DefloppéIntimate dining experienceVery quiet for a Friday nite. Only four tables of diners. There was no handicap access - one of the group was on crutches so it was a bit of a challenge. Before ordering we asked if there were any specials. There were none and additionally, there were several menu items that were no longer available. The crab and avacado salad was really good and the Defloppe salad was equally good. Both were attractively presented. The flounder was on the bone - not filleted. The lamb lollipops were a hit. Hope this place catches on - it could be a nice neighborhood BYO.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed the food butThe food was very good, but the plates looked very empty. The fish was an adequate size, however the side dishes were extremely small. There were three small dollops of mashed potatoes and two small slices of peppers. One of our friends ordered double veggies instead do the potatoes and got four slices of peppers. My husband was still hungry after the dinner.
There homemade bread was like eating white bread. This definitely needs improvement.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed the food. ServiceEnjoyed the food. Service was attentive. Would definitely return.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is my fourth time diningThis is my fourth time dining at Defloppe, and each time is a wonderful meal. We have brought different friends with us each time and they have loved their meals and the experience as well. I highly recommend dining at Defloppe. You won't be disappointed.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe presentation of each dishThe presentation of each dish we ordered was so nice and the food was excellent.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen I walked in there wasWhen I walked in there was nice music being played. The owner was warm and welcoming as was all the staff. The decor was clean and simple with a touch of bling and fun. Our server was very pleasant and answered all our questions about the food and portion sizes and anything else we wanted to know. The entire staff was engaged and seemed to really care about every aspect of service. The food, did I mention the food? Every bite was delicious. My guests and I all really enjoyed this BYOB and we will be back.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWow, this new restaurant isWow, this new restaurant is one of those rare places that will for sure raise the culinary image of the whole neighbouring area.
A must: tuna tartar, liver pate canapes for appetizer and lamb lollipops (make sure you order the chefs suggested temperature) - those were the ones I tried and will come for more.
Plan to share - the portions are really large!
BTW, not sure why it marked as $$$$ - the prices is quite reasonable and to me it's $$$ at the most! Plus, it's BYOB which makes it even more affordable.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGlad I found this new BYOBGlad I found this new BYOB in HV!
Our friendly server Margo was extremely knowledgeable about the restaurant and menu. The imaginative food was wonderfully prepared and artistically presented. Dessert (we shared the pumpkin cakes) was, unexpectedly, delightful.
I'll be back with friends.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA gem in Bryn AthynThis was our first time and it was memorable. The food was great and the service wonderful. The pastries made fresh in house everyday just topped off a wonderful evening.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden GemDefinitely a hidden gem! The food was wonderful and beautifully presented. Some of the highlights were tuna tartar served with caviar and quail egg, chilean sea bass that melted in your mouth, skirt steak that was seasoned perfectly and for dessert, napoleons that were decadent, along with some of the best coffee I've ever had. Our waitress was extremely personable and knew the menu inside out. One of the top servers I've ever had. Loved the atmosphere. Very chic. I will be visiting Defloppé again!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for large groups!Went to Defloppe with a large group to celebrate some business milestones. Everyone agreed that the food was truly special. The steak I had rivaled anything I ever tried in any of the finest steak houses, but had its own tasty signature that I will not soon forget. Even the bread was unique and exceptionally delicious. The service was what you would expect to find in the finest city restaurant. It is a gem. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough and I intend to hold my business lunches here in the future.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGood for a business meetingWe were a party of five very early on a Tuesday night for a business meeting. It was nearly empty, which was good for our purposes. Food was very good, but surprisingly slow considering how few customers were there. I had a crab and avocado salad, which was tasty but had too much mayonnaise in it and was too large for an appetizer. Another of us had the tuna tartare, which was beautifully prepared, and he said it was delicious. Entrees included the lamb lollipops, which were outstanding and cooked to order. I had the bouillabaise which had an assertively orange flavor which I liked, but others may not. There was plenty of seafood in it, including one very sweet and succulent prawn. Overall, a good experience.3/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThis newest BYOB in HuntingdonThis newest BYOB in Huntingdon Valley is a great addition. The menu is extensive and the food is very good.
