I also visited the downtown New York City location in 2011 which was really cool. This was my first experience with the "Del Frisco's Grille" concept and I wasn't disappointed. Same great steak, same great service, just a little more casual atmosphere. As always, the service and the atmosphere was awesome. However, the food is very hit or miss. Last week I had the steak salad for lunch and it was incredible. Yesterday I ordered it again, and it was very so-so. This isn't the first time this has happend since the restaurant opened. Here's the deal...if you want to own a steak restaurant in Atlanta, you have to get it right every time. The shrimp and grits were delish except for the amount of gravy/sauce they put all over it, I would recommend ordering it with the sauce on the side. The sauce overwhelmed the taste of the grits and shrimp.
The burger was fabulous, the only criticism was the bun it was served on. I'm not sure what kind of bun it was but it was tasteless and had a bad texture. I took it off the bun and ate it with a knife and fork. Don't get me wrong, it was a great burger, just didn't care for the bun.

Well, the steak was great (tied with Kevin Rathbun's) for best in Atlanta and the tuna was terrific. Even with a somewhat limited menu, there are still great choices to be had. As we've read many times, the coconut cream pie is huge (and incredibly good. Just one note: sit upstairs if you want any chance to be able to talk to and hear your dining partner (the downstairs bar noise is deafening). Having worked in the restaurant business for many years, I am a harsh critic. I made our reservations on OpenTable, as it is practically impossible to get a table in Buckhead between the hours of 6-9 without one.
We arrived early for our 7:15 reservation to grab a drink at the bar. There are plenty of signature cocktails, beer, liquor, etc. We chose a Blue Moon and some other IPA that my husband enjoyed.
