A word from Delmonico's
Delmonico's began as the first restaurant in the United States and has had a profound impact on American dining tradition. Our setting is where nearly two centuries of notable poets, affluent socialites, celebrities and presidents have celebrated in the splendor that is Delmonico's. Delmonico's welcomes Executive Chef Bill Oliva our kitchen. While preserving the classic dishes such as Lobster Newburg, Delmonico's Steak and Baked Alaska, Bill brings a level of culinary sophistication to Delmonico's with his addition of creative seafood offerings and other inventive dishes. • "Everyone should go once for a special occasion. A great historical restaurant in a beautiful building."

  • "Great service as usual. However, the main entree from the restaurant week menu for lunch reminded me of mass produced banquet fare. We still had a great time and enjoyed the experience."

  • "Great food- Lobster newberg as appetizer (smaller dish, but to be expected for such a pricey meal normally for $49 for the entree), the filet mignon 8 oz is plenty but there's also the Delmonico's cut which is 20 oz, concluded with the Baked Alaska dessert as part of NYC Restaurant Week. Had a bottle of the Restaurant Week Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon, which was a nice compliment to the steak."

  • "I went there w my co worker for my bday. We had the risotto for apptzr and filet migion for the entree and for dessert the baked alaska and all 3 coarses were delicious. I ate everything on my plate and didn't feel guilty for once. LOL"

  • "We had a wonderful experience at Delmonico's with our friends, the Filet and Delmonico steak were fantastic as was our service and ambiance. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "It saddens me when you visit an established restaurant during restaurant week and you get the feeling that the restaurant pulled a bait and switch on you. That is what my visit to Delmonico's felt like. I have eaten at Delmonico's many times in the past paying full menu price and I can honestly say that the experience then compared to restaurant week is a HUGE difference. My 21 oz Delmonic Steak was mostly fat and I could barely cut through it. So sad. I hope they realize that will lose so much more than they will gain this way. I will not go back again."

  • "I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for 2 years now and when i went ......The Food was very good for restaurant week. Although they seated us in a very unpleasant room they accompanied us when we were late . What i thought was very rude was that they had a large table of employees eating 2 tables from us speaking very loud and were not being considerate to the guest in the room.I go to school for Culinary Arts and what i saw an incomplete service just because we were participating in restaurant week .All together my experience was average but i hope next time i go i will have the great experience that i know they give."

  • "Went with a friend for restaurant week. The salad was good, the filet mignon was not good. In my opinion it was very bland and unseasoned, the dessert that I had a beautiful presentation but the walnut cake was dry, the banana gelato was hard and lacked the consistency of gelato. I probably would not eat here again."

  • "Service was impeccable! Usually you go to these places for the experience or the food. Here, we got both. The service was outstanding and made it all the more enjoyable. I will def be going there again. One of the best restaurant week menus available too."

  • "We went during restaurant week and I am assuming the price fix was closer to a wedding reception style of food. Not particularly fantastic. The filet extremely narrow cut and pretty bland. The Delmonico cut was a much better choice. The same sides were served with both, not terribly creative. Again desserts were reception size (a little skimpy) It's a beautiful restaurant and the history is rich-I wish the food matched the setting."

  • "Delomonico's is still one of the best places for dinner in the financial district - service, food, and wine selections are wonderful!"

  • "We visited for Restaurant Week-decide to treat our summer interns to a wonderful meal. Our only issue was, even though we were seated in a semi-private room, which was very nice of the restaurant to do, employees were constantly walking back and forth, in and out a paneled door that seemed to lead to an upstairs office. That was a bit distracting. However, all and all, wonderful meal and good experience for our awesome team!"

  • "One of the best values for Restaurant Week! Refreshing to get a lunch representing their real signature dishes (filet mignon & baked Alaska) as opposed to a dummy down pasta dish that many restaurants serve during this time to save money!!!"

  • " I work in the financial district and this is one of my favorite’s restaurants I visit it often for lunch dinner or just to have a drink after work the steak house is amazing. Don’t miss it…"

  • "Terrific quality, well prepared. Service was the downfall ... seemed as though our existence bothered our waiter. Not nasty, but curt and humorless. Too bad they keep the staff around just because they've been there for a long time. (The salad was way too small.)"

  • "I would highly recommend the lamb obviously, but the entire meal was excellent. My husband had the restaurant week menu. I had a la carte. Wine is expensive, but the list is expansive..."

  • "I went out for a girls night out during restaurant week. sometimes during restaurant week I would feel like I'm being skimped on the full restaurant's effect. However this was not the case at Delmonico's. I simply was treated like a queen. The food was awesome the service was awesome the ambience is beautiful. it's a perfect place to take a date or a special friend that came over for a weekend in New York City. Want to impress a boss or client. Delmonico!!! it is the place to feel really good."

  • "Delmonico's is one of the oldest restaurants in the country and has a famous reputation having been featured in many works of fiction as the dinning place of numerous literary characters. Certainly, they are best known for the steaks of their creation. Visiting Delmonico's for dinner was long on our "to-do" list when visiting New York City. We must say that the experience did not disappoint. Great food, superb service, a wonderful wine list, and their famous Baked Alaska dessert made for a memorable evening."

  • "My wife had the razor clams and lobster newburg, I had the lobster cocktail and the Delmonico steak. We split the baked Alaska. Igor was our waiter. Fantastic food - best steaks on the planet, my lobster appetizer was outsized - a full size lobster! The lobster newburg had 2 full lobsters, and the baked Alaska was heavenly, unlike anything you've ever had. The service was extraordinary. The ambience just divine. Highly, highly recommended."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary at Delmonico's and absolutely loved the experience. I had the signature Delmonico steak and she had the filet mignon. Both were prepared perfectly and tasted fantastic, the chefs are to be commended. The Wait Staff was pleasant, attentive and very warm. We each enjoyed the ambience and decore of the restaurant. I would highly recommend Delmonico's to anyone."

  • "We have always heard about Delmonico's and read about it in books, so had to go. It was awesome. The restaurant was in a flat iron building. The ambience was great. Very classy restaurant. The service was fantastic. You didn't have to ask for your drink to be refilled or anything else. They just knew what you would need. The food was excellent and you certainly got your money's worth. The porter house steak melted in your mouth. A fantastic, 5-star restaurant to go to in New York."

  • "the restaurant was half empty, staff stading around but had to wait to acually order. Probabelly we didn't look like 21 and that's why no one asked us if we care for wine or even want to see the menue... however the food was very good, what you should expect given the prices..."

  • "Our party of 6 was greeted by a friendly host and sitted promptly. We had visited the WTC that afternoon and felt Delmonicos was a fitting tribute to all that is great with NYC. Our waiter was attentive, polite with some NY humor thrown in. The steaks are excellent and we celebrated two birthdays with the world famous Baked Alaska. Highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "Lamp was great. Lobster was too tough, avoid one. Good service. In a great building. Atmosphere was more casual than I expected. (no dress code when we were there) Our waiter was great but another waiter was alright."

  • "My husband and I frequent steak places and I was disappointed with Delmonico's. We came here for late lunch. The burrata appetizer was ok. The lamb chops tasted gamey. The quality of the filet mignon was not so good and the outside tasted burnt. We drank bubblies to cleanse our palate. Our server was nice, but the $200 bill is too expensive for such a poor quality lunch."

  • "Delicious, fresh, gracious and grand. Although very pricey, Delmonico's will deliver a truly fine dining experience. Gentlemen unobtrusively cater to you in a peaceful, refined yet relaxed, dining room from another era. The food, reminiscent of that era, is clearly updated for a more sophisticated palate. The burratta salad was delicate, the dressing balanced to bring out subtle flavors of roasted peaches, arugula and burratta cheese. The melt in your mouth filet mignon was perfectly seared and simply seasoned with a dash of coarsely ground salt. The carrots, a surprising favorite, were crisp and surrounded by a delightful assortment of vegetables. Be sure to treat yourself to the baked Akaska, a fanciful finish to a dreamlike meal."

  • "Food was as expected. Steak portions humongous. Old time atmosphere with older crowd. Waiters all very stand-offish and not welcoming. The only reason we went was because we got a gift certificate."
