Diner Reviews
  • "This is our second time at the Chicago Del Frisco's location. While our food was generally better than the previous visit, it was still lacking. My wife had scallops, a couple of which were still raw in the middle (not rare, raw). My $50+ rib-eye, while well-cooked, just lacked flavor. It had almost no seasoning and the beef itself wasn't anything special. We have been to many steakhouses throughout Chicago and the country and just don't think Del Frisco's in Chicago lives up to the expectations of a high-end steakhouse. On a positive note, the environment is warm and welcoming, and the service is about as good as you can get. That somewhat helps justify the prices, but let's face it, the primary reason to dine out is the food."

  • "Always good. However, this time the oysters were mushy and small. Everything else-porterhouse and asparagus were great."

  • "A great night was had by all, great looking room with a three story wine vault. Very professional wine & food service. Our party had a mix of steak, lamb and fish all were perfectly cook."

  • "In a city of outstanding steak houses, Del Frisco's is fine, but not among the top. Best part of the meal was the crab cake. Their Summer Special Prix Fixe was a good value. I doubt I will return."

  • "This is not your "stuffy pretentious" steakhouse. The food is unique and tasty with a bit of flair on traditional steak house sides. Made my family and two daughters (who enjoy great restaurants) feel welcome."

  • "In.a city dominated by steakhouses, this one shines for the impressive entry and decor, an outstanding wine list and presentation, but always the food. Steaks wonderfully prepared on piping hot plates, great sides and appetisers (spicy calamari is to die for), and exceptional service - never rushed and always accommodating. An overall great experience."

  • "The food is well cooked. The atmosphere is casual and the service is professional."

  • "Great atmosphere-big attractive space without being cold. Staff friendly. Extensive wine list which seemed well priced. Started well with calamari, generous portion nice flavor. All 4 of us ordered the prix fixe for $49. The wedge salad lacked flavor and freshness, honestly one at Outback is superior. All 4 of us had the 8-0z filet and all thought the meat lacked flavor and did not seem like prime. Potatoes were peppery, while spinach and mushrooms were tasty. Finished strong with two excellent deserts-soufle and banana bread pudding-which was outstanding. At the end of the day, however, a Chicago steakhouse it is all about the meat and in that regard Del Frisco was disappointing."

  • "I liked they gave my mother a bday card upon arrival. My steak along with my husbands was not prepared as we requested. My mother ordered scallops for her side dish and got shrimp instead. Staff very nice but one of the staff member's seemed to be clueless. Food was excellent."

  • "Traveling alone to Chicago for a conference, I choose to try out Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House. I'm so pleased I did. The food was wonderful but the service was exceptional. The filet trio melted in your mouth. The calamari had just enought zing to make me want to eat just the appetizer. My server was helpful and attentive all night. I would highly recommend this place."

  • "This restaurant is on the top of the list for great ambience and customer service...those crab cakes, filet, lobster Mac, chateau potatoes, and salmon are the greatest!!!!"

  • "The food is good, but the service is terrible. I had to wait about a half hour to be seated, even though I had a reservation. Not good."

  • "This is one of Chicago's Best and Fantastic restaurants. I have dined at the New York location, but have found that this location has a lovelier ambience. same Great Food and Service, we just liked the set up more here in Chicago."

  • "Do this is a steak place right? If there is anything they can do right it should be steak... Well, 5 of the 6 of us ordered steak - 2 NY strips, 2 ribeyes, and 1 filet. All were ordered medium or medium well. ALL were overdone... and not by a little bit either. I was the only one that returned mine - was the filet. Sorry, but if your filet is overdone, not only is it not tender, it's flavorless too - less fat than the ribeyes or strips. When they brought me a new filet and had me cut it in half, it was seared in either side and RAW in the middle. Looked like tuna tataki. We sat outside and that was great. Other than that, Capital Grille or Gibsons would have been better. Mgr came to apologize, but we paid for every lousy steak."

  • "Great ambiance, good food, ok service. Still a notch below Morton's, Capital Grille, etc. due to the service level. Don't get me wrong, the service was not bad. It just wasn't spectacular service like you get at the affore mentioned places. Our waiter seemed to be in a rush all night, and did not take his time with us. He also went long periods without checking in. He was nice, but for the money, should have been much better."

  • "I would think that a "Double Eagle" Steakhouse would be able to nail the proper doneness of a steak every time. Seven steaks were ordered, three prepared well beyond desired level resulting in two being remade, one accepted just because did not want to wait. About 20 minutes later the re made steaks came out."

  • "Food was excellent. Table was wobbly. Had to adjust my chair due to the staff bumping into our table constantly. I was pinned to the wall after the chair adjustment. My only concern. Other than that what an impressive place! Love the wall paper near the washrooms. Love they kept the old Esquire theater sign. I will def. be dining there again. Wasn't my first time and surly wont be my last."

  • "This was our first visit and our waitress ignored us but could flirt with the table of four men behind us. My friends steak was obviously overcooked since she asked for rare and it came medium but since we never saw our waitress she ate her steak. For a first visit I was not impressed."

  • "Food was disgusting. Steaks had too much pepper and overlooked. Lamb had a horrible tasted as if they did not soak in vinegar to remove musk like taste. Waitress informed us of some off the menu options, but did not tell us the cost. Therefore we paid $34 for lobster mashed potatoes ( FYI ... Not worth $34) a side dish. Also, customer service was horrible. Server never checked on us to see if we were enjoying out meal and manger never came to the table to check if our recoiled steaks were prepared correctly the second time ( they were not. Requested a med steak and received a well done steak). For this to be a steakhouse and extremely expensive, they failed miserably. They get a F and I would never eat or recommend this place to anyone."

  • "The food was all very good. I had eaten at Chicago Cut two days earlier and thought the Del Frisco's steak was better. It had better flavor. The service was absolutely perfect. That being said, the meal is very expensive - but you get what you pay for."

  • "To be a good steakhouse in Chicago you really have to be exceptional. This place is exceptional. From the decor to the food and service everything is fantastic. It is not light on the wallet but then what would you expect?"

  • "This may be our new favorite restaurant. My wife and I dinned here for our 8th anniversary and couldn't stop eating. Everything is great about this restaurant - food, service, atmosphere, drinks....The calamari is a must. Highly recommend. You honestly cant go wrong with anything on this menu."

  • "The sides were average at best the the steaks were over seasoned. The service was good but there are better places for steak and sides in Chicago than Del Frisco's Chicago."

  • "I love Del Frisco's, a few friends brought me here to celebrate my 40th birthday. The atomsophere was great, it wasn't to noisy the seating was comfortable and spacious. I will definitely be back and soon my fiance 45th birthday is coming up and this will be a great place to dine for the occasion. The staff was on point with every little detail. The food portion was perfect, I ate until I was stuffed and still took food home. The EAGLE HAS LANDED!!! I hope they are here to stay."

  • "I enjoyed dining here for dinner with a party of four. The seating was a amazing, the view was lovely and the staff was incredibly hospitable. We enjoyed a variety of dishes the pan seared chicken breast was very good the prime pair with steak and scallops was excellent it came with salad and a side dish. I choose the house salad and mashed potatoes. I was very pleased with my meal and experience at this steakhouse. We also ordered 16oz lobster to go. The drinks were spectacular and our server Barron paid close attention to detail and made this dinner a very memorable birthday celebration. Thank you for providing excellence the whole evening through we appreciate places like yours, see you soon."

  • "This was my 2nd large family dinner at Del Frisco's... My big negative was having an oversized appetizer platter foisted on me at the outset of our menu selection which turned out to be hugely expensive ~$400. The platter was delectable, but it was presented as an economy and turned out to be otherwise. I felt exploited. Of the 10 people in my family, several entre's were cancelled and the tab was still $1850. Food, wine and "other" service was outstanding... I will go back, but not with a trusting attitude. Suggestion to patron: Beware and don't allow yourself to be duped or oversold. Head waiter was either an opportunist or a fool, but my family enjoyed the dinner."
