  • "Some of the best I've ever had. In fact, the sauce is so good, you don't even need the shellfish."

  • "We live within walking distance of Dean & DeLuca's, purveyor of "gourmet treats" & known for their gourmet groceries. They have an area called the Wine Bar which includes a small menu which changes from time to time. It's located in the heart of Philip's Place which is known for their upscale boutiques, a Cineplex & another fine restaurant. It's very pleasant to sip some wine and have a bite to eat on their outdoor patio (it's fun to chat with folks at neighboring tables who often turn out to be "neighbors" as well! The food is good, but I wouldn't go their for a superb culinary experience. It is convenient to be able to stop in D&DeLuca afterwards to pick up some fab gourmet groceries or to check out the neighboring shops afterwards."

  • "We've been going to D&D for some time now and always have a great meal. The food is excellent and the service has been good. Once or twice we had a server who was a bit inattentive. This is a mainstay in our Saturday evening dinner rotation."

  • "I have been here many times and the food, wine and beer is to die for but the service is always only ok. We received an incorrect flight and the server never apologized, though he did replace it. I feel like for the prices and type of restaurant it is the service should always be outstanding."

  • "I love Dean and Deluca for lunch but dinner was disaster. I ordered the hamburger without a bun and a side salad with blue cheese dressing.the menu said it was a bacon cheeseburger. What I got was a 1/4" patty, no bacon, no cheese! where'd it go?I haven't a clue. no ketchup on the side. My salad had an oil and vinegar dressing with a small cup of blue cheese on the side. Others said their chicken was overdone and dry. It just wasn't up to their usual standard."

  • "The restaurant is conveniently located and the setting made for a lovely evening with friends. We did not feel rushed and really enjoyed conversation and good food."

  • "Food was disappointing and expensive. Have been many times for dinner at D&D and food and service has gone downhill. No energy put into anything. Too bad, this could have been a great neighborhood spot."

  • "I booked the table for 6 people and when we were met at the door by the hostess, she said she was sorry, but they were running late and it would be a few minutes. She invited us to sit at the bar (it was packed and there was no place to sit or stand). We waited with our party for over 20 minutes, asking several times for a status update. The excuse was "it is restaurant week." I was disappointed. While I realize restaurant week is busy, there is a reason for reservations. The server was always carrying plates and looked annoyed when we ordered-and we ordered the full deal: apps, bottles of wine, entrees, desserts, and coffees-I would have thought he would have been more attentive. I felt like the service was equivalent to Chili's. Bummer."

  • "The reservation was for 6:30 pm for 5 people. They sat us at 7:20 pm at a table that was fit for 4 people."

  • "My food and Pinot flight were great! I waited for 45 minutes for my reserved table!! Sat closer to the bar and in front of the door to the store (not the best table) it got cold and windy (yes indoors) every time the door to the outside by the bar was open, not the best thing while eating. I'd probably go back in the summer never again on a cold night!"

  • "We arrived at 6:10 for a 6:15 reservation for 3 people. We were told our table wasn't ready and we would have a 15 minute wait. By 7:10 we were still waiting and there were still tables ahead of us to be seated. We left starving. Luckily, we called Aroojis and they fit us in. We had a fabulous dinner at Aroojis. Not going back to D&D. It was an aweful experience with terrible table and reservation management."

  • "We have enjoyed D&D since they added the new restaurant to the store. The food and wine have always been excellent. Ambience has usually been fast paced, crowded, good crowd. Our service was fair to poor this last time. Food was late arriving. Short rib was tough, stringy. Attentiveness to water, clearing table was poor especially with the very small table tops. Perhaps, this was due to Queen's feast week and more people than usual, but still no excuse. We'll give it another chance, but don't like poor service especially with food being less than what we expect."

  • "35 minutes after our reservation we were still not seated with no explanation from the Hostess. Left."

  • "So awful we left after half an hour when all we had received was our wine. Was told that the food (a salad and hamburger) would be at least another 15 minutes. Service was terrible with the five waiters standing around playing on their phones."

  • "It's a weird concept. Aside from the service errors, no coffee at all after 6pm. Really? Six small toasts with a huge meat cheese plate. Really? Sat three if us at a table for six on New Year's Eve. Is there any management at this place?"

  • "Why Dean & DeLuca shows availability for large groups is a puzzle. I made a reservation for 12 people at 8:15. We were still waiting at 9:15 due to one table lingering, no fault of D&D's. I looked on Open Table to see if there was a table for 12 available anywhere else and guess who had a table in 30 minutes? Dean & DeLuca. Now as to the food, very good. And our server handled the large table well. But, another beef. They couldn't do a 3 way credit card split of a check."

  • "Was here for a business dinner for 5. After 30 minutes had to inquire if we had a server. The wine expert had already accidentally helped us, so we had wine, but no server. During the meal he was not attentive and slow. Not impressed. However, the food was excellent."

  • "The food overall was tasty and served hot! However, the server we had left a lot to be desired. We had ordered a bottle of wine and appetizers and had told her we'd wait a bit until we ordered. She came back and she commented that "we could just flag her down when we were ready and she would leave us alone." Not the way to set the tone for the rest of the evening. Then after the bill was paid, someone in the group decided he wanted coffee. We couldn't flag her down or find her. He ended up going into the store part and getting a coffee. We certainly could have used some water with ice, as well! We were all disappointed with the quality of the service."

  • "Perfect for what we wanted. Above average snacks while we unwind with a glass of wine. Ceviche was delish!"

  • "The first time we (husband, wife, adult son) went, we had to wait for a while because our last minute made reservation didn't come up on their computer. Not really their fault, but they proceeded to comp some of our wine and gave us desserts! The food is excellent (best ever bruschetta) and really nice food choices for a wine bar. The second time my husband and I went, the manager (?) remembered us and at the end brought us our favorite dessert - again for free. I have also been there for girls night out and we keep coming back."

  • "Their wine flights offer a real opportunity to taste 3 excellent wines that are offered in their shop, a quite expansive selection of styles. The menu varies from small bites to full entrees. We recommend the humus trio, as well as the fresh ceviche, which is a wonderfully generous serving. The lobster sliders are good, but the hand made chips are sometimes stale."

  • "This was a very delicious brunch. We took guests here as a second choice because Upstream was booked for a private event. Somewhat limited menu, but the vegetable omelet was absolutely delicious, served with small serving of potatoes and multi- grain toast. Great coffee and good service, too. Yum! Will definitely try again."

  • "This was our first time dining at Dean and DeLuca. We loved the extensive wine list. We ordered the white bean appetizer, a roasted beet salad and scallop entree. All were very good. However, our server was terrible. We had to flag the server down multiple times for water refills, to order, for an additional glass of wine and even for the check. We felt like we had to beg for every little thing which was annoying. This was probably the worst service we have experienced at any restaurant in the SouthPark area."

  • "A true gem for both food as well as wine!! Ample appetizer portions accompany superb wine flights. The entrees are inspired. Service is impeccable from very well-informed servers. GO GO!!"

  • "We were at the old coffee shop tables across from Upstream. Nice to be outside for a glass of wine, but could have used a plant or two around the edge or something on the table to recognize the fact that were were dining at a restaurant. Felt a little strange. Service was great, food was very good, wine was interesting--we drank a couple of flights to try new things. Indoors, the place feels more "special.""

  • "Great food, fun & professional staff, AND you can go right in and buy some gourmet goodies to bring home with you! Dog friendly patio, we always have a great dining experience here. Just watch that recently instated "corkage fee" of $15 for wine bottles priced under $30 a bottle. Personally find that to be a turnoff and told them so - there are plenty of really good wines on their wine list for $20 a bottle or so, ya' know?"

  • "I go to D&D often and have never had a bad experience. Unfortunately for Mother's Day Brunch, the service was not up to par."

  • "We love dining at Dean & DeLuca's outdoor patio with our 2 very sophisticated senior doggies who have enjoyed dining out with us up and down the east coast for many years. Service and food have been consistently good here. And you have the added benefit of the Dean & DeLuca store with every gourmet food imaginable right there (hey, stop in to stock up on fine crackers, cheese & your next evening's dinner!)"

  • "odd you cannot get some simple stuff like a croissant at the brunch but can go buy it in the store..."

  • "Have been here on three separate occasions in 2 weeks and it is my new favorite spot in Charlotte. I have yet to find anywhere in Charlotte that offers wine flights and it is a really fun way to try different wines. I would recommend the Driven Zin and the crab cake salad. Last time we got the bruschetta and it was amazing. I highly recommend Dean & Deluca's wine bar."

  • "This is the second time we have been to the new wine bar and the service was awful. We sat at the bar and wasn't asked once if we wanted food, another glass of wine, etc. Each time we wanted to order something we had to waive the bartender over. The food was OK, it definitely wasn't good enough to make up for the lack of service."

  • "Lots of fun...extremely crowded. Great wine list and small plates."

  • "We were pleasantly surprised with our experience at the Dean & Deluca Wine Room. I was afraid the Wine Room would simply be a wine bar acting like it had a kitchen (serving limited and "easier" food). Instead, we had a very enjoyable meal with a nice menu with some delicious options. Service was attentive, atmosphere was lively (and you could still talk without yelling). The Wine Room is a great addition to the Phillips Place Dean & Deluca. Note: One administrative issue is that the Wine Room does not seem to have its own phone number. I tried calling for last minute reservations, but was put on hold by the main D&D store staff, transferred into limbo, etc. I gave up. Thanks to Open Table for a quick online reservation!"
