). Great atmosphere for business dinners or small groups. Outstanding service too. If you are looking for a class joint, this is it."

We had a wait staff as much as a server, the manager visited, unobtrusively, twice and it was, simply enough, the best. White tablecloth but felt like the place next door. Nothing bad to say about it. A little on the loud side, but not enough to be a problem."

  • "What an incredible treat! We booked our reservation on a night that I expected this or any restaurant to be overwhelmed with Mardi Gras revelers. I anticipated long waits, poor service bad food because of the "Mardi Gras rush". To the contrary. My party was met with warm welcoming smiles. The service was attentive and overall outstanding. The filets were melt in your mouth delicious. For sides, I had the turtle soup and the tomato and mozzarella with balsamic vinegarette. My dessert was the peanut butter pie which could have fed my entire party of 4. There was very good value especially during Mardi Gras where most restaurants stretch their personnel thin and herd their customers through. I look forward to returning soon."

The ceilings are high and not treated for acoustics, so it gets loud. Wine list is good; good choices across several cost points. If you are looking for a great meat in New Orleans and have tired of the usual Creole/Cajun fare, this is good choice."

  • "This sister spot to Mr. John's Steakhouse has all the potential in the world to offer top drawer fare in the competitive steak scene here in New Orleans. After one year, it's failed to deliver. The space is wonderful, the decor and seating are comfortable and inviting and the vibe is convivial. Unfortunately, the service is spotty and disappointing at times and the steaks aren't up to par with the stellar offerings down the St. Charles streetcar line. Things have improved since opening night but I expected more progress to have been made in the all important realms of food and service. I used to come here when I couldn't get into Mr. John's, now I will think hard about going elsewhere."

  • "My wife and I dined at Desi Vega's prior to taking in a show at the Saenger Theater. While Desi Vega's really isn't in walking distance to the Theater, it only takes about 5 minutes to drive there. We each had a steak that was outstanding. I had the ribeye and she had the filet mignon. To cut down on calories, you can order it dry; otherwise, it will come out on an oiled plate and sizzling. The sides are all ala carte. My wife had the baked potato and I had the crawfish mac n'cheese. Mine could have been a main course as it was awesome. After a great meal, the dessert (we split the peanut butter pie) was a little bit of a let down. It did not appear to be a restaurant made dessert and was similar in quality to a Chili's dessert."

Most of the party ordered petite filets which were all done to perfection. Don't think there is a better steak in New Orleans. Think it is a bit pricey for lunch however. Meatball appetizer can't be best! Service very good but a bit intrusive."

  • "We had a 1:30 lunch reservation, ordered our drinks and few appetizers to start. We were then told that we needed to get our full order in rigt away because the kitchen closed at 2:00. If your kitchen closes at 2:00, don't have people come in at 1:30. Also, the food was just okay, and my steak sandwich was served on stale chewy French bread. I will not be back."

  • "I took some team members here for a holiday lunch and they absolutely loved the food. One negative - I wasn't thrilled with the greeting I received when I arrived and I am pretty sure that the table that was supposedly "ready" for us when I first asked (five minutes after my reservation time) was suddenly given to a group of men. When I asked if we could sit down, I was suddenly told that "they are setting your table now" - and we then had to wait another 7 or 8 minutes for a new table to be set. Everything else was fine - the service at the table was fine (almost too much attention). Since first impressions are everything, this restaurant needs to work on the front of the house."

The salads and sides (wedge's, au gratin potatoes, creamed spinach) were perfect. Then we hedonistacally ate dessert. The bread pudding had chocolate in it. It was phenomenal."

  • "Rather disappointed. Bartenders need to go back to school. I had the worse margarita ever from there no flavor at all. Appetizers was pretty good. Spinach Salad was horrible. Sides of cream spinach and crawfish Mac was unappealing to the eye and tongue. Main entree of filet and lobster was very good although steak was under cooked from the way ordered. Overall very disappointed. I felt like I wasted 280.00 bucks!!"

  • "Having never been here before, we decided to book an Open Table reservation for 6 and invite 4 friends. They were familiar with the restaurant but were more than wiling to return. We were promptly seated with a view of the Streetcar line that runs in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is located downtown near the Federal Court Buildings and along St. Charles Avenue close to Poydras Street. It is connected to a hotel although they appear to be separate. Appetizers were very good - the fried green tomatoes were delicious. The steak was perfection any my side of asparagus was cooked perfectly. Desserts were ordered by the table and were scrumptious. Would recommend to anyone who likes a good steak."
