A word from Denver Chophouse
You'll find the comfortable, warm-wooded restaurant filled with a crowd as diverse as the menu there for a special occasion or a casual gathering. The nostalgic feel, including the sounds of Big Band 30's and 40's coupled with a current menu with generous portions gives the Denver ChopHouse its approachable, yet upscale contemporary style. Handcrafted ales brewed on-site, small batch bourbons, and a fine array of single malt scotches all add to the ChopHouse tradition.

  • Chophouse; food still good, but value is marginal
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011
    Dined on 11/22/2014
I've been visiting the Denver Chophouse for over 20 years. It was once quite a nice place, but menu and service changes over that period of time have made it a much lesser dining experience. I expect to pay a premium price at a place like this, but I also expect a decent value and awesome service. The servers used to toss a large salad at your table and this was included in the price of the meal. The salad was top shelf and "bottomless" also (very nice). This has since gone away and now the salad is an expensive ala carte item ($17 for a salad...an OK salad, but not a $17 side dish by any means). It was also standard practice for the staff to arrive with a small cast iron skillet of the tastiest cornbread you've ever had (also included). This reminded me of a traditional home-cooking establishment since hot bread brought to your table is very welcoming. I suppose management realized they could generate more revenue by pointing guests to the appetizer menu. Makes sense, but I'd pay for that cornbread...it's just gone. Service was otherwise polite and relatively efficient. The food is still tasty and well prepared, however my 24 oz prime rib was smaller than my guest's 16 oz. NY strip (???). And it's cool that the Chophouse is also a "brewery" since my buddies like to have a pint of brew with their meal, but I've never had a great beer there, and I've never had one with a head on it! (WTF... where's the head?). And if I see 'Munchener' on the beer menu, I expect something pretty dang close to a Bavarian dark lager. It isn't. Simply calling something by a classic style name is like false advertising to me. 'nuf said.... I've always gone for the food, NOT the beer. Ultimately, the Chophouse has evolved into a 'so so' place to dine, and is now just another over-priced steak house.

I had the filet here and it was by far one if the beat aces in Denver that I have found for a great filet. We went here for a family members birthday and it was great that we could actually talk to each other while having dinner. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Service was Good and would have been great but they forgot soup and salad that we ordered as sides for two of our party. Food was good and would have been great except my steak was undercooked ( I asked for medium and it was closer to rare. Also baked potato was kinda undercooked.) Others in our party though loved their meals. Appetizers kinda small for the price. Atmosphere was enjoyable. Overall Great time and Good experience.

Booked my brother's bachelor party for 10 online. I called in and upped the count to 14, and had a surprise extra on the actual day. The staff handled all of this in stride and everything went off without a hitch. For what I thought was a high end restaurant, the service was ridiculously bad. After finishing my first cocktail waiter asked if I wanted another, I replied no but I'd like to see the beer menu. Five minutes later here he comes with another cocktail. There were three of us dining, two of our orders came with the wrong side. I asked for a baked potato, for rice. He brought me a potato in a bowl, uncut. As far as we could tell we were his only table. Disappointing to spend $200 on a meal and receive that kind of service. Have had better service and better food at Texas Roadhouse. Won't be back.

Went here to celebrate winning a couple of medals at GABF and was disappointed in the food and the beer, especially for the price. Had the pilsner to start with and had to send it back due to heavy oxidation. Ended up with the IPL and it was better. Food was about the same. Had the top sirloin and it was a not as tender as I would expect for the price. The asparagus was woody and the carrots undercooked. Server was very good and very attentive. Service was the highlight of the evening by far.

I have been coming to The Denver Chophouse for years and have always enjoyed myself. However, it has obviously gone down hill. I ordered the Prime Rib, which was probably the worst I've EVER had. I ordered a Rib Eye, the restraraunt's most expensive steak at $49, and when it came it looked like a flank steak. It was not a very good cut of meat. You can get much better at the Texas Road House. There were also a couple items missing when the food was served. Upon bringing up the issue with the steak and the missing items the server, Orion, seemed to not care. The service was poor at best.
