  • "We had a good time people watching and enjoying our pub food dinner before attending the Music Circus. Menu includes a bar menu, salads, sandwiches and entrees. This is a great place to people watch and enjoy a cold beer. There are TVs showing sports so beware if this isn't what you had in mind. Service was great and our food was decent. The atmosphere is lively."

  • "Reuben and clam chowder were too salty but my friends who ordered salads and fish & chips were happy"

  • " Although we arrived early the table was waiting for us. The restaurant and bar were quite active. Our waitress was always busy, but she spent the exact right of time with the 3 of us to see that our needs were met. One of my guests was quite pleased with her Bloody Mary as it had bacon strips in it. We have eaten in the Davis deVeres many times and were familiar with the menu and ordered the Shepard's Pie and the cheeseburger, both favorites of ours. For desert we shared the bread pudding which was not your typical recipe. It was two pieces of bread rather than chunks. The caramel sauce and ice cream made it quite scrumptious. We all enjoyed the experience. Parking is difficult in this area on Sundays."

  • "This was a fabulous find! with an ex-pat for a husband finding fresh home made black and white pudding hit the spot The atmosphere was fantastic, lively energetic crowd with everyone helpful reminding us of the UK. We have already decided we will be back again with friends."

  • "They have fantastic food for brunch and lunch, and after food service is over the place becomes a great bar with top notch scotch and Irish whisky. The bartenders are especially knowledgeable!"

  • "I made a reservation for two. We were seated immediately then it took our waiter nearly 20 minutes to even acknowledge us. Once he did, we tried to order some drinks and asked "what do you have on tap?" - he had no idea. So we ordered our beers; another 20 minutes later he returns my friend's beer telling me the one I selected was out. I choose another. It takes 10 minutes to get that one. We've still not ordered dinner. He drops my beer on the table and disappears. We ended up asking the hostess for everything because our waiter was never to be found. I would NOT recommend if you are on any kind of time table (we only had 2 hours to eat). If you don't mind waiting several hours, then it's pretty good."

  • "It was 105 degrees that evening when we arrived early for our reservation. Happy Hour at de Vere's. Sitting in the comfortably cool pub, we started our evening with an Irish brew and a very cool Chardonnay. I ordered the Irish Stew--OMG, every morsel was so delicious. The beef was so tender it felt as it was melting in my mouth. I had to stop myself from licking the bowl. We topped off with an equally scrumptious dessert. From the pub we walked to the Sac Community Theater and enjoyed 'Wicked'. Have to go back--can't stop thinking about that Irish Stew!"

  • "We love this place! High energy, very friendly staff and a fun place to meet with friends on a Friday night! Great food, wonderful drinks, we had a fantastic time. We'll be coming back often!"

  • "We came downtown early before the show "Wicked" and had picked de Vere's Irish Pub by searching the web. It was close to the theater and we walked from our parking location. The Pub was very quaint and welcoming. The staff was great and our server in particular was outstanding. The food came quickly and was delicious. We will definately return with friends. Our dinner experience made the evening even better."

  • "Great for a casual Sunday brunch. Service was prompt and friendly, noise level was fine, breakfast combinations were interesting and tasty. Bloody Marys featured enough vegetables to constitute a garden salad, but were a little sour."

  • "I brought my family here for my birthday because I knew everyone would love it. I've been here a few times before, less now that I no longer work downtown. I prefer to go for lunch or early dinner because it becomes so packed and crowded in the evenings that there is standing room only. We loved the food. There are so many food choices that it is always so hard to pick. Two of us had the Irish stew. The meat literally melts in your mouth. One had the shepherd's pie. I had a taste of it; I'm not normally fond of shepherd's pie, but this was greater. The one downside (since it is downtown) is parking. There is a pay-for-parking lot nearby (but who wants to pay). Otherwise, it can be hard to find parking within one or two blocks."

  • "My wife and I wanted to go back to DeVere's because we just got back from Dublin, Ireland. The Guiness is very good. They even had the black currant cordial that my wife loves in her Guiness. Food is excellent. Courtney was our server. She did a great job and is very attractive."

  • "My teen kids and I traveled to Sacramento with my husband who was attending a legislative conference. This pub is next door to the Residence Inn - Downtown. The location is fantastic. I had made my reservation about three weeks in advance but when we arrived, the host wanted to seat us in a very tight corner, squeezed behind a panel next to another tiny table. No way could four people could sit where the host tried to seat us. We were eventually moved to an adequate table when some guys sitting in the bar said they did not need theirs. Once we ordered, the service was great and my salmon was absolutely delicious. My kids enjoyed the Shepherd's Pie and steak and my husband loved the Irish Stew. Ambience is good. They just need more tables."

  • "Seated in the bar area-too dark-we could see our food only because we sat next to a flat screen TV One in our group of 5 arrived first and when I arrived they could not find my reservation so we had to look for our party! I would have preferred to sit in the front dining area by the window but did not have that option on the reservation form. I thought I had my sunglasses on. The food service was great and the waitress was helpful and attentive. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a "taste" of Ireland and good comfort food."

  • "Knowing it was a Friday and it would be busy I made reservations. We were seated quickly, and then completely ignored for more than 10 minutes. The waitress walked passed us several times and adverted eye contact. Another server noticed and took our orders.Once we got our order placed and food and drink arrived all was good. Great beer selections and the food is good. Many of the servers' attitudes need improvement. I hope they realize that their employee Ryan is an excellent asset. He came over several times to check on us. Apologized for our wait and as we left made sure all was well and hoped we would come again. Actually he was the only reason this is a good review. Thanks Ryan. Hope your bosses appreciate you."

  • "Only complaint: too noisy! However, it was packed with St. Party's Day partyers! I'm sure it would be quieter on a normal day. Good food, slow. Will try again"

  • "It was clear the moment we walked in that this was the place to be to start off St. Patrick's Day weekend! It was packed! We were there for dinner not to celebrate the wearing o' the green, but it was kind of fun to watch the crowd enjoying themselves! We were afraid we would be neglected as it was so difficult for the waitresses to get around, but that wasn't the case at all and we had excellent service and a great meal!"

  • "Food portions (even happy hour menu) were very generous. My friend and I could have shared a couple of dishes. The Pub is also larger inside than we expected. You just keep meandering through. Fun energy. Will be back."

  • "A group of us get together every other month for lunch. We wanted to go somewhere Irish in honor of St Patrick's Day coming up & DeVere's seemed the logical choice since it was within walking distance for us from our various work sites. The food was great and service very friendly. We'll be back."

  • "I circled the downtown area for over 20 mins for parking. Who knew? it was worth the delay. Best Reuben I have ever had and I've eaten at some of the best spots in NYC etc. Met my friend for lunch and we stayed a while. I will be back. Good brew, good food. Will definitely be back."

The waitress was very attentive and personable. Now to the food.... It was Scrumptious!!! We were SOOO full after our lovely Valentines course that they had planned out for the evening. Will DEFINATLY be going back!!"

  • "We were having trouble finding Valentine's Day reservations, but grabbed one at DeVere's at the last minute. They had an appealing special menu that included several courses and a carafe of wine. The food was good, but not great. We had a skirt steak that was tasty and well-cooked, but had mashed potatoes on the plate that were covered in a garlicky cream sauce that was somewhat overwhelming. We were in a pretty dark corner of the restaurant, and would have preferred more light. But overall, we thought it was a good value, and the service was great. Our food appeared quickly, and the servers were very attentive. The dessert was quite tasty as well."

  • "This is a nice place to eat, but remember it is a good sized two room pub, not a romantic fine dining restraunt. Clean, dark wood old library esc decore. The food was very good (sheppards pie and grilled salmon entrees) the appetizers were quite good ("this and that" cheese and meat tray with fresh irish brown bread and preserves). The dinner entree selection is not large (6 items or so) but covers the bases with one fish, chicken, beef, and a few comfort food entrees like Irish stew and the aforementioned Shepards, pie not a large selection, but certainly sufficiant. The service was very timely and pleasant. Would definatately return for a casual dinner out. This would be a great lunch spot I'm sure as well."

  • "De Vere's restaurant is great for a night out on the town, first date or future dates, out to hang with friends and watch the game. The atmosphere will take you back to being in Ireland in an Irish Pub. The services is good and warm. But noise in the place varies depending what is on the muted sports TVs. The food is not your everyday bar food, with unique dishes such as Lamb Sliders and traditional Bangers and Mash this place does put a now flare on some old classics. The price per person is roughly around $20 that includes meal and beverage. I have gone back many time and tried different entrees, appitizers and so on from this restaurant and each time I had no complaints."

  • "Couldn't get reservations to my first and second choices of restaurants, so we gave DeVere's a try. So glad we did because everything was outstanding. We were seated immediately and the service was attentive the entire time. We both had a Guiness on tap and shared the starter "This and That" - a board containing olives, Brie, fig jam, Irish cheddar, meats, pickled veg, berries, crackers and Irish brown bread - so good. Our entrees followed, Irish Stew, and Bangers and Mash. Both were excellent. Everything was topped off with Irish Coffees for dessert - best I've had. On top of this, prices were really reasonable. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Enjoyed a pint of Harps. Reminded us of our trip to Ireland. Good location for before theater early dinner. Unfortunately we had to seat by a large group with four very loud women which made it difficult to carry on a conversation. Good waiter!"

  • "Made a reservation with Open Table. Got voicemail about an hour beforehand that they wouldn't be open. They did offer an earlier time, but I received the call after the time available and it wouldn't have worked anyway since it was a family event with folks coming from different cities. Bottom line: no reservation, no dinner, no family visit."
