We typically go to a larger and much louder restaurant for special occasions but this was a God send! I cannot say enough about the quality of the food , especially the soup. Thankfully, we were not in a hurry as we watched our server scurry about, trying to get his guests on their way. Our server did apologize for his lack of attention and delay in our appetizers coming out...after our salad course. Our entrees, scallops and salmon were delicious and presented artistically. On this occassion, we had tickets for a concert at the Hotel Dupont so we made early reservations in order to be done in time for the performance. Our server, Dustin, fast-tracked our orders - not rushed service, but smooth, professional approach since the restaurant was full of pre- theatre diners. We followed his recommendations and had a delicious meal- even had time for dessert. Our server (Stephanie) was outstanding and made us feel comfortable right from the beginning. The staff was very friendly, well prepared for us, and knowledgeable about the new menu, the drink offerings, etc.. Their wine list, though not confusingly extensive, was still notable; and we trusted the staff to suggest a bottle which would go well with 4 separate meals. In the end, the food was fantastic (the carpaccio and the caramelized onion tart were two of my favorite appetizers), the wine perfectly matched, and the overall mood was spectacular. Some of the tables are kind of close so we made conversation with the table next to us. They were really pleased with the food also. I did the 3 course $35 menu and probably should have ordered from the main menu. The food was delicious but I had the crab cakes entree and received 2 small (1.5" diameter) crab cakes. It felt like an appetizer portion. I have eaten at Deep Blue in the past and the food is always excelent, I just felt the value wasn't there in their Restaurant Week portions.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe highlight was the appetizer-The highlight was the appetizer- muscles in a curry sauce with cilantro- i had to clean the plate! the crab cakes were fine, but not outstanding. We also had a lovely wine that was on their wine by the glass selection.
