Del Posto is the first Italian restaurant in almost 40 years to be awarded 4 stars from the New York Times. Del Posto is the ultimate expression of what an Italian restaurant should be. We can best be described as an evolution of cuisines, menus, service, and ambiance that have characterized the history of the Italian dining experience in this country. Celebrate Italian viticulture with Del Posto's Wine Director Jeff Porter, on Saturdays from 1pm to 2pm. 5 wines for $5, now through Labor Day. Del Posto respectfully requests that gentlemen refrain from wearing shorts, sandals, sleeveless, and baseball caps. Most men choose to wear jackets, but jackets are not required.

Diner Reviews
  • "We had high expectations dining at Del Posto, and all of our expectations were not only met, but exceeded. The food did not disappoint, and the service was exceptional. Not only did we enjoy eating the food, but the staff, including the wonderful sommelier, provided us with an education that was much appreciated."

  • "Del Posto was a perfect choice to celebrate a 25th anniversary with fellow foodies and wine lovers. Amazing on all counts. We did the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing, which is the best way to go. The wines were presented and the choices explained in context of the food; a truly fabulous way to enjoy a meal. Out of our group of 6, I have several severe food allergies, the chef and wait staff were extremely accomodating. I highly recommend Del Posto for a special occasion or anytime you feel like treating yourself to a wonderful dining experience."

  • "As a person who has dealt with celiac disease for a long time, I was so pleased to enjoy a special dinner with my daughter where I was offered a complete wonderful tasting menu equal to the regular menu that was gluten-free. This is a fantastic place for a nice dinner when anyone in your party must cope with a gluten-free diet."

  • "Loved the creative menu and presentation. The wait staff were very knowledgable and impeccably groomed. The maître de needs a haircut. Beautiful decor. Compares to the French Laundry in Napa, CA"

  • "We were there for my husband's birthday dinner on last weekend and we couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate this special occasion. Our server was amazing. The food was really really good and to top it off the ambiance was excellent. The restaurant was so kind enough to accommodate my request for a corner table and also my special food request. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food and gave us the right information in a very friendly and warm manner. This restaurant is a must if you want your dinning experience to be more than just good food."

  • "Everything was delicious. One of the best meals ever."

  • "We enjoy wine with our dinner and it is part of the experience. However, this turned out to be a problem. The wine list was ridiculously expensive. We are not willing to spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on wine. The wine pourers were not so friendly after we ordered a less expensive wine. Our waiter, Andre, was terrific. The ambience was great. We were greeted warmly when we entered. You have to order one antipasti, 2 pastas for the table, an entree and dessert. Two pastas, plus antipasti, was too much for an appetizer. We were full by the time the entree came. We ate a little of everything, and did not want dessert. They insisted on bringing 3 desserts, plus a box of desserts with different tastes."

  • "Excellent service, great food. An unforgettable and perfect night."

  • "Great service - the bar, thomas, katie all were the best! Food was superb but a little heavy on the seafood taste - squid ink croutons, tuna/pork combo not my favorite. Desserts awesome!!"

  • "Beautiful food, great service. A perfect meal. And an incredible value lunch menu ($39 for 3 courses) - including generous portions of expensive ingredients. Olive oil ice cream with Parmesan cake is a stunning & inventive dessert. Try it!"

  • "We went for the weekday lunch and it did not disappoint."

  • "We love Italian food! Del Posto was on every Italian restaurant list we researched and, it delivered as promised! Beautiful restaurant with added elegance from the piano playing in the background. we had fixed price menus (6 of us) and opted for the chef's 8 course table tasting. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious! Service was fantastic! One of the few NYC restaurants we will definitely return to on future visits! It IS VERY expensive, but if you're looking for a special evening (we were celebrating our son's graduation) it's awesome! Probably would opt for the fixed price menu that allows each diner to choose appetizer, shared pastas, main course and dessert next time. That way you get most of what you want!"

  • "The food was great, we chose the 5 course menu and it was just right. The service was great, and not overwhelming. I will come back next time i go to New York."

  • "Upon entering the posh space I thought the restaurant would possible be to formal for my birthday. However, we were seated immediately upon entering to a wonderful upper table. Service was impeccable, and every member of the staff engaging. I am a Chicago foodie, and I loved every bit of it. FABULOUS"

  • "The vegan tasting menu is just an incredible experience -- the food was outrageously good. Plan on spending several hours lingering over the courses. The staff are knowledgeable and provide just the right amount of service without hovering. They "got" that we were not in a rush and so allowed us to spend 3 1/2 hours in total foodie immersion. If asked to come up with a "negative" I would say there was *too much* food. Even though every dish was small - a tasting, as advertised - the meal was so filling we couldn't finish the chocolate dessert. Horrors!"

  • "Del Posto is a gem. Perfect ambieance, impecible service, excellent food, virtually flawless. They do need to replace the sagging seats in their booths, you sink so deep , the tables are to high to dine on. Fine dining in every sense of the word."

  • "Del Posto knocks it out of the park from beginning to end. Every Employee is on point thru the whole experience. They did everything possible to make it special for my girlfriend's birthday. After 3 experiences there, small private dinning room, large wedding, and normal dinning, the place is amazing."

  • "For $700, we were expecting an incredible meal and experience and we were disappointed. The food was good, but not worth the price tag. The steak tartare was outstanding, but dishes like the eggplant parm tasted like they could have come from our local takeout pizza restaurant. Our waiter ignored us after the first hour. The other service staff was outstanding and did their best to make up for our inattentive waiter. He also poured us two expensive glasses of champagne after we asked to see the drink menu (which he never brought us) and he never told us the price. Jean Georges was the same price and the best meal and service we've ever had -- we will be going back there next time we want to splurge on a special night out."

  • "A phenomenal first visit. My wife and I had the Captains Menu, with her having the gluten free option. We were then able to compare/contrast the execution of each dish, and were both delighted with the results. As expected, the service was delightful."

  • "We drive from Boston to celebrate special occasions at Del Posto. We've never been disappointed. From the warm greeting from the hostess to the fantastic food and service (and the wonderful piano player) we © tinge to be dazzled and delighted by our experience here."

  • "I can't think of one thing negative to say about this experience! Oh yes, they did not have certain premium brands of vodka. But who cares, really? You have to get to their house wines crafted by the Bastianich family as well. Wait, what?? They cook and make wine? Yep. Of course they do! And no quality is lost on any level. The food... mmmmm ! Granted a bit overwhelming with the Five Courses but worth every bite. This is also a great place for a special occasion. I requested a friends special birthday. When I called to confirm, I was offered a quiet romantic table as well. Really a spot on place to go. Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy and luxuriate in truly a decadent and indulgent dining experience."

  • "The service -there are no words for how amazing our service was- I felt the service outshone the food on some courses (which is darn near impossible) - You are treated like royalty - the food was perfectly portioned - paced- presented- all amazing- Sometimes it got loud with what seemed to be a party in the wine cellar- and although there is a dress code- t-shirts and jeans abounded. Service & Food-WOW WOW WOW"

  • "We have been back to Del Posto several times recently and, whether we've eaten at the bar or reserved a table, we've enjoyed the entire experience immensely. Over the years the restaurant has truly come to deserve its Michelin rating. The food is delicious and inventive. The wine list extensive, and everyone on the staff is very warm, friendly and professional. We will be back, definitely."

  • "Everything about dinner at Del Posto was perfect: The initial greeting by the hostess was genuinely friendly; the service was attentive and helpful but not intrusive; the ambience was cosmopolitan in the best sense, and the food was superb. Special kudos go to the sommelier, whose guidance in selecting our wines was invaluable, and to our waiter, whose explanations were spot on."

  • "I have been eating at Del Posto for years and it is always an amazing experience. What I DID NOT CARE FOR is that they put the entire wine list on an IPAD. It is so difficult to review the wines, price etc.. My 83 year old dad who loves looking at the wine list was so disappointed because he could not figure out how to use it and go so frustrated trying to learn. PLEASE go back to the old wine books."

  • "Exquisite food quality and excellent presentation. Staff are very well trained and attentive to every detail. A wonderful memory for a father's day dinner."

  • "One of our party had gluten and dairy sensitivities, but they were to bring her nearly identical alternatives to everything on the menu. Very impressive. The waiter got one of the entrees wrong, but my friend said Ok he'd eat the monkfish anyway, so he did and then the waiter brought him his actual entree! Couldn't figure out the napkin change in the middle of the meal!"

  • "I took the wife here for our anniversary dinner, and it was the first time dining here for either of us. The ambiance, food, and service was outstanding. We chose the 5 course dinner and it was definitely enough food to fill us both. This is definitely a place where you would go for that special occasion. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "food was great, service was great, ambiance was great. cannot go wrong here. the pecorino cake dessert was especially good."

  • "We were there for a special occassion and had heard great reviews. We did the tasting menu that allows you to pick one of each course and for the most part the food was good but nothing exceptional. The main courses were way over-salted (my husband had steak and I had salmon) to the point where they were hard to eat. The rest of the food was good but underwhelming. I think they are trying too hard and the food and wait staff came off a little pretentious. In the end, it was definatly not worth the price tag as I have had far better dinners for less than a 1/4 of the price."
    Dined on 4/27/2014
  • " Pretentious. Not worth it. Too expensive for mediocre quality food. Confused waitress who mumbled and didn’t explain the tasting menu options. Way too many waiters and service staff hovering, needlessly refilling glasses after every sip. Not relaxing. Designed for business diners. There are many better choices in this price range in NYC. Too bad, the room is beautiful."

  • "Best restaurant in Manhattan so far! The food is inspired by italian style but with remarkable creativeness. The ingredients are clearly accurately selected, cooking and presentation is almost perfect. Homestyle bread with butter and lardo di colonnata absolutely outstanding. The service was high level with cordiality and deep explanation of every course. A fix price lunch of that level for only 39 dollars is unbelievable!"

  • "I was visiting New York with three friends. After a marathon of shows, the Tonys and museums, we closed out our visit with what we hoped would be a special and serene dinner out. Every expectation was met and exceeded. This was a dining experience. The service was impeccable and the food was divine. The prix fixe menu offers an 8-course chef's choice or a 5-course meal that allows you to pick some of the dishes individually. It is certainly a destination for a special occasion. The tab is high but it is worth it for 3 1/2 hours of pampering."
