Two bottles of wine were highlighted on a table flier. We asked the server the cost, and he replied $15. We ordered one bottle and to our surprise, when the tab arrived, the $15 turned into $76. Miscommunication or misrepresentation? Also for our small party of 5, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to each of our bills. And yes, the 20% was also charged on the bottle of wine!

The food was quite good but I went in a group of 3 ordered a bunch of tapas and they brought out all of our tapas all at once..... A pet pieve of mine as proper tapas are supposed to be served once at a time in an order that makes sense to the chef/server!

Visited Columbus last weekend and stumbled across De Novo. My first visit was so good I went back two nights later and with a very different experience. The first visit with 2 family members was great - the food was super, the service great, the drinks well done. The second visit with 2 friends (to whom I raved about De Novo) was so-so. The food was average, the service slow and scattered, and our waiter seemed confused by our questions on beer, wine and cocktails. Hopefully, that second visit just represented the proverbial "off night" for what is an otherwise really good restaurant.

This is a restaurant I picked because not only did I want to enjoy fine dining but I also wanted to be able to say that I truly tried something different. I can now say that not only did I try Kangaroo and Rabbit for the first time, but I truly enjoyed it! The only disppointing factor was that I was unable to try the Camel during my visit. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant time and time again. Thank you for bringing a unique dining experience to Columbus, Ohio.

Service was excellent. We were headed to the symphony and the restaurant valet kept the car til it was over. Very convenient.

We were having sinner with a couple from out of town, so being able to hear and catch up was our highest priority. We were able to get a quiet table in the back room, and it made our evening really enjoyable. The service was outstanding. Everyone liked their entrees, though I would like a few more appetizer choices. Great to see a restaurant open downtown on a Saturday night. We'll be back!

My boyfriend and I have been coming to de novo for 2 years. We love the menu changes, although it may be a bit overpriced. On our last visit he got the pork chop. Our food came out, the pork chop looked cooked on the outside but was completely raw on the inside. It took about 10 minutes to find someone to take the food back and actually cook it. With little apologies they did. Meanwhile I had completely finished my meal. So $120 bill later while both of us ended up eating by ourselves- we were not given a discount or his meal for free. Serving completely raw pork is disgusting and we will not be returning to de novo again.

We visited DeNovo as part of Farm to Table week, and I ordered the steak. Although I ordered it medium rare, when served it was a very thick and narrow cut served extremely rare. I sent it back and it returned in the same condition. Besides being improperly cooked, the meat itself had no flavor, but relied on the sauce to sell it. The salad and dessert were good, but didn't make up for an inedible main course. We won't return.

My husband and I had a fabulous date night at De Novo! Great and easy valet service, as well as delightful service from the staff. Our server was attentive and sweet and allowed us a large table with a great view of the outside. The food was amazing-kangaroo, pork and grits, alligator tacos, prime rib sandwich, and chocolate terrine-each course was wonderful! Additionally the bar provided great cocktails for dinner and dessert! What a great evening-we cannot wait to go back!!!

Wow what a great experiences! My boyfriend and I found de Novo while exploring Restaurant Week. But we ordered more than what was just on the Restaurant Week menu. They have an array of different kinds of exotic meat from alligator to kangaroo all tasted delicious. The service was fabulous as well our server was very educated on the menu and was able to recommend a great wine to pair with our meal. The ambiance was very romantic. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for an interesting yet delightful romantic night out on the town.

We had high hopes for this place, but left very disappointed. Went with wife and myself and wanted a nice dinner before a concert. We had reservations. We passed several nice booths to be seated in a row of tables right next to two other parties. why stack everyone up on top of each other? Waitress that we had was not the most pleasant. everything we asked had a comment that I thought was not right (The chief is making us charge.., If you want more bread, I can't bring that, but will bring you normal bread.., Oh, that isn't supposed to be on the plate, but oh well). Kicker is they up-charged us to have a steak made a certain way for my wife and the steak was smaller then the one that I had ordered. Same cut. Disappointed!

I have had good meals at both lunch and dinner. Although I usually sit at a bar only when there are no tables, the bar scene looked lively. The room is way over decorated for my taste, but the lights are kept low so you can easily overlook it. My most recent lunch was an ahi tuna starter which was fresh and nicely seasoned. My three lunch companions all enjoyed their meals. This is a nice addition to the downtown.

Upon our arrival, we were seated in an empty back room of the restaurant (despite many tables open in the main dining space) and assured that it would fill up as they had many reservations. The next table was seated as our desserts were served, so the majority of our meal was spent in an uncomfortably empty room. Our server (Justin) was impeccable - polite, extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and perfect amount of funny without being overbearing in the least. He helped is navigate the cocktail list and paired our fingers with wine very well. The food was the biggest disappointment. Hard to point to anything specific, but the meal lacked any depth or finesse. There are much better meals to be had at any number of restaurants in the area.

I met a friend there for dinner before a show. The seafood pasta was great, so were the fried green tomatoes. the service was fabulous, and there were few people there - so I would expect that. But knowing Vonn's standards, I expect fabulous service! the decor is relaxing and we had plenty of time to walk the few blocks to the theatre.

They were out of three kinds of wine we ordered. They were out of three menu items and out mussels for the sea food pasta. Three strikes.....And when I ordered the recommended chicken trio it was served under cooked. We should have known that when the manager is apologizing before the first glass of wine is poured, the dining experience was going to be bad.

My friend and I went to De Novo for an early dinner before a CATCO play reading. It was nice to be able to order off a bar menu. Her burger was great and my Chicken Club delicious. Our server was very accommodating and was ready with non-spicy Catsup. The last time my husband and I went before a show, the entire Princeton Hockey team showed up, and the kitchen was not able to serve us dinner because they were so busy. This was a totally different experience.

We've been frequenting De Novo for a few months now and we love it. I love the decor and music. Staff is always friendly. Food is fantastic. My only complaint is the portion sizes seem to have gotten smaller recently. The half serving of parmesan fries we were served last Sunday was not cool, not at those prices. The prices are reasonable for the quality of food, but not the portion sizes. My daughter ordered $20 truffle mac & cheese and the serving was ridiculously small. Other than that I love this place. I'm told the owner also use to own Vonn Jazz Lounge which I loved and was hurt when it closed because there's nothing else like it in Columbus.

We had reservations on a busy night----Gallery Hop and Arts Fest, Hip Hop fest, etc. were all going on simultaneously. Even with traffic and road construction (going on Saturday night!), the valet, manager, and servers all worked together to get everyone's car in and out. The bar was hopping, with all the foot traffic and downtown activities. We met several people from out of town, ran into people we knew, and even said hello to Mayor Coleman who had dinner there. Needless to say, we had fun. Unfortunately, we didn't have the chance to sample much food, since some of our friends urged us to have dinner elsewhere! We did have the foie gras appetizer, which was perfect. The bartenders were gracious and attentive. Manager David was awesome.
