Dean's Seafood Grill & BarAwesome Mother's Day Brunch!I took my wife and children here for Mother's Day. We arrived at 10am and was seated promptly. The staff was very nice and cordial. Although the initial line for omlettes and waffles was long. The line moved quickly. The items available were unlimited. I love seafood and they had a bounty of delicious dishes to choose from. I was truly impressed and the food was very good. My wife and children enjoyed the food and the ambiance. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be returning.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and ServiceThe food was delicious and prepared well. Justin his an excellent waiter. The fried seafood platter tastedd good according to one member in my group, but it did not look attractive. Fried too much, too dark and looked like it was just thrown on the plate. The french fries were very dark also.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNice place for brunchThe food is outstanding, huge crowd on Mother's day brunch, lone line but it is expected. Service is
slow even for brunch, but again, it is expected for a busy day. Overall, will go back again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMShocked by price increase! We enjoyed the seafood brunch at Dean's on Mother's Day -- the food and service were great, especially considering the enormous crowd. However, we were shocked when the bill arrived and the price of the brunch was 50% higher than it was on Easter Sunday (also a very popular and busy day at Dean's).5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThere are very few decentThere are very few decent brunches in this area. Dean's brunch was the best that I have found without having to drive to Pinehurst. Great seafood dishes. The omelet station was well organized and moved very quickly. The quality was just as good as table service.
They have very good regular bar specials as well. I went by last night for the half price raw bar special on Mondays.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best seafood placesIf you like seafood you will want to check out the newly opened Deans in Cary. They have an excellent selection of fish and other seafood served how you want it. The service was really great and knowledgeable about the menu and the food was very well prepared. Definitely recommended.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat neighborhood restaurant.Great neighborhood restaurant. I loved the mixed grill - shrimp, salmon, scallops - my wife had the low country favorite - shrimp & grits. She loved the generous portion of shrimp and the tangy bbq sauce. Also, the grilled veggies were fantastic. The banana white chocolate bread pudding is to die for!!! The service was prompt, courteous and our server new the dishes and was not afraid to make recommendations.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat new addition to areaThe service was just fantastic! Food choices were really good. Everyone loved their " Bowl" style dishes (food, not china). Those who ordered the various trout dishes felt they were ok, but not quite properly cooked. Overall, all in my party said they will be back!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to Dean's twiceI have been to Dean's twice and both times the food & service were superior! Dean's will be on our list of regular dinning spots.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to go backWe've eaten at a number of Rocky Top restaurants in the past and have always liked their approach. Dean's is a great addition. We like the mix of local (NC) food and interesting food from all over. The meal at Dean’s was really really good. Our group had fun; we got great service, tried some new dishes, and felt very welcome. Some might think its a little pricey but it was worth it for a great evening out. We’re already planning to go back again!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for dinner or brunchAfter many brunches, we visited Deans for dinner. They have a good variety of seafood served with fresh local seasonal vegetables. The accompanying sauces add a great complement to the seafood. Excellent selection of oysters as well. The staff is engaged and attentive, but not over powering.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMTrue to their name!Very good seafood. This is our second visit both times the food was cooked perfect. It is easy to over cook fish; they do a great job at Deans. The salmon was perfect! Our server did seem a little distracted. We never got the bread refill we requested and our water glasses did not stay full.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMVery enjoyable meal. OurVery enjoyable meal. Our waiter, Jordan, was great. Very friendly staff. Will return.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe dined outside so noiseWe dined outside so noise level not really aplicable to in side.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMService was great. Lots ofService was great. Lots of variety - waiter was very helpful in describing the 'accompaniment' portion of menu. We had pan-friend scallops and skewered shrimp. Both were jumbo-sized and the portions were generous. Very un-rushed atmosphere, even for a Saturday night. An oyster-lover's nirvana. A complete thumbs-up.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second visit toThis was my second visit to Dean's. The service both times has been incredible. In my opinion, the food is not worth the price, and the portions are somewhat small. I had surf & turf this last time. The steak was bland and flavorless. I got the grilled shrimp along with it. They were delicious, but the meal only came with 3 medium-sized shrimp. We also ordered the $15 dozen gulf oysters. They were also very delicious. At the end of the meal, split a dozen oysters, had a side caesar salad, surf & turf, two beers, and $82 + tip later, I left hungry.
My previous visit to Dean's was similar. I ordered the crab cakes--they were amazing. But again, the portion size was very small.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday DinnerWent here for my husband's birthday dinner. I am NOT a seafood fan, but he is. That being said, he totally enjoyed the raw oysters and mahi mahi. My steak was awesome; my son's cheeseburger was fine. They try too hard with the "extras" -- a good steak is perfection itself; put butter on top, but don't put spices and such in the butter - it would have been awesome without it. Same with the sauces...they are offered with the fish dishes, but in a restaurant who's claim is seafood....your fish should stand pretty much alone. Fresh fish (and beef) is a glorious thing - you don't need to hide it by slathering on sauces.
The bread pudding: a work of art - order it. The service - meh. Our waiter was inattentive. Others seemed fine.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Creme Brulee is a mustThe Creme Brulee is a must try and it definitely is big enough for 2. Our server said it's as big as a football and he was telling the truth. Plus it was yummy!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday Evening DiningIt was a lovely experience dining with friends on a Sunday evening. The food was delicious, and the waiter was very accommodating. We plan to have a repeat performance.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMy friend and I enjoyed ourMy friend and I enjoyed our dinner on friday night. Food was delicious and Service was excellent. Having a local seafood restaurant that serves such delicious seafood is wonderful.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter than before. An improved version of the original Raleigh restaurant. The restaurant is larger, more intimate setting - quiet to moderate noise - conducive to conversation. There is live music in the outdoor dining area on Fri and Sat after 9:00. The menu had many favorites from the Raleigh restaurant plus many new things. The food was wonderful - we had shark and blue marlin - perfect. The choice of sides includes many healthy options. The wait staff worked together to keep things moving. Very nice. It will be a regular for us.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great! Its greatThe food was great! Its great to have a seafood restaurant in the area. Our server, Kyle, was excellent and the management came by to check on our experience. I think Dean's will be around for a long time!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the second time weThis is the second time we have gone to Deans. The food is absolutely delicious.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBurger nightMy husband and I used to love the blue cheese burger when it was Rockwell's, so that's what we ordered. First, we each had a salad...me, the garden salad, and my husband the apple salad. Both were wonderful and were pretty to boot. The burgers were good also, altho not quite to die for as they were before. Not sure what was changed when they "upscaled" it, but it isn't an improvement in taste. Neither of us like the fat steak fries, much preferring the skinny fries from the Rockwell days. That said, we plan to return, and often, so we can try out the rest of the menu.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very good - wellFood was very good - well prepared. Our server was great - attentive and personable (sorry cant remember her name). Food reasonably prices for its quality. Would definetly return.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMEaster Sunday brunch was great,Easter Sunday brunch was great, though quite crowded.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI was very impressed withI was very impressed with the food but most importantly in how hard the service staff worked... they were so busy but always available for us.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI am so glad that this restaurantI am so glad that this restaurant opened in our neck of the woods! It was wonderful....except that we went on Easter, and being new and their third brunch, it was waaaay overpacked. I wouldn't return again on a holiday after this. We did the brunch buffet, and it took 45 minutes to get food. This was due to the placement of the buffet and the amount of people there. I did however love the food and would definitely come back on a non-holiday. like, next week maybe. Our waitress was also really good.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat selection of very tastyGreat selection of very tasty food. Wait staff was very attentive, but not intrusive. Would come back again.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Easter Brunch was wonderful! The Easter Brunch was wonderful! The food was good and plenty of it. Dean's is to be commended for their staff. As food disappeared, it was replaced before it completely ran out. Not something seen at all buffets. Only downside was the flow of the line. But the food and staff were great!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAttended the Easter brunchAttended the Easter brunch buffet. Was crowded
And buffet layout was a little confusing and congested.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for the Sunday brunch. We went for the Sunday brunch. The food was excellent and the service was exceptional. There was only one separate station ( for omelettes ) and the rest was one very long line going around the bar. If we only wanted hot dishes, we had to go thru the whole line, passing breakfast foods that we weren't interested in. There was a large assortment of items and the price is very reasonable.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Brunch is Back! The most amazing brunch in the Raleigh area!!! Made to oreder waffles, omlettes, great variety of foods for all different tastes, and delicious shrimp and grits. What more could you ask for? I will definitely become a regular.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGlad to see they brought theGlad to see they brought the brunch back after the makeover of the restaurant. They have added seafood to the brunch, a great addition. The servers are fantastic - very attentive and very engaged with the customers.Food is good with a good brunch variety in a buffet format- omelet, pancake, and waffle stations, breakfast foods (bacon, sausage, hash browns, etc., salads, raw oysters and peel and eat shrimp, and a number of good entrees - shrimp and grits, salmon, beef, fried chicken and 7 or 8 other main courses and side dishes. Excellent selection of desserts for those that save room. Highly recommend for brunch. I will return bringing friends.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Sunday brunch!Went for their Easter Sunday brunch. Had reservations and had to wait only a short time. Food was very good, lots of great choices. Access to the line was a little cumbersome, with long lines. Wait staff was attentive. Will be going back! Want to try the evening menu.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is what the area hasThis is what the area has been missing, not only in an excellent seafood restaurant but one which is a palate experience every time you go. The menu offers creative entrees as well as base dishes, which is easy on the budget. The atmosphere is quiet, relaxing and reminds me of a high end restaurant you would find in a larger city.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMpan seared flounder was cookedpan seared flounder was cooked to perfection! love Dean's - definitely will be back!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA True DelightA fine addition to the neighborhood. Great food prepared perfectly. The restaurant is warm and inviting. There is always something new on the menu to try. Service aims to please.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was superb! Server wasFood was superb! Server was very knowledgable of the menu down to the fine detail. GREAT service!! Our server use to work before when it was Stonewood and he use to our server and is a great asset to Deans.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time at Dean's and willFirst time at Dean's and will definitely return! We had cocktails, wine, the appetizer sampler, and fresh fish. All was delicious. Our server was knowledgeable and offered great recommendations. I was very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate and drank. The ambiance was nice, with a reasonable amount of noise, but a fairly intimate setting in our booth for dinner. Great experience! Can't wait to go back!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, drink and service! We just happened to pick this restaurant again, three days after last dining here. Serendipity too, as they had the Foothill Brown Ale cask beer available which is awesome. The food was great, the service was perfect. This will be a new favorite place to hang out, either for dinner or bar service.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our first visitWe enjoyed our first visit to Dean's Seafood Grill & Bar......Plan to go back!!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA strong start for a new restaurantDean's is run by a restaurant group that is well-established in the area and that experience shows in many ways. The staff is top-notch, from very friendly and helpful bartenders to attentive but not overbearing wait staff. Everything was very efficient and smooth. The menu is pretty extensive and the kids options are far more variend than we are used to seeing. The food was well-prepared and tasted great.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time, had a great experience.First time, had a great experience. Food and service were very good.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDeans is a wonderful placeDeans is a wonderful place for seafood. Western Cary was in need of a top notch seafood restaurant and Deans is the answer. The price range is moderate to expensive, for instance on our last visit with an appetizer, two entrees and three drinks we spent $85 before tip. I had the rainbow trout entree at $22 and it was absolutely wonderful. My spouse had a lobster bowl entree at $19, also wonderful. The service was fantastic and our waitress Tina was friendly and very attentive to our needs. The manager was rounding in the restaurant, always a good sign they are working toward great customer service! I highly recommend Deans.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMA Pleasant Seafood EveningOpenTable made the reservations a snap. Our table was ready when we arrived. The appetizer (fried oysters) came very quickly and was very good - nice sauces with it. The food (Mixed Grill) was good - well above average seafood for the Triangle area. Tried a couple of new wines - one was quite good (MatchBook Chardonnay), the other was so-so. The waiter was very personable - even offered to pull up a chair if we couldn't finish everything ;-) Overall, a very good eating experience - we will go back.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAll 4 of us that dined wereAll 4 of us that dined were very pleased with the entire experience & pleased as well that we now have a real SEAFOOD restaurant in CARY.
Needless to say we will return & recommend it to our friends here in Carolina Preserve.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat addition to CaryThe menu was overwhelming with the variety of entrees available and the combination of sides and sauces; meal selection was difficult as we wanted to try everything. The Seafood Newburg was amazing. I want to go back for that, but with so many options I feel I would be cheating myself by not trying something else. Good beer and wine selection. Our waiter was a little slow, but it looked as if the others were very attentive so I think this was an isolated case.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat seafood restaurantGreat seafood! Service was good until dessert when waiter decided to chat with other table for 15 minutes.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGiving Bonefish a run for its moneyGreat selection of seafood, excellent presentation, perfectly prepared at a reasonable price3/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
