Side dishes such as sautéed spinach and mushrooms were excellent. The wait staff is also outstanding...they go the extra mile by serving portions of the side dishes to everyone seated at the table. The food is excellent, and the service is impeccable. Finally, the signature lemon cake for dessert is the best thing you will ever taste--even if you have never liked lemon cake! And one slice will treat four people! Del Frisco's cares about its customers. I have gotten several thank you cards from my waiters in the mail following a visit and even anniversary and birthday cards. Wife had lobster, daughter had crab cakes, I had this steak trio--3 small fillets each prepared with a different sauce. Truly wonderful food. As is our custom, had to end with that 7-layer lemon cake, taking over half home with me.
We only make it here once a month or so, since we moved to Spring and the drive--after wine--is a bit much. But we'll come back, that's for sure. They had off the menu selections for kids. The waiter was very friendly and did a good job at engaging the adults and the kids.
Our table was downstairs and I didn't really care for the location. It's very open, so there was not much privacy. (My mom liked that table and the view.) My food was really good. I had the steak "trio" - a 12 oz., center cut with three different toppings and it was delicious. My main complaint is that our food took a REALLY long time to come, I'm talking 40 minutes! It's good that we were not in a hurry. Also, soft drinks are $4 each. It seems like the filets were overly salty, the Bearnaise & crab topped filet was decent, the sweetness of the crab meat offset some of the saltiness, but the peppercorn was only edible with lots of water, the last one with wine reduction glaze had a strange flavor. Maybe you had to have an acquired taste for it, the filet itself, was again too salty, & the glaze was too sweet. Our steaks were cooked to mouth watering perfection. Our waitress was a delight and service couldn't have been better. However, our appetizer could have. The shrimp cocktail we ordered was 6 cocktail sauce covered jumbo shrimp lying on plate lined with a big wilted lettuce leaf. It was really, really sad. If I'm going to pay $18 for an appetizer it had better dazzle me with either its taste, its presentation or both. Shrimp cocktail is just shrimp and cocktail sauce. It's really hard to turn that into a memorable flavor experience so the only alternative is to make the presentation unforgettable. We ordered a filet steak special and the Seafood platter for 2 to split. The Seafood platter was $77 and supposively enough to feed 2. When it showed up to the table, it didn't even have one whole King Crab leg. The platter was a big pile of ice with 6 small oysters and 6 jumbo shrimp. I had no problem paying 2 bills for dinner, but felt ripped off on the seafood. It barely fed one person. We were not disappointed.
The crab cake appetizer was sooo good. Made from pure crab meat, not overdosed with bread crumbs. The featured fish entree of blackened sword fish was terrific! Not heavy on the "blackened" but just right. The 8 oz. filet was heavenly. The only suggestion about the food would be to go easy on the oil in the potato skillet side...just a wee bit too greasy.
The service was impeccable. We were fortunate to have 2 waiters (they were working together b/c of a large group) and they never missed a beat. Always polite, attentive and
