Diner Reviews
  • "The folks at Decca seems to pride themselves in original fare that is locally sourced. They create unique and very tasty dishes. Only criticism is the menu is a bit limited. That said, the things they offer are fresh and well done. The only curious thing is the beer is not locally sourced. No local beers are available, which seemed a bit odd. Our service was outstanding. Everyone we encountered was not only very nice, but had a great sense of humor."

  • "Decca is superb. On nice days the outdoor patio ie excellent, the food and drinks are exciting, and for after-hours the downstairs lounge is a real gem."

  • "Really enjoyable meal for the 4 of us and exceptional service."

  • "The reviews intrigued me. They were right. The bar is very unique and inviting. The cocktails featured unique liquor and mixers. The menu is a foodie heaven: originality, very artistic, and delicious. The ambience and service were fantastic. Being a wine lover, I really appreciated the proper wine glasses to enjoy our pinot noir. My only complaint is that I felt the wine prices were a little steep and the mark up higher than other places. I would suggest a wider array of price points on the wine menu for the varietals offered. The outside courtyard and fire pit were a wonderful place to finish our wine and relax after dinner. I totally forgot to look at the art on the 2nd floor. Next time! This is a true gem!!!"

  • "We went there for a special occasion and were very well taken care of. Our server knew details about every dish on the menu as well as wines, drink selections. We went on a night of a major sporting event so it was rather quiet, which we enjoyed but we're looking forward to a return trip soon. The food was excellent and well worth the price."

  • "I was looking for a hip, young scene that was specific to Louisville. Decca was the place! Amazing food and a good crowd. They had a band playing in the basement with a bar and couches all around. The upstairs dining area was energetic and loud with close-quarters seating, but it is the type of atmosphere you look for with moderate, city dining!"

  • "This is the third time that I have eaten at Decca and I have been to their Bar more times than I can count. The food was wonderful and a refreshing. Our waiter was funny and provided great service, and the atmosphere was perfect."

  • "Out of the many dishes we had at dinner this week, there was not a misstep in execution. Each plate was expertly composed, well-balanced (texturally and flavorfully) and DELICOUS! Knockouts for me were the steak tartare and the cavatelli with braised beef cheeks. Hands down one of the best meals I've had in Louisville and I can't wait to come back. Great job, Chef!"

  • "Decca is a beautiful establishment, with warm and knowledgable staff. The live music really nice, but not too loud to interrupt conversations with friends. The food was very tasty, however you must be aware that when you bring hungry men who are looking for a healthy steak, they can very easily be disappointed with portion size. The steak my friend ordered seemed to be about 3-4 ounces, and was smothered with what seemed like an equal amount of blue cheese. However, everyone else was happy with their dishes-though they were all on the small side. Just be prepared to order multiple courses... Other than the steak, we had the mussels for an appetizer, and entrees of pork, sea bass, and a lamb special. Not sure how soon we will return.."

  • "While the food and service were great the noise level made this experience not enjoyable."

  • "8:10 pm on a Sat. night. We sat down and it took awhile for anyone to get our drink order after we asked to have just a minute more. Then no drinks for along time and no one came to discuss the menu or if we had any questions. 20 minutes went by and we saw our waiter taking care of all his tables but ours. We finally got a manager to come over and told her what we were experiencing. She assigned another waiter and who was very attentive The food was really good. It was so loud however, everyone was almost at a scream to communicate. We will not go back just because of the noise regardless of the 1st waiter."

  • "My wife made reservations at decca a week in advance. It was a pleasant surprises they called us the day before to confirm the reservation and to answer any questions. We arrived 30 minutes earlier and enjoyed some time at the speak easy bar downstairs. Overall great atmosphere and food we will be back in the future. It is great to see high quality food in Louisville and locally owned and operated!! If you are new or been in Louisville for awhile this place is a must visit."

  • "This was our first time to try this restaurant. I have heard so many great things and I love the chefs approach. The kale and fruit salad was delicious but the Cavatelli was not wonderful. A little bland for me. The Desert was much the same way. I tasted a hint of lavender in my ice cream sandwich and it just wasnt memorable. It was nearly $400 for four of us to eat and we left disappointed. I love to support local restaurants and the service was fantastic on the up side."

  • "Food was good but portions were small and price was a bit high. I didn't feel that it was a very intimate setting and found the overall look and feel of the restaurant to be a bit bland."

  • "Fantastic food, excellent service, and warm atmosphere. A bill for 2 on Valentine's day (with the Valentine's day special) came to about $212 before tips, which is a lot, but I thought it was definitely worth it. I would certainly go back again."

  • "Three of us were looking for a restaurant we had not tried yet. After looking at a few options for a Monday evening we decided on this restaurant. We were quickly greeted as we came in the door and seated right away. Cory took wonderful care of us and made some great recommendations! We shared an appetizer of Pan Roasted Mussels with Saffron Aioli and they were very good! My husband had the Wood Grilled New York Steak and said it was perfectly cooked to a medium rare and was very good. We shared the Golden Delicious Apple Cobbler with Malted Milk Ice Cream to top off a great meal. We look forward to returning to Decca!"

  • "We shared everything, starting with a refreshing Bibb lettuce salad with homemade vinaigrette. Our second course - my personal favorite and something I would come back for, itself - was the black pasta with sea urchin and Meyer lemon. The flavors were so perfectly integrated. We moved on to the steak with celery root puree and sour cherries. The temperatures there are a little under, FYI, but that wasn't a problem for us (I ordered it medium, it came medium rare). The quality of the beef was undeniably good, and the seasoning was right on. We finished with the seasonal cheese plate - the presentation of which was really lovely. Cocktails are rad and the wine list is approachable. I especially liked the Sling cocktail. Awesome night"

  • "Great find as we were out of town. I had the white fish which was obvious frozen and a bummer. My daughter had the steak which was outstanding. Not a big menu, but tough to make a decision on as all offerings are appealing. Staff was great, lighting perfect. Will definitely return when in town."

  • "At first, 7:00 pm, for my birthday dining, there were just a few couples, very romantic, 4 large beautiful decorative doors, beautifully restored old building, then a 20 person group came up from the downstairs bar, and really livened up the front dining room! This was our 3rd dining at Decca, first in the cellar bar for a Victor Marure fund raiser, then second floor, this time first floor, all great dining. This time I gave the manager two antique Decca 78 records. He was delighted and later gave us a decorated jar of their pistachio popcorn! Upstairs is a museum of old music. Overall very pleasant and highly recommended. GH"

  • "Not so great. Lighting and ambience was great; busy but not overly so. Food choices were ok, but nothing spectacular. I had the shrimp as an entree which was actually barely ok. Six medium sized grilled shrimp with the vein still left in - nothing like a mouthful of grit - served with lime, peanut chili sauce over a plate of polenta. The polenta was a bit over done and had the consistacy of thickened mayonnaise -- for 25 bucks, I have seriously had a bevy of way better entrees. The squash soup, however was amazing. The cheese plate we had was ok. . . One of the members at our table had a side of broccoli -- it was pretty, but awful. All in all, fail."

  • "the wait staff was perfectly sync'd into the menu and table delivery was appropriately spaced. We took our server's recommendations for every part of the meal-from drinks to dessert-and loved it. We will be back again soon. Although next time we might bring friends and spend more time before and after the meal itself so that we can enjoy the downstairs lounge as well."

  • "It had the elegance I was looking for to celebrate New Years Eve. But the surprise was the bar's amazing drinks. Of course you expect great wine and maybe champagne, but the Bourbon infused drinks were awesome. I recommend the Old Fashion & Marker's Mark Manhattan. So of course the evening was elegant and classy. But, it allowed us a taste of sassy Bourbon cocktails, even though we were dressed in a tux & evening gown. There is an amazing covered deck upstairs that will be a must do for summer and fall months."

  • "This, our first visit to Decca, has pleased us immensely and will certainly be repeated. My wife and I ordered a variety of items, each one exquisitely prepared and presented. None of the menu choices were pedestrian standards, all were unique and made tasty use of unusual ingredients and combinations. Our service was attentive and silver was properly provided, appropriate for our food selections, and refreshed between courses. We dined on the main 1st floor, later visiting the basement bar. This resembles a cozy cave with musicians and poetry recitals amidst cozy couches and drinks. Decca provided a full and satisfying experience."

  • "This is a fantastic restaurant. My girlfriend and I went out to celebrate a special occasion, and this place lived up to the hype. We had a drinks from the very eclectic drink menu, a pair of appetizers, a pair of entrees, and a couple of desserts with coffee. The drinks were fantastic and the food was just perfect. A neat gastro-pub with a cheerful staff and a neat, romantic vibe. We didn't get to sit outdoors because it was too cold, but the outdoor seating area looks amazing."
