I and my family were regular customers at the Ritz many years back because we lived across the street at the Hancock. The service on this birthday occasion was above average.Food was miniscule and average at best.Cocktails especially the watered down Whiskey Manhattan was Sub Par.The whole experience left much to be desired since we should have gone to Café Des architects or Café Spaggia and decided to try Deca one more time but I think it will be my last.

We were impressed with the service the Ritz Carlton and Deca provided. It was a very special occasion, our 20th anniversary. As beautiful as the restaurant is, there was no white tablecloth. I talked to the manager and mentioned the anniversary as I asked if it was possible to have a table set with a table cloth. What I did not expect, was that not only did they provide the linen but set us up with the best table in the house and greeted us with champagne and best wishes. The food was delicious, the waiter was sincere, professional and added to the elegance of the evening.

in the United States hotel dining has just never been at the same level as found in Europe. But this has been changing in the last couple of decades and there are many very very fine restaurants in many of the upscale hotels. Deca is one such place, the food is excellent the service excellence and perhaps best of all it's officially quiet that you can have a conversation over dinner.we have always enjoyed dining here and whenever hey Travelzoo or Groupon is available we always take advantage of it to get an excellent meal, and good value.

Right across the street from the Lookingglass theater, deca is a perfect spot for a lovely pre-theater dining experience. Though it is right off the lobby of the Ritz Carleton, the burbling fountain and sumptuous decor create a surprisingly elegant ambiance. The waiter was personable without being intrusive and our food was delicious. Couldn't ask for a more pleasant beginnig to our evening of theater!

We had lunch in this restaurant many times and it is always great. The ambiance, the food, the service is always outstanding. It is very nice place to go for lunch with your friend or your spouse. When we have guests out of town or country, we always take them here for lunch. It is not only the restaurant, but the location inside the lobby. It is very quiet, peaceful. You can come by yourself, order food and read or just look around at the beauty of your surroundings. Thank you.

The service was top notch. Food was very good. I haven't been to the Four Seasons in years and I miss the way the old dining room was. This is basically located off the lobby/bar area, so there's no privacy. Sort of weird. Takes away from the ambiance and romance.

On Sunday, I had an eggs Benedict and my mom had the Waygu burger. Hint: Order the "Why not?" donuts! Then we went on the Dec for a Bloody Mary. You have your own pot of coffee. It was fabulous. A beautiful open space. For local Chicagoans, it is a nice staycation! (Except, of course, having to run out and move the car after 2 hours, but that's the fault of the city, not Deca - wish there were parking - just needed an extra 15 minutes or so).

This was my 2nd visit for a business lunch. The first visit was part of a successful visit to where I work, and I have hopes that this lunch will be part of success too! Everything about the lunch was fine - broad selection of choices, including healthy choices, and the chef is to be commended. One quibble - there was no signage or direction from the waiter or host directing us as to which of the three bank of elevators to use to get to the ground level.

Service was fantastic and we were always served with a genuine smile. They comped our 1st round of drinks and gave us chocolate truffles with the check to help celebrate our occasion, which was a very nice thoughtful touch. The squash ravioli was overpriced for the portion as well as the somewhat bland presentation. The steak tartare was much better. Our split salmon entree was amazing. It was perfectly cooked and the mustard crust made for one of the best salmon dishes I've ever had. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant being open to a lobby in the hotel, however it wasn't much of a mood setter with the bright lights. Overall, great experience, but I would probably leave it at a one time experience.

First, the city view from the bar is terrific. Because of bad weather, we were not able to walk on the outdoor bar area. The service was outstanding. We had a waiter that was absolutely charming and attentive! And the food was just incredible. I had the rack of lamb and my friend had the salmon. Both were very delicious. I would definitely come back again.

What a wonderful dining experience! My wife and I recommend the French Onion soup as an appetizer. As far as entrees, my wife had the mustard crusted salmon and I had the scallops, with both of us having the sautéed baby spinach as a side. In one word, it was all "scrumptious." If you are ever in the Chicago area, especially, if you are staying at the Ritz-Carlton, for an excellent Chicago dining experience, you need to go no further than the 12-floor lobby at the Ritz-Carlton.

Deca was an OK experience. The food was tasty (although not really terrific). In addition, the prices resemble fine dining which is simply not consistent with a brasserie that is located in the lobby of a hotel. For example, my lamb was $34, desserts are $9, coffee is $5 and soup was $12. Also, I felt like the menu was very difficult. There was not one salad that truly sounded interesting and the only non fruit dessert was a 10 layer chocolate cake.

We were seated in a semi-private room with one other table of about 12 people (it felt like they had a private room and we were intruding). We booked our reservation well in advance so not sure why were not seated in main area. Our waiter first came to our table after about 20 minutes but never showed up again. We went to manager and asked for a new waiter or at least a beacon to let him know we still existed. We had an asst mgr as our server rest of night and it was clear that she was trying but lacked server skills. Food was ok but way over-priced. The final kicker was the inability of the valet to locate our car. We will not be returning to this restaurant and will not recommend to others.

The food and service are consistent, the menu changes for the season are welcomed. We had the scallop carpaccio to start, and it was a beautifully constructed dish with a delicious sauce, followed by the superb trout served amandine with green beans, all complemented by a wonderful Sancerre available by the glass. My only quibble is the berries served with the excellent mango sorbet were a little underripe. Personable server made it fun too. Not just for hotel guests-if you live in the area, it's a great choice.

Just fair hotel experience. Not excellent or prpoportionate to the price or reputation of Ritz Carlton. Won't go back for a long time. Service not prompt. Could be more creative on menu. Subdued atmosphere is fine, but it is really boring. Must do something to spice up the atmosphere without losing the soft feeling. THough not crazy expenvie, I would spend my hotel dining money elsewhere - Godfrey...?

While the food was very good (scallops, steak frites, salmon, deca salad) the pricing was much too high. The restaurant seemed to play off being at the Ritz, but it was essentially in the large lobby area and felt like any hotel restaurant in ambiance. A glass of wine was $16, and that was for a wine that was $9.99 a bottle at Binny's. With so many amazing restaurants in Chicago, there's no reason to pay that much for a name. The desserts were just OK (chocolate cake; profiteroles). Service was friendly but spotty. Even though only two other tables were filled, we were looking for wait staff. While I'd love to have the main dishes again, they're pricing esp. for cocktails is prohibitive given the ambiance and service.

Went there yesterday for brunch with some friends. Food tasted good, but not great. Same with the service. In fact, our waiter kept coming to take our plates away even though we weren't done. The restaurant itself is in the Ritz lobby, it doesn't have its own place so kind of feels like eating breakfast at a chain hotel, except the fountain is nicer. Being the Ritz, we had expected more. Overall experience was underwhelming.
