Had to remind the server of my drink order, and this was an after work dinner to stress down after a long, long day. Not a good start. The menu is fairly limited, and I got a double cheeseburger, but a warning: Medium Well is actually Well Done so ask for extra sauce to help with the crunchy, dry meat patties. The Butter Pickles are awesome though. The location cannot be beat however, so I can at least say that was enjoyable. There are however, several restaurants along the same stretch, so take your time deciding where to eat.

Went on a Tuesday for dinner with friends from out of town. We were seated promptly and were greeted promptly by our server. Food was great, I had the chicken Schnitzel and my wife had the stroganoff. The only black mark that made me leave off the final star was that when two of our party asked for coffee it arrived at nearly room temperature. They fixed it immediately however.

We came in thinking it would be a nice place to have a conversation and enjoy some good food. We came in, sat down and got up to leave. Way to loud. Bar is too close to the dinning area. Reminded me of a cheesecake factory trying to be upscale.

Come as an appetizer so we shared but nxt time I will get one on my own...they are crazy delicious and not your regular tacos from your local mexican restaurant. What a treat! Secondly, the kale and brussel sprout salad, even without adding chicken was not only delicious but we felt very healthy eating it knowing how good the greens are for us. The server was lovely and most attentive. As a matter of fact there was always someone around to fill our water glasses, take empty dishes (licked clean because of how good everything was) and be pleasant...Customer service is still alive and well in some places of our world!

The Grille is a gem! Went there with my fella before a Cirque du Soleil show at the Pier. We mentioned to our server that we were going, and he was on it! We ordered everything up front, and it came out in perfect timing! Everything was delicious - the Truffled Deviled Eggs were a surprising delight. Also really enjoyed the kale and brussels sprouts dish, as well! For the entree we had the Sole and it was fantastic. Perfectly prepared - full of flavor but still very delicate. It was wonderful! They have a good selection of wines - many of my CA favorites. That night i have a lovely Pinot Noir from Sonoma that paired well with the meal. Overall a wonderful experience and we will be going back soon!

We had an "ok" dining experience at this restaurant. There wasn't anything that really wowed us. The waiter also pushed a rather expensive bottle of wine ($95) on us, saying it was a special of the evening and normally costs double the price. The wine was fine, but not as amazing as the waiter made it out to be. We ordered a second bottle of wine for $50 that was just as good, if not, better.

Dinner was truly excellent and it's location right across from the Santa Monica pier made this the perfect restaurant for a Pre Cirque du Soleil meal. We had reservations at 5:45pm and were seated immediately. We ordered appetizers, entrées and had dessert & coffee and were out in plenty of time to get across the street and to the tent. We would recommend the Knife & Fork Ceasar Salad, The Filet Mignon and the Brown Paper fish were also very flavorful. Don't leave without trying the Nutella Bread Pudding.

We were greeted by the manager, Dave, who took special care of our party throughout the night and was kind enough to keep the kitchen open after our very late arrival after a special event. Our waitress, Catherine, was very helpful and recommended several off-menu items. The steaks were the best we've had and the sides were decadent and incredible. Cocktails were spot-on. We've already made plans to return.

Enjoyed Del Frisco's twice while staying in Santa Monica this past weekend. Our first experience was during lunch and it was fabulous. The food is amazing - LOVE LOVE LOVE the steak salad. During our lunch visit, our service was great and we were well tended to. Since our first experience was so wonderful we decided to head back to Del Frisco's for dinner on our last night. The service was TERRIBLE! We waited 15 minutes to even get drinks delivered. It was obvious that the tables around us (all ordering alcohol) were well taken care of. I watched as a manager asked the tables around us if everything was "good" and he completely ignored us. I would still recommend because their food is EXCELLENT.

We had great Service and very lively atmosphere. Most of our dishes were good, just a few holes. We ordered about 10 food items between four of us. Not enough dressing on the mixed greens. One steak we ordered med well, only because our server said that their medium well was pink in the center. unfortunately it came out overcooked, super, super well done. Wine pours were inconsistent. We had three glasses of wine all came at different levels. I loved the shared appetizer of the peppers, but they could use some salt. Artichokes were amazing as well as burger, flatbread and creamed kale. We will be back.

    Dined on 2/15/2014
First I was thinking the wait was long due to people enjoying the patio and hanging out after they ate. But we waited over an hour from our reservation time. Thats we were able to look at other reviews of the place. It seem to be an ongoing thing, making the guest wait and wait for a table. I would take these steps to fix the issue. 1st I would space out the reservations. 2nd I would close up open table availability for the night. Like I said I had time To kill. so, I opened up open table and it was showing that they were still taking reservations??? Many unhappy waiting guest. I watch some guest yell at the hostess. I didn't yell- I just won't be coming back! sorry! BTW this is my 1st bad review ever.

We made a reservation through open table and were actually surprised by how many time slots were available. However, when we arrived, the restaurant was packed, and obviously overbooked. We were told it would be about 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, we were told it would be 30-40 minutes more. We were finally seated, and the service was attentive. This place is packed to the brim making it difficult to even get to our table. It is so loud that everyone is yelling and you can't hear the person sitting across from you. If you don't mind that vibe then this restaurant may be for you. The food was good, and the location is great near the pier and the promenade. We wouldn't go back due to the crowded seating and the noise level.

Had a 8 PM reservation on Saturday evening for party of five. Arrived thirty minutes early before the reservation. Sat at patio seating area to get some drinks for our party. Waiter by the name Joel came over, informed him that we had an 8:00 reservation inside the restaurant and we would like something to drink. He responded "you need to get up, this is not the bar area - if you want something to drink, go inside". He was so obnoxious and rude. Informed Joel that the last time I was there, we were allowed to seat in the patio area and ordered drinks and also informed him that he was the waiter that served us the drink the last time. Address the issue with a female manager, which I don't think she did anything about it. Bad experience!!!

  • Too many high end suggestions

    Dined on 2/15/2014
Everything was great here, except one thing: I was on a date, and when we started, the waitress began suggesting bottles of wine in the $100 range. I declined, which was fine. But what I didn't like was that she kept making suggestions at the high end of the menu, and for additional items. While I know waiters/waitresses want to increase the size of the bill in order to increase the size of their tip, it felt uncomfortable to keep being suggested in this way while on a date. I didn't like that, and I imagine most people on a date wouldn't either. It's like having one of those ladies selling flowers that keep coming to your table to get you to buy your date a rose. It's just not comfortable, and I was paying a good amount to be comfortable.

I have been to Del Frisco's in NYC a few times, so the quality of the food was to be expected. However, what set this experience apart was the sommelier (Adam). He went out of his way to make sure my family was having a good experience. For example, my daughter ordered an apple juice but the restaurant did not have any apple juice. Adam went to a local store and purchased a bottle of apple juice. Now this isn't a huge deal, and not something we ever would have expected, but it set the tone for the meal. I could go on and on about the little things Adam and the rest of the staff did to make us feel special, so I will just sum it up by saying that Del Frisco's is where we will eat whenever we are in Santa Monica.

It's another good example of the vibrant social/food scene that is Santa Monica. We loved the fact that it is located across from the pier. My steak was very, very good, and while the schnitzel was also good, the noodles were overly buttered. Wonderful kale salad. I do think $14 for a martini is too much. Nevertheless, I will go back.
