A word from decarli
decarli restaurant is where rustic meets modern. Chef/owner, Paul DeCarli, pulls from his Swiss-Italian roots to create a menu that reflects his heritage as well as combine local Northwest ingredients. Polenta fries with gorgonzola butter, mussels in fennel-saffron cream sauce, and espresso-braised shortribs are just a few of the many "must-haves.” Soaring open beam ceilings with rustic brick walls add to the ambiance of this 1924 historic building.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Unexpected find and great food. Went here for our anniversary with my wife and the food/wine pairing were great."

  • "So loud in the diningroom when it's busy that you can hardly hear the person seated across from you. Some sound-dampening would be really nice. I love the restaurant and the food is wonderful, but I always think twice about going there because of how loud it can be. So I would recommend dining either early or late when the diningroom isn't full."

  • "Great food as always. Very consistent! Must have's the Polenta Fries, the shortribs, the double cut pork chop on Friday evening only. Get there early if you want that."

  • "The food was very good, we had a blend of items. The Nero and Gnocchi were very good. The Caesar Salad was very tasty. Service was prompt and well done. only rub is the dinning room was pretty noisy."

  • "Open Table was a great guide to recommend decarli. The menu was imaginative and the food excellent. The service was friendly and the wait staff very competent. An overall wonderful experience. Happy Dad"

  • "Thje food was really outstanding with very large portions."

  • "The food was terrific. Service was good. Loved the ambiance and noise level (not noisy on a busy evening). The tables were nicely spaced apart. They were not too close as in some places where you are knocking elbows with someone as you try to get in and out of your chair. Bathrooms were clean. I look forward to going back again."

  • "We wanted to take our out-of-town guests somewhere special, so we picked decarli. We spent an hour in the bar, Watson Hall, enjoying drinks and appetizers before our reservation in decarli. The waiters were both phenomenal and had great suggestions for us. Thanks for a great experience!"

  • "Fabulous experience. Braised short ribs were wonderful as was the pasta. Rich, complex flavors. Perfect comfort food. Cool hand cuke cocktail was refreshing. Wait staff was friendly, attentive and gave greats recs. we will definitely go back!"

  • "A friend suggested this place to me and she did not steer me wrong. The atmosphere is good, I love the pictures of Italian grocery storefronts on the walls. There were 3 of us at dinner and we shared everything we ordered so we could sample more dishes😊. The beet and strawberry salad was amazing, it sounds like a stange combination but it works, the dressing pulls the flavors together and it was wonderful. All of our main courses were good but the chicken was to die for, I am definitely coming back and ordering the chicken. That is a Hugh statement from me because when I go out to eat in restaurants I almost never order the chicken dishes."

  • "DeCarli has great tasting food. So yummy and portions are good. Service was good. Great to have a high quality restaurant in Beaverton. "

  • "I'm a damn good cook, so if I want to shirk my "duties" on a weeknight, I want to eat well, laugh and enjoy myself. Decarli has great dishes for reasonable money, a nice waitstaff and great drinks. I would let them cook for me any night! "

  • "Went with a friend for special occasion, got drink from bar and was seated promptly. Had a tasty grilled asparagus with fried egg on top where the yolk became the sauce. Got salads which were fine but a bit overdressed, and was disappointed they didn't have their regular beet salad on the menu that night (we were both looking forward to it), my friend got pasta and I had the brick chicken which turned out to be tastier than I thought. While I get the restaurant is more about comfort Italian food, I would like to see at least one healthy entree option for those who want to enjoy a good meal in a nice atmosphere on the westside."

  • "We've enjoyed DeCarli's a few times now (hidden in Beaverton on Watson St. just a block south of Farmington Road). It's a high quality restaurant, with very high quality food that you don't have to fight traffic to go into downtown Portland to enjoy! This occasion was for our wedding anniversary and the moment we walked in and throughout the evening the staff at DeCarli's made it incredibly special for us. Their menu is ever changing, but some of their favorites are always there (the short ribs are amazing!) The other night on our anniversary they made my NY Strip perfectly! It was probably one of the top 5 steaks I have ever had. Well done DeCarli's! Well done! (Special kudos to Ben our waiter as well....)"

  • "We had never been to Decarli's and thought we should try it out. The food was fabulous as was the service. I was very disappointed that there weren't more wines by the glass. As a couple we usually only drink one glass each and there was an extremely small selection of wine by the glass. I think some of the bottles were extremely overpriced too. The noise level was a little loud and I thought it would be more of an adult setting. I'd prefer to not have children around while trying to have a romantic dinner with my sweetie. We left ours at home and it would have been nice others had too. I would recumbent the food, but if you can't finish off a bottle of wine by yourself, you might try somewhere else."

  • "Our clothing smelled of fried food! We had to completely change our attire, including all underwear. Venting the space is a problem!"
    Dined on 5/24/2014
  • "We really enjoyed our meals... beef short ribs are divine.... pork had a wonderful flavor.. a bit on the fatty side but still good. Our waiter picked up on it being my husbands birthday and brought our dessert with a candle in it. So nice to have this restaurant in Beaverton. We need more like this!"

  • "Tucked into an unusual place on a main road through Beaverton, one would not expect to find this neighborhood gem. But clearly popular and filled with many people. Diverse menu that, I believe is organic or farm-raised. A bit dark and rustic. They only have on-street parking which usually isn't a problem at night."

  • "My husband and I dine here a lot and we are never disappointed. Food is wonderful and service matches price and venue. Menu has some mainstay selections, but always has a nice selection of seasonal selections as well. A wonderful place in Beaverton if you are not into chain restaurants. "

  • "Great food and a nice addition to sleepy Beaverton. We were seated at our reservation time without waiting. Service did not match food. Drinks served after salad was served. No bread served until we asked for it. Not offered a look at the wine bottle before it was served. We would try it again. "

  • "HOT Polenta fries. Gorgonzola butter. The Cazuela is absolutely insane. Do yourself a favor and just get the Short Ribs. "

  • "We came for my 30th birthday. Everything we ordered was amazing, as it was the last time we came. I'm so glad this place exists in Beaverton. Hopefully we get more restaurants like it in the area. "

  • "I've been to DiCarli's several times now - Tamara is far and away the best wait-person I've had at ANY restaurant in the Portland area. Food was excellent but what made it perfect (twice now that she's waited my table) was Tamara's depth of knowledge on the foods and wine, her friendly demeanor as well as her on the spot attention to our party...will come back again and ask for Tamara every time!"

  • "Decent food, but expensive for what we received and how it tasted. May have to try something else, but always seems to be busy so I may be the only one that was picky with the food."

  • "The burbs are lucky to have this enjoyable dining spot!! It was a pleasant evening with a great wait staff and interesting, well executed dining options. The only real downside was the décor. The large, lovely brick walled dining room lacked the soft surfaces to absorb the noise levels. The sound was bouncing around the room, at times, making it very hard to hear and forcing you to speak in a loud voice to be heard. They are using their walls to sell Art. Which is a wonderful, generous concept. However, because the display is not well curated it is not aesthetically pleasing for the diners whose chairs face this long wall. With a more thoughtful presentation (pare down the quantity and improve the placement) this concept could work. "

  • "The food here is always amazing, but we ordered mixed drinks that came in martini glasses, that were less then half full. Kind of disappointing, since they are about 8.50 or so each. The short ribs just about made up for it. "

  • "Very nice service, friendly and attentive. Great food and surroundings. Wish I could go more often, but will keep it on the special occasion list. "

  • "This is perhaps the best of Beaverton if you want to get away from the plethora of chains and national menus. The food is excellent, with a very interesting variety that appeals to many tastes and appetites. I had the Beef Shortribs, which apparently is a specialty, with good reason. It was delicious! The portions were generous, and I was able to enjoy the remainder later. I also like that the menu changes according to local availability and what's in season. "

  • "My husband and I sat at the bar at happy hour and had great service and delicious food. The menu was relatively large and had a variety of different foods. It would be nice if they had grass finished local meats on the menu. It had good ambiance and the interior was spare, which is fine for a restaurant. We'll be back again soon."

  • "Once again an awesome meal and terrific service at Decarli's. It is one of our favorite restaurants in town! "
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "The food and service were outstanding. The noise level a little too high - my guests had to speak louder than normal to be heard which was a little distracting. Some soundproofing such as plants or a lower ceiling would make the dining experience a 10+ "

  • "I've eaten at Decarli's three times now and have never been disappointed with the food and service. Both are excellent! It's quite loud in the restaurant, so it can be difficult to have a conversation if you're dining with a group. It's not a problem if your just with another person."

  • "My husband and I have dined at Decarli's numerous times and also frequent the sister establishment Watson Hall on occasion. Our experience this most recent time was so disappointing. I ordered the pork chop which I was unaware would be served medium rare/well. I've only ever experienced pork being cooked well and couldn't stomach eating it any other way. My dissatisfaction comes from not being told at the time I ordered that it was prepared this way so that I could have had an opportunity to ask for it well done. Since the pork chop was so large and needed so much extra time to cook, my husband ate his meal alone while I had to end up taking my meal to go. Not a great date night experience. "

  • "I took my wife of 43 years here for her birthday. She loved every moment. The food was delicious, the drinks very good and after dinner drinks outstanding. All in all a wonderful evening."
    Dined on 5/3/2014
  • "Six of us had dinner here celebrating a birthday. Both the food and service were wonderful. The short ribs are well known and lived up to all expectations. The steak was declared to be the best steak ever!"

  • "To call near-deafening noise levels "energetic" is farcical. Seemed like an off night for the Chef in that we found the food rather ordinary. We have dined at Dicarli's before with fewer guests in the dining room and found the food well above average. We will return."
    Dined on 4/29/2014
  • "We really enjoy dining at Decarli. However, it is noisy! I note on the rate sheet that noisy is not an option under "Noise Level," so I marked energetic. We were dining with elderly parents and they had a hard time conversing because of the noise in the dining room. We will not return with our elderly relatives. "
