A word from Del Posto
Diners should be aware there is not an a la carte menu for parties of 5 and larger. A 5 course Il Menu Del Posto and an 8 course Captain's menu are available for these parties.

Del Posto respectfully requests that gentlemen refrain from wearing shorts, sandals, sleeveless shirts, and baseball caps. Most men choose to wear jackets, but jackets are not required.


Del Posto is the first Italian restaurant in almost 40 years to be awarded 4 stars from the New York Times. Del Posto is the ultimate expression of what an Italian restaurant should be. We can best be described as an evolution of cuisines, menus, service, and ambiance that have characterized the history of the Italian dining experience in this country. Celebrate Italian viticulture with Del Posto's Wine Director Jeff Porter, on Saturdays from 1pm to 2pm. 5 wines for $5, now through Labor Day.

Can't write a review without mentioning service. They deliver classic service with contempory twist. It is nice to enjoy proper service without being smothered in it."

  • "Very knowledgeable and professional staff. All dishes were thoughtfully executed and perfectly prepared. Portions were a good size. So many special gifts came from the kitchen, most notably the six extra tastes of desserts and the entire whole dessert provided to our table to try, just because the chef had to make something with the in season peaches. So delicious. Loved that a table for two was large enough for four people and was very private (not the normal NYC two top shoved 4 inches from the next couple). They even had stools to put your purse on. Everything was great. Very expensive though, so save this for a special occasion."

  • "Dinner celebration on a thursday evening with family. Had the captains dinner. The restaurant is large, nicely decorated and impressive. Food was excellent, standouts were the Luna Piena and the Oreccheitte with lamb neck ragu with chanterelles, which was mouth-watering delicious. Service was flawless, sommelier was excellent. I would say the meal was overpriced but on a par with other top-notch restaurants in the city."

  • "Everything about our experience at Del Posto was spectacular: each course was magnificent; gluten-free options are amazing; service is knowledgeable and attentive; the spacious room gives you privacy and it's quiet enough to hear your own conversation. Del Posto is very expensive, 5 courses is the minimum (you'll be there for more than 2 hours), and the waiters talk about the food in a way that is so elevated and effusive it can seem pretentious. But if you're a die-hard foodie, or going for a special occasion, this is really the perfect place."

  • "I was amazed at the lack of focused attention by the serving staff and was disappointed at the stick-to-my-teeth spaghetti dish. I had the butterscotch semifreddo and it was one of the best endings I've ever eaten. Paired with the burnt beef are quite an amazing set of parmigiana zeppoli, the texture of the zeppoli is out of this world good. The service at Del Posto was poor with a twist of nervous. They filled water glasses but ignored the need for butter during the bread course. They seemed to be over staffed or something because they were often standing with plates of food, causing everyone to wonder where it was going, yet after eating, it took 15 minutes for my credit card to be seen on the table. I won't return but love Babbo."

  • "why haven't i been here sooner? came in with a group of 4 for on a Saturday night 9 pm reservation. asked to wait at the bar as the table wasn't ready. ordered a round of drinks. 25 minutes went by...still waiting. for a michelin star eatery i found this unacceptable. asked to speak to the maitre d about an update. he apologized and brought us some appetizers on the house, and said our round of drinks were on the house too. Very fair, pleased with the gesture. seated 35 minutes after arrival. Couldn't have been happier with the food, pastas and meats were perfection. service, spot on. but slow drink service. waited 10/15 minutes per round. apologized again, and to our surprise, del posto didn't charge for any drinks on the bill. service=A+!"

  • "Went here for the first time with friends from out of town. The service experience from start to finish was the greatest I've ever encountered. I arrived early, so had a drink at the bar. The Maitre d' recognized that my friends had joined me and left us to enjoy our drinks before sending a server over to escort us to our table. We decided on the tasting menu and asked our server to recommend a wine with our choices. Their list is EXTENSIVE. We did place a max price on the wine which was received without the "attitude" that I have sometimes encountered at other restaurants. Our meal was fantastic; I had their crudo, two pasta choices and the "burnt beef"; my favourite way to enjoy a cut of beef. 2 extra desserts were complimentary. Bravo!"

I work in the arts and don't really have the money to splurge on places as expensive as this, but we are all about once in a lifetime experiences and this was one. I did not want dinner or desserts to end. I'm not even a dessert fan and they were my favorite part of the meal. I believe in spending money on things that are good for the soul, and this left my soul full and complete. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The staff is incredible and extremely knowledgeable. We got seated about forty minutes past our 9:30 reservation which was the only downside. Perhaps to make sure we spent money on cocktails? I would love to go back someday."

  • "I never allow the server to choose my dishes for me (I'm somewhat of a picky eater). That is, until now! Patrick (our server) put me at ease and for the first time ever I trusted the waiter to choose my dishes. We ordered the Captain's Menu and were served tomatoes w/burrata, charred octopus, spinach pasta with bolognese, ravioli with brown butter truffle sauce, a seafood soup/bisque, prime rib dish, a cheese plate (amazing goat cheese), and dessert (which was 2 desserts in one since they give you this dessert box in addition to the dessert!). Although some of the tasting dishes sound simple, each ingredient was elevated beyond compare. We've been to some pretty amazing restaurants - even Michelin Star rated - but none compare to Del Posto!"

  • "When you enter into the restaurant it is like entering into another world. WOW! You are greeted and welcomed with open arms. If you want to get spoiled this is the place. Great bar area. Staff is very knowledgeable. My husband and I had the eight course dinner (small plates) with wine pairing for just my husband. There wasn't one plate we liked more over the other. The staff was incredible and attentive. Their timing impeccable. We were their three hours and at no time did we feel that we were rushed. At those prices there is no need to turn over tables quickly. After we paid the check we were given a parting gift. BTW, ladies get a stool to place their purse on. Very classy!"

There was no rushing anything, so we had time to enjoy each course. The food was the best and because there was 5 we had to do the prix fix. We didn't mind because we all tasted each others. And the deserts were amazing!!!"

  • "When I find a restaurant that blows me away, I always go back a second time just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Del Posto in my opinion is my favorite in New York. I remember Lutece and have eaten at so many great New York restaurants including Le Bernadin which is fabulous. Del Posto for me has managed to trump them all. The restaurant is incredibly beautiful. It is a large but very intimate and romantic. It will impress your significant other or business associate. Staggering wine list. The service is outstanding; the staff friendly and warm. The food - well I would go just for the lardo and their bread. Explore the menu as I have and you will have a culinary experience you will never forget. The desserts will finish you off. Go!"
