Diner Reviews
  • "Overall I had a good time but was definitely overdressed. I did not expect people to be in shorts and t-shirts. The noise level was a little louder than I hoped since I was there to have a romantic evening with my partner. The filet was super tender and the mac-n-cheese was awesome. I would definitely come back for the food but just expect to not have a super quite romantic ambience,"

  • "We had an acceptable meal at De Frisco's. The ahi tacos were good, as was the Caesar salad. The lamb burger was fine but nothing special. The veal meatloaf had a pasty texture and tasted more of breadcrumbs than veal. I should have known that "skinny" in the name of a cocktail meant that the dominant flavor was artificial sweetener. Service was slow, despite the fact the cavernous restaurant was barely 1/4 full. The location is good for downtown theaters, but this is not a destination place for food."

  • "We decided to bring our two teenage daughters to dinner on Saturday night. What a mess! After waiting 10 minutes just to have a server greet us, we then waited 25 minutes to get our drinks. Dinner came on time, but the sides were forgotten. We've all been at restaurants where the servers are heavilly "in the weeds," and generally all that we would have liked was a simple, "I'm so sorry...we're a bit slammed tonight...we're truly doing our best to take care of you." We heard nothing of the sort. Bad form Del Frisco's! With so many quality dining options in DC these days, that type of service will bury a steakhouse. Bummer."

  • "The place was packed and the sound level was high. Difficult to hear folks across the table. Four of us had the steakhouse salad. This salad was always perfect (in several earlier visits), but only one of our party had bacon (why not others?). When the person next to me asked about the bacon, the waiter took her plate and brought it back with bacon. He should have asked about the other salads. One was undercooked and one had neither bacon nor avocado."

  • "We were so lucky to find gem of a restaurant on open table. Our trip to look at the cherry blossoms was made even better by a great meal, fantastic server and very special ambience. The food was very much worth the price, presented beautifully and everything was delicious. Great location – short walk from the mall, and even shorter walk to the central train station to head home."

  • "I overlooked the negative reviews I read and focused on the good ones online at Open Table. My experience was mixed. The food was good, altho my "double patty" hamburger was less than thrilling. Why two patties when one would have been just fine. A little gimmick? Price was ok except for appetizers. Flatbread pizza for $13 was way overpriced, as was cheese steak egg roll. Tasty, just way too pricey. Small but annoying when all drinks but beer are 9+, emphasis on +.l"

  • "Wonderful food, wonderful waiter, wonderful drinks... awful hostesses. They were more than 30 minutes late to seat us for a 7:15 reservation and definitely sat first a party of the same size who had walked in. The hostesses kept directing people waiting for past-due reservations to the already over-crowded bar and didn't seem too concerned about anything except keeping people away from their station. They offered no updates to us and, if anything, seemed to be avoiding eye contact with customers. Magically, once I posted up by their station, they finally seated us. Once we were seated, the experience warranted five stars, but it was a pretty disappointing opening to an evening we'd been looking forward to."

  • "Good food. attentive wait staff and we were able to watch the basketball game without sacrificing food quality."

  • "5 minutes with no greet. Waiter approaches and takes water order and recommends the table order a few glasses of “white wine” to start – an odd recommendation considering that we just sat down, the wine was introduced merely as “glass of white wine”. The waiter returned a few minutes later to present a bottle of red to a guest at the table who had not ordered – did however remember to let the person who ordered it at least taste. Apps never cleared, entrees arrived and table is still covered with empty plates, silverware not refreshed between courses, poured our own wine and water, no check backs throughout, no clearing, no dessert offer. Check dropped immediately after without question to dessert or if we wanted anything else. Not good!"

  • "I had the Tuna Salad and it was not good. It appeared thrown together (not in a good way, like maybe it was dropped) yet tasted pre-made (like the day before), greens seemed old and tuna looked like something you got off the Sysco truck, not like it was freshly cut. Service was great, ambience was great, but the food was sub-par. Please beleive me when I say I do not usually complain but since I am from Texas and am familiar with the brand, I was expecting better."

  • "We chose this restaurant because we were going to the theater so we went early. Service was very prompt and good. The food was also good and the dishes not too heavy. Would recommend this site to others."

  • "Other than my spinach being a little too salty, the overall food, location and evening were outstanding. Great wine selection, including by the glass, 1/2 bottle and carafe at reasonable prices, and GREAT food at affordable prices. One other knock, the valet parking was understaffed so slow when arriving/leaving."

  • "Initial impression is positive but then everything goes down in quality of food and service. Appetizers are nice but a flat bread was brought to the table after 20 minutes and it was cold! Wine was brought half way through the meal and a $50 cut of filet mignon was returned twice and finally they burned it completely and they did not butterfly it as requested. Individual items on the menu seem to be ok but overall quality of service and food was dismal. Would not recommend the place at all. The management should go one block down to Central to learn about food and service."

  • "I'm always a little worried about chains, but this one is great. We had children and the staff were great with them. No kids menu, but it's plenty loud enough for tgem. Great wine list with several good values. Have only been to the one in Washington dc, but I'll try others if I see them in other cities."

  • "We waited more than 40 mins for apps and then the appetizers were barely at the table before the entrees came out. Not sure if it was a kitchen or server issue but it make for a weird experience."

  • "Great food. Service this time was questionable since it took about 10 minutes to get a waiter on a slow Thursday night. Usually have no problems with service. Was also disappointed with the fact I mentioned we were celebrating a birthday that night and we received no acknowledgment whatsoever. I'll definitely be back, maybe just not for a birthday."

  • "I've been to almost every top restaurant in DC, but Del Frisco's Grille officially beat their competition based on their food, service, and the entire dining experience. There was not a single misstep or weakness anywhere. We were lucky to sit by the chef's area, where we could watch them cook. It was late, & when our meal was done the chef came out to introduce himself and also to ask us about the food, any suggestions, etc. Even the manager came to our table. It made us feel like every person there wanted us to have a great experience & we did. The steaks were cooked perfectly, the ingredients in every side dish was balanced to perfection, and the chocolate molten cake was heaven. Great wine list, too! We will be back every visit to DC!"

  • "Our dinner was great, server was really great. The only drawback was the menu was different in person than on the open table site, I'm vegan so sometimes I rely on a menu choice being there."

  • "This is my second time there. Both times the service was extremely slow. They weren't busy at the time, Therefore, it was unacceptable. The waitress this time, havd Very little knowledge about drinks and food and was unable to make suggestions. I have no plans to go back."

  • "The only negative about this restaurant is the noise level at the bar before 8 pm. Otherwise, I like the food, location and service. The flatbreads are all good, and the cheesesteak egg rolls are a favorite. I have been there at least 12-15 times for dinner and I still like it. I recommend it to all of my friends."

  • "DELICIOUS!! Loved that it was high quality food without the need to dress to the nines! Glad we canceled our reservation elsewhere to dine at Del Friscos. Will definitely go again if/when back in DC!"

  • "While situated in the heart of DC's tourist destination area, this is still a good place to have dinner without some of the pretense that surrounds other restaurants in the area. We enjoyed cocktails and appetizers most notably the steak stuffed spring rolls, and the pimento fritters. The caesar salad was limp, but passable. We both had the smoked pork chops on top of a grits with cheese. Very tasty. Our servers were prompt and courteous. The entire place was energetic and the wait staff along with other staff members were exceptionally pleasant and helpful."

  • "Fabulous service, great ambiance and very good food. However, it's pretty expensive: lunch for 3 (tap water, one shared app and no dessert) was $82 with tip."

  • "We really like this place, and it is always busy and fun. The food is good, and the service is too."

  • "The food was fair at best. The Shi tuna salad had only a few precious bits of tuna, so that one could understand belatedly why the server kept encouraging us to add salmon at an extra cost. The veggie burger had no flavor and lacked crispness. The cheese burger was just OK. All this food and a bottle of sparkling water came to nearly $80. Even more unacceptable was that we had to wait more than half an hour for our food. The server kept telling us that the "manager" would bring our food shortly, but we saw no manager. Considering alternatives in the neighborhood, I will not return to this restaurant and discourage others from it as well."

  • "I am not new to Del Frisco's. I work right across the street, so I've been there for lunch more than a few times and for dinner with my husband. While I was pleased with the food, I was NOT happy with the dirty silverware. Both my knife and the spoon given me for my tomato bisque were dirty, and I had to request new ones. That is not something that you want to wait on when you are already in a hurry to eat lunch and get back to work."

  • "Went there with two friends before heading to the theatre. Waited about 10 minutes for a server and I finally got up to track one down. There were only a few other tables seated so it wasn't as if they were busy. Server forgot to bring one of the appetizers, our waters, and glass of wine. t."

  • "Have been to and love NYC Del Friscos. The DC experience was as good if not better. Fantastic steaks, great service and the entire staff was great with us even though we had the only two kids (8 and 10) in the place. Highly recommend them and can't wait to go back."

  • "I have been to the Midtown Double Eagle and was impressed but everything at the Grill in DC was up to their same high standards. Totally impressed by the management and service. The manager was a trainee from Boston area and a true professional. She is going to manage a location in the Boston area and was certainly impressed by the talent management from Del Frisco. Of course the meals were outstanding (ribeye, ny, sole and pork chop), wine selection was great and beverages were perfectly poured. A must return and a favorite of mine!"
