A word from decarli
decarli restaurant is where rustic meets modern. Chef/owner, Paul DeCarli, pulls from his Swiss-Italian roots to create a menu that reflects his heritage as well as combine local Northwest ingredients. Polenta fries with gorgonzola butter, mussels in fennel-saffron cream sauce, and espresso-braised shortribs are just a few of the many "must-haves.” Soaring open beam ceilings with rustic brick walls add to the ambiance of this 1924 historic building.Continued

  • "Just enjoyed another great dinner with no complaints! Service was prompt and friendly, food delivery was timely, and the entrees were perfectly prepared. One member of our group enjoyed the beef short ribs, while two others polished off the salmon. We all shared the caramel cheesecake, which was crustless and a perfect ending to the meal. The restaurant is clearly the best spot in Beaverton, and probably the entire west side of greater Portland."

  • "I go every year with friends for my birthday. I've never had a bad meal here. Two things marred it: friend found a hair in his entree, and the s'mores dessert was lukewarm when it came. They were good about replacing my friend's salmon dish that had the hair, although it took a long time and yet the fish arrived a bit undercooked even then. Otherwise, fantastic as always."

  • "It was our first time trying DeCarli & We had reservations at 5:30 PM. It wasn't very busy at that time, however it seemed to have taken over an hour to get our food. Once our food came we weren't impressed with the flavor to salitify the cost of each entree. My husbands king salmon was flooded with sweet raisins & my margheritta/garlic pizza did not have much flavor other than bread & a little sauce. There were multiple things off the menu that they were out of & the staff was a bit interesting. Not sure if we will go back?"

  • "This place lives up to the hype. The food was FANTASTIC!!! I had the beet salad to start - lots of beets and very different from any beet salad I have had before - yummy! Beef short ribs for the entree - OMG, it was amazing! The sauce was to die for!!! Gelato duo for dessert - banana chocolate chunk and salted pistachio - it was good. Only two minor complaints; 1) they have a great wine list, but the options by the glass were pretty limited and 2) the "shortbread cookies" that come with the gelato are hardly what you might think of when you think of a cookie, smaller than a quarter and paper thin. Not a huge deal though, the gelato was really good on its own. :) Overall, I am planning on going back and would definitely recommend."

  • "So loud in the diningroom when it's busy that you can hardly hear the person seated across from you. Some sound-dampening would be really nice. I love the restaurant and the food is wonderful, but I always think twice about going there because of how loud it can be. So I would recommend dining either early or late when the diningroom isn't full."

  • "A friend suggested this place to me and she did not steer me wrong. The atmosphere is good, I love the pictures of Italian grocery storefronts on the walls. There were 3 of us at dinner and we shared everything we ordered so we could sample more dishes😊. The beet and strawberry salad was amazing, it sounds like a stange combination but it works, the dressing pulls the flavors together and it was wonderful. All of our main courses were good but the chicken was to die for, I am definitely coming back and ordering the chicken. That is a Hugh statement from me because when I go out to eat in restaurants I almost never order the chicken dishes."

  • "Went with a friend for special occasion, got drink from bar and was seated promptly. Had a tasty grilled asparagus with fried egg on top where the yolk became the sauce. Got salads which were fine but a bit overdressed, and was disappointed they didn't have their regular beet salad on the menu that night (we were both looking forward to it), my friend got pasta and I had the brick chicken which turned out to be tastier than I thought. While I get the restaurant is more about comfort Italian food, I would like to see at least one healthy entree option for those who want to enjoy a good meal in a nice atmosphere on the westside."

  • "We've enjoyed DeCarli's a few times now (hidden in Beaverton on Watson St. just a block south of Farmington Road). It's a high quality restaurant, with very high quality food that you don't have to fight traffic to go into downtown Portland to enjoy! This occasion was for our wedding anniversary and the moment we walked in and throughout the evening the staff at DeCarli's made it incredibly special for us. Their menu is ever changing, but some of their favorites are always there (the short ribs are amazing!) The other night on our anniversary they made my NY Strip perfectly! It was probably one of the top 5 steaks I have ever had. Well done DeCarli's! Well done! (Special kudos to Ben our waiter as well....)"

  • "Tucked into an unusual place on a main road through Beaverton, one would not expect to find this neighborhood gem. But clearly popular and filled with many people. Diverse menu that, I believe is organic or farm-raised. A bit dark and rustic. They only have on-street parking which usually isn't a problem at night."

  • "We had never been to Decarli's and thought we should try it out. The food was fabulous as was the service. I was very disappointed that there weren't more wines by the glass. As a couple we usually only drink one glass each and there was an extremely small selection of wine by the glass. I think some of the bottles were extremely overpriced too. The noise level was a little loud and I thought it would be more of an adult setting. I'd prefer to not have children around while trying to have a romantic dinner with my sweetie. We left ours at home and it would have been nice others had too. I would recumbent the food, but if you can't finish off a bottle of wine by yourself, you might try somewhere else."

  • "I've been to DiCarli's several times now - Tamara is far and away the best wait-person I've had at ANY restaurant in the Portland area. Food was excellent but what made it perfect (twice now that she's waited my table) was Tamara's depth of knowledge on the foods and wine, her friendly demeanor as well as her on the spot attention to our party...will come back again and ask for Tamara every time!"

  • "The burbs are lucky to have this enjoyable dining spot!! It was a pleasant evening with a great wait staff and interesting, well executed dining options. The only real downside was the décor. The large, lovely brick walled dining room lacked the soft surfaces to absorb the noise levels. The sound was bouncing around the room, at times, making it very hard to hear and forcing you to speak in a loud voice to be heard. They are using their walls to sell Art. Which is a wonderful, generous concept. However, because the display is not well curated it is not aesthetically pleasing for the diners whose chairs face this long wall. With a more thoughtful presentation (pare down the quantity and improve the placement) this concept could work. "

  • "This is perhaps the best of Beaverton if you want to get away from the plethora of chains and national menus. The food is excellent, with a very interesting variety that appeals to many tastes and appetites. I had the Beef Shortribs, which apparently is a specialty, with good reason. It was delicious! The portions were generous, and I was able to enjoy the remainder later. I also like that the menu changes according to local availability and what's in season. "
