WE picked this restaurant to celebrate my daughter's 19th birthday...The online menu seemed to have a lot more variety than the the one we were handed at the restaurant. The decor is nice and the 2 waitresses were friendly. WE were able to find items on the menu of each of our likings... Squash/pumpkin soup was delicious but lukewarm because, from the time I heard the bell from the kitchen stating that the order was up to when our server brought the soups there was at least 5-10 minutes and she forgot to bring us spoons so I had to get up from my chair go to the kitchen and ask for spoons, so by the time I got the spoons and start eating the soup it was lukewarm... WE enjoyed the piano player who mostly played 80's and Broadway tunes...

You know you're getting something special when you can't discern how they go about putting together the dish that sits in front you. This is the case with many of Dekalb's plates. The lamb, this time taken from the neck, was awesome. So too the Trout. The pork & duck was already sold out. On first reading, the menu appears a little odd, with a combinations of ingredients that you wouldn't think would be complimentary. That's quickly dispeled both in plate appeal & the first mouthful. The young chef is truly living his dream & it shows. Formerly BYO tho now stocking a quality range of of wines & spirits, superb casual ambience & engaging people orientated staff, Dekalb offers standout value & an adventurous & rewarding culinary experience.

  • Made reservation but not even open!

I made a reservation to eat lunch but they weren't even open. After calling 3x someone finally answered and apologized. I just find it hard to believe that with accessible internet and technology, you weren't aware or just couldn't update your open table account. Besides this I couldn't really speak of the food or service so disregard star rating, I had to put something in in order to submit.

Great new restaurant in Bed Stuy! Fresh, delicious food. BYOB. Portions are small but prices are very reasonable. Bring a bottle of wine, order a few appetizers (the braised brussel sprouts are delicious!) and enjoy this noteworthy newcomer.

Amazing food, gorgeously rustic space with a welcoming atmosphere and attentive and friendly service. The food was beautiful. Quality seasonal ingredients star in a healthy and innovative menu that follows through in execution. Everything we tasted (most of the menu, because the prices allow or it!) was expertly prepared to showcase the ingredients with thoughtful additions and garnishes that added delightful bursts of flavor and texture to create a truly nuanced dish.
