Diner Reviews
  • "There were only 4 choices for entrees with meat or fish. 1 Steak, 1 chicken, 2 seafood. Need to add one to 2 more steak options and 1 to two more chicken options"

  • "We travel quite a bit and love it when we find a place with great food and great music. We always say "I wish we had something like this in Louisville". Well, we don't have to say that anymore. We DO have that in Louisville - at Decca. We had fabulous food/service and then headed downstairs for music and great drinks in a cozy but vibrant bar. They are advertising Jazz Monday's and we cannot wait to head back for more. The food would be enough to get us back but the music is the icing on the cake."

  • "Our first visit. My date and I were able to score a table on the upstairs patio overlooking the beautiful down stairs patio/garden. Our server was attentive without being around too much and made great selections for drinks/good. I wish I would've grabbed a dessert, especially considering how tasty our appetizers and entrees were. We well definitely be back and will make it a point to spend time checking out the downstairs lounge."

  • "Fresh ingredients and very flavorful. Wine list a little pricy, nothing by the bottle under $40. Would recommend."

  • "We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant with terrific cocktails and found our way after dinner to the downstairs jazz bar. Decca has a complete package for a great date night: great food, drinks, and entertainment. The only negative would be it took our food a really long time to be served but it was very good when we finally received it."

  • "The salads were excellent but significantly overpriced relative to comparable upscale restaurants. The creative preparation and ingredients in the two entrees we had were exceptional; however, both the pork chop and steak were tough. The chop was 40 percent bone and fat. The duck pate' was the high point of the dinner--an amazing amalgamation of flavors. The staff was first-rate--friendly and attentive. If they improve the cuts of meat this will become a preferred restaurant for us."

  • "The food at Decca is consistently outstanding and the seasonal changes make it an adventure. Food is creative without being forcedly quirky. The textures, tastes, colors and combinations are perfectly balanced. The same goes for the cocktails! The décor is subtly elegant in its simplicity - conversation is easy, and the wait staff is always friendly and helpful. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "Food quality was awful and high price. Very loud and noisy. Difficult to hear conversation. Tables almost touching and so close to other patrons it makes any type of personal conversation impossible."

  • "Great service, great food, great downstairs bar, great wine and bubbly (Roederer Estate, Anderson Valley, California, been there). We also liked the stairway to the second floor , beautiful, and Museum of Music. GH Louisville"

  • "My wife and I have dined at the restaurant before and enjoyed the experience, but this time was off the charts. We made reservations for outdoor dining, but when we arrived there was a snafu and no outdoor tables were available. They offered to put us on the wait list, but we chose the indoor table because we were hungry. After we received our pre-dinner libations, a complimentary appetizer arrived. It was unexpected and very delicious. However, after dinner we were directed outside to a table for a complimentary dessert, which was also very good. The hostess/manager went well beyond to ensure a very nice dining experience after an issue that may not have been their fault in the first place. Great food and customer service lives here."

  • "Took forever to get our food, but once it came...it was delicious! By the way...bring your own straw...they don't have any. Not even a stir stick??"

  • "My first time at Decca, my husband and I were seated upstairs, outside overlooking the veranda. The restaurant is very unique, has lots of hidden space and seems surprising big for how it appears. We loved the upstairs deck. It was a perfect summer night. I love food, and would call myself somewhat of a foodie....so let me say I thought the food was good. I'd say 3.75 stars if I could. It just didn't WOW me. Being in a food city as Louisville with so many amazing options, we are spoiled. I had the salmon and hubs had the pork chop. We got wine/beer, and shared the potatoes side dish. Overall I will definitely go back. Next time well do more of an apps/cocktail/bar deal and see how that goes. "

  • "There is no better outdoor dining space in Louisville. It really is perfect!"

  • "The outdoor area is wonderful, tables are well spaced, our server was excellent and very knowledgeable on all the menu All the choices were excellent from the salads to middle to main courses. The cobbler was outstanding and the ice cream sandwich a treat "

  • "We love Decca, it may well be one of the best spots in town for outdoor dinning but.... If you are looking for great food for a good price you may want to look elsewhere. The wine list offers a great selection but is very overpriced, the portion sizes are small for the price paid and the al a carte sides for the table are wonderful but add more to the final tab for the meal. Call me old fashion but I thought an entree for $31 should include a side dish. I had a NY strip steak, I literally was served 3 "strips" of steak one of which was just fat and grizzle. It was perfectly done and tasted wonderful but for $31 I think I should have gotten more."

  • "Unique neighborhood gem, excellent food and service. While menu wasn't tremendously expansive, the selections they have are prepared very well. Our server was attentive and charming. Great specialized cocktails, nice ambiance, fun outdoor dining and bar area. We'll be back"

  • "Our first time at Decca. We had a party of four. Got there a little early so we had a drink in the cellar bar. Nice and comfortable. All of us enjoyed dinner. We would like to come back when it's warmer so we can take advantage of the either the patio or upstairs veranda."

  • "I've been going to Decca since it first opened but my life took me in other directions until now. I'm glad I came back. Decca still has outstanding service, fabulous food and one of the best outdoor spaces for dining in town. Since my last visit they've closed the 2nd floor porch which I will miss but the patio serves well."

  • "The food preparation was very imaginative and unique. The best part of the experience for me was the wonderful outdoor patio. "
    Dined on 5/12/2014
  • "The patio is excellent, well shaded with different spots separated by foliage. Service was outstanding...the waitstaff was very attentive, never letting our water glasses go empty. They didn't hover, but were there when we wanted them. The food was outstanding as well. We had three different entrees and all were done to perfection. One piece of advice: the mussel appetizer can be a full entree if you love mussels!"

  • "Had dinner at Decca after the kentucky derby. It was a price fixe menu so choices were limited. First course was a hit all around. Main course was not very good. 3 had steak and all found it grisly. Pork cheeks were ok, but were a little bland. Salmon was the best main, well cooked and tasty. Desserts were well executed. "
    Dined on 5/3/2014
  • "Our experience was a mixed bag. The restaurant was very accommodating to us for our late arrival after the Derby. However, they had prix fix dining only which limited our options. If I had known that, I doubt I would have dined there. The food was hit and miss also. My starter of Asparagus and meal of Braised Pork Cheek was outstanding. My wife wasn't as pleased with her meal, especially her NY strip. Desserts looked great but were just okay. I will say that the ambience is very interesting as they retro alternative music played over the speakers(I loved that). The service was very good even though we had a new waiter. In addition, they were very helpful in getting us a cab when cabs were difficult to get on Derby night. "

  • "Dined at Decca during a recent trip to Louisville for the Derby. Delighted that we had a chance to try this excellent restaurant. Loved absolutely everything about the experience! "

  • "Food was delicious and interesting. Scallop Crudo, Spring Vegetaable Risotto, Asparagus, New York Steak, and Salmon all perfectly presented. Intelligent international wine list. The team executes at a high level. When this popular place is busy, it can get noisy."

  • "This was our first visit to Decca, it has been on our list for more than a year. It was worth the wait, though this was our first visit I can easily see this becoming one of our "go to" restaurants in town. The menu is small, but outstanding. All dishes were raved about by each member in our party. The service was phenomenal, special kudos to Lawrence- he was very attentive, had a great demeanor and made a beautiful outdoor eating experience even more enjoyable. We had a friend in town from Atlanta and she was in awe of the quality of food/dining experiences n Louisville. "

  • "The food was par for the course for the price point. It didn't wow me, but I certainly wasn't disappointed. It was very good. Outdoor seating was excellent. We sat outside on the second floor terrace, overlooking the lower level landscaped patio. It is a pretty sizeable restaurant, with multiple floors and outdoor seating on two levels. I enjoyed it. Service was very good."

  • "The spring pea, feta and mint risotto is a must-have on the menu. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and food at Decca. Would definitely go back when In Louisville, again! There is a beautiful outdoor patio and the interior was exactly what I hoped for. "

  • "Great vibe, great atmosphere, great food. I got the salmon and loved it. The cocktails were very tasty too."
    Dined on 4/25/2014
  • "The food at Decca was well-prepared, but the portions are small and a bit pricey. The atmosphere in the upstairs dining room is stark and uninviting. The service was efficient but unfriendly and offputting. When I told the waiter I had dietary restrictions and asked for a substitution for the gluten-filled grain, they wouldn't accommodate. They did offer to eliminate the offending grain that accompanied my already pricey salmon entree, but I had to pay extra to replace it with a non-gluten side. While the salads and entrees that we had here were very good, the dining experience at Decca overall was rather unwelcoming and unpleasant, especially considering the high cost."

  • "From the bar to the table just a great time! Well done!"

  • "The folks at Decca seems to pride themselves in original fare that is locally sourced. They create unique and very tasty dishes. Only criticism is the menu is a bit limited. That said, the things they offer are fresh and well done. The only curious thing is the beer is not locally sourced. No local beers are available, which seemed a bit odd. Our service was outstanding. Everyone we encountered was not only very nice, but had a great sense of humor."

  • "Decca is superb. On nice days the outdoor patio ie excellent, the food and drinks are exciting, and for after-hours the downstairs lounge is a real gem."

  • "Really enjoyable meal for the 4 of us and exceptional service."
    Dined on 4/10/2014
  • "The reviews intrigued me. They were right. The bar is very unique and inviting. The cocktails featured unique liquor and mixers. The menu is a foodie heaven: originality, very artistic, and delicious. The ambience and service were fantastic. Being a wine lover, I really appreciated the proper wine glasses to enjoy our pinot noir. My only complaint is that I felt the wine prices were a little steep and the mark up higher than other places. I would suggest a wider array of price points on the wine menu for the varietals offered. The outside courtyard and fire pit were a wonderful place to finish our wine and relax after dinner. I totally forgot to look at the art on the 2nd floor. Next time! This is a true gem!!!"

  • "We went there for a special occasion and were very well taken care of. Our server knew details about every dish on the menu as well as wines, drink selections. We went on a night of a major sporting event so it was rather quiet, which we enjoyed but we're looking forward to a return trip soon. The food was excellent and well worth the price."
