deca Restaurant + Bar located at The Ritz-Carlton, a Four Seasons hotelGreat breakfastIt was just what I was looking for, a hearty and good quality breakfast in a very nice but not too formal place, convenient for shopping and a quick exit. The service was good. Lamb sausage was excellent, and I really appreciated the real maple syrup.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot for food & ambienceLOCATION
As you walk in, you can't miss a water fountain followed by the bar area. To the right you will notice the sit down restaurant side.
SERVICE
The serveuse was very cordial and prompt to sit us and call us by the name we provided in our reservation.
If you are not visiting the bar, I would highly recommend a tour of the deck specially by night.
If you are pressed for time, I wouldn't recommend the sit-down restaurant for dinner.
FOOD
The food was very tasty and one gets a nice amount of food for the amount paid. Steak and tortellini were our main dishes and were very satisfied with the food. The steak is served with fries (very odd for a french-cuisine restaurant) but they are very tasty.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMChanges diminish enjoyment of DecaThe new wine menu is a huge disappointment to people who had enjoyed the extensive wines by the glass list for years. I am no longer rating Deca highly for its notable wines by the glass list - it's now on par with lots of places. The selection no longer includes some of my personal favorites like the simple but lovely Cote du Rhone. . . .
Service was very nice, but a little slow given how few other diners were there.
I'm happy to see flowers back in the main lobby, although it looks like a pared down Sofitel-style presentation.
BE PREPARED TO PAY $32 for parking just for a dinner visit - validation for a Deca visit is no longer offered. Printing desserts upside down on the menu is annoying - not cute or catchy.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMgood choicefood was excellent, fish perfekt cooked, fair prices5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWill visit again! The staff was knowledgeable, courteous and very helpful. The atmosphere and ambiance was superb. The food quality and selection fit people who love food. There were some regular items too.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMin the middle of the fourin the middle of the four seasons hotel so a bit going on around, but service is impeccable and the food is delish. high prices, but worth it.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the ambienceWe have been living (and eating) in Chicago for almost 10 years and we had yet to dine at the Ritz until recently. We were pleasantly surprised by our new find in deca and plan on going back. We really enjoyed the ambience, sitting off to the side of the atrium. It was quiet enough to have an intimate conversation but the background noise of the running fountain and the passers-by created a great atmosphere. The food was very good overall, but unfortunately was overshadowed by the halibut that came out a little gummy. But we sent it back to be cooked a touch more and there was no problem. And our server seemed very rushed even though there were empty tables around. Perhaps they were understaffed.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a lovely venue forThis is a lovely venue for dinner for two or 10. The large lounge and ambiance is
uplifting and beautiful. The service is great and we had a delicious dinner.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWE went to Deca for my daughter-in-WE went to Deca for my daughter-in-laws birthday- 5 people including a 5 year-old and a `14 year old. The food was exceptional, especially the halibut and the salmon. Also, the desserts were delicious. A wonderful meal and a kid friendly place.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA real find in a great area.A real find in a great area. Great food and reasonable. Very good staff. Why not have dinner at the Fitz?4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMYou'd think for $150, I couldYou'd think for $150, I could get a decent cup of coffee with my brunch. I got one, had to wait several minutes for cream, which was curdled. After sitting there for nearly an hour and no refill, I went to the bar for another cup, which was ice cold. Disappointing service to say the least. The food, however, was absolutely delicious, and the staff preparing omelettes/breakfast and carving meat were great.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMShort on Easter?Very disappointing experience for a Ritz Carlton- Four Seasons!!! The check-in for our one o'clock Easter reservation appeared to be staffed by 1 person. The area in front of the fountain, which was home to the Seafood stations, was packed with dozens of families waiting to be seated making it difficult for seated guests to access the stations. We were seated on the west side of the fountain. Perhaps there were 4 other tables with guests seated. We sat for a good ten minutes before our waiter came to our table. Perhaps he was not a regular on the staff which would explain his awkward explanation of the buffet stations. The staff behind the food stations were delightful and helpful. Visually the food was spectacular as was the quality.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything about our experienceEverything about our experience here was great. Our waiter was a real gem, really enjoyed his personality and the service that was provided. The food was excellent and we really loved the ambiance of the restaraunt. There was live piano music being played in the bar area which was the perfect volume to add to the beautiful setting.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food could have been betterThe food could have been better Taste value Quality was good3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic late lunchWent here after a spa day with my girl at the four seasons. The water sound from the fountain was relaxing. The French onion soup is outstanding. The burger was undercooked, but refired and was tasty. The health and happiness cocktail was very good.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff, management andThe staff, management and cuisine were exceptional! The international wine list was a very pleasant surprise.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMMy friend and I arrived forMy friend and I arrived for tea. I didn't realize that she was gluten free and a lot of the tea menu has flour in it. The staff very graciously accommodated her request, coming up with a vegetable sandwich on gluten free bread, a gluten free muffin and a bowl of fruit. The service was prompt, and there was no recriminations for not warning them ahead of time about the dietary issues. All staff were very hospitable. We had an excellent afternoon. Beth3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAttractive, quiet hotel restaurantAttractive, quiet hotel restaurant located in the expansive lobby of this beautiful hotel. Menu was appealing and service was great.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, Great Ambiance, BUTMy wife and i had dinner there last night.
The French onion soup is the best I ever had in the United States. It compares to some of the great ones in Montreal and Quebec City.
Our main courses were trout and wild salmon and they were delicious.
Everything was wonderful. But, for having reasonable food prices there beverage prices are just too high. A small bottle of diet coke was $5 and a lemonade $6.
If a restaurant is trying to lure people in with reasonable prices, screwing us over on soft drinks just turns us off. I was planning to make deca a regular restaurant for lunch or dinner, but now with $5 for a lemonade, count me out.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place, great food andGreat place, great food and great service, especially from David, our server. Does not seem to get the notoriety of many other places in the area, but its good food, service and ambience....another example of how hotel food has become so good, local people will come.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst, the restaurant wasFirst, the restaurant was very accomodating as traffic delayed us 1 hour from our reservation. Once there, dinner was lovely - I had the wild salmon with artichokes - delicious. My friend had the roasted chicken which she said was excellent. Our server David was very knowledgeable about the menu offerings.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI am a member of the hotel'sI am a member of the hotel's Carlton club,,and very happy to be one. It is a great Chicago dining place , and wonderful for families.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA great date nightEverrything about the Ritz is great. The food was delicious. Great portions and value. We ordered the mushroom agnolotti and cassoulet and both were flavorful and well presented. Profiteroles were a wonderful ending. Great drink list. We went for Resataurant Week and disappointed that the menu offered wasn't really any savings. The dining room is in the lobby so there is live music on weekends, and tables are well spread out. People tend to dress up a bit to go here.2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFood presentation was greatFood presentation was great - food was good - services was pleasant.1/12/2013 12:00:00 AMCivilizedYou pay a bit more but you get great service & very good dishes in a relaxed setting, without the bustle of Michigan Ave, though you are right nearby. We go for breakfast. The brunch is good but usually too much food for us.11/23/2012 12:00:00 AMFood, service, and ambianceFood, service, and ambiance were all great when a friend and I met for lunch. Each of us had a salad and would both recommend our selections -- Nicoise and Lyonnaise. This is the lobby restaurant on the 12th floor of a hotel so it's an open space, not an intimate dining room. But it's comfortable, not rushed, and a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon. It's pricey, though maybe not more so than other hotel dining rooms.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
