Diner Reviews
  • "DC Coast has been a meeting place for sometime. My friends and I enjoy the food, waiters & waitress, as well as the location and atmosphere! It is truly a warm and welcoming spot. This pass occasion was very special because we had not seen each other for 4 years. We had a great time. Good food and wonderful company equals great time!"

  • "Our dinner plans fell through at the last minute and I jumped on Open table and found DC Coast. Got a reservation right away, walked a few blocks over and had a great experience. Can't think of a better place to go on a Saturday night in DC for an amazing dinner... Food was spectacular! Service was great!"

  • "Looked for a restaurant within walking distance of our hotel, for a business dinner. Made a reservation for 4 for 6:30pm, on a Saturday. The restaurant was not busy. Wine by the glass, 1 appetizer, 4 entrees, 2 desserts, with tip, totaled $400.00+. Service was good but waited a long time for the second glass of wine. I do not know if the bar is slow or the wait staff was spread too thin. The menu is limited and tries to be every "in". The food was good but not exceptional. If you are looking for a "white table cloth" type of restaurant where you can actually have a conversation and can hear the person opposite you, then this is an option. I am not experienced enough with the area to know if there was a better option nearby."

  • "Your menu for your 16th was FANTASTIC! Our entire group ordered the wine pairing one and we all thought it was delicious!"

  • "Friends highly recommended DC Coast and we were not disappointed. In fact, we went back for a 2nd night! Every dish was perfectly cooked. The Chinese lobster, crabcakes and watermelon soup were particularly standouts. And Jeanine was a delight. Her knowledge of the menu and ingredients were excellent, not to mention her wonderful personality."

  • "Goal: find the best crab cake in DC. Found: Tower of Crab at DC Coast. Success. Not only was the crab cake amazing, it was served atop a perfectly executed soft shell crab. My niece never having either, was in heaven. I confirmed that they indeed were fantastic! The Corn bisque was also incredibe! Our server was attentive despite being on the upper level of the restaurant- cheerful each time he made the climb. It was a special dinner to top off a wonderful visit to DC."

  • "Amazing food, served by delightful engaged staff who enjoy what they do and are great at it. Staff have sixth sense about business meetings and know just when to interrupt unobtrusively. Get the gumbo!"

  • "Elegantly prepared food and a perfect recommendation for wine. Attentive service, but not overbearing. I celebrated my birthday here and couldn't have asked for a better experience."

  • "This was my first visit to DC Coast this year. Food and service were both good. One issue was that the bread seemed stale."

  • "We dined at DC Coast Friday evening after work. The fixed price menu looked so yummy we all ordered it. The oyster with the ginger mignonette was perfection, followed by a tower of a perfectly battered soft shell crab topped with a tiny crab cake, followed by the perfectly cooked bite of halibut and ending with a chocolate bombe. The menu was perfection! Our server Jamie was a delight. We love coming here because the food and atmosphere are always first class."

  • "I met up with a friend and husband who were visiting the city. DC Coast was the perfect type of restaurant where we were able to catch up without yelling while dining on delicious fish and seafood and good wine. I will be back."

  • "Food was delicious! The soft shell crab on the crab tower was the best I have ever had. Crab cake was also good but surprisingly it had a few shells in it. All 4 of us enjoyed every bite of our dinners. Chocolate bomb dessert was just that - the bomb! Yum. "

  • "The food was very good. I really enjoyed my dinner. The rest was okay. The restaurant felt a little tired and the service, while enthusiastic, was okay. But I'd go back because we had such lovely food. That surprised me because the feeling in the restaurant didn't match the food. "

  • "DC Coast is an excellent restaurant. This is the second time I have been there, and it was as perfect as was the first time. I will recommend DC Coast to my friend and coworkers."

  • "My soft-shell crab was indifferent, heavy on the batter, overcooked, tasteless, swamped in bland sauce. The sorbet was pretty good."

  • "We went to DC Coast to celebrate our daughters Commissioning into the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant and the experience did not disappoint. We had a extremely delicious dinner and the chef even accommodated my less then adventurous 13 year old daughter. Our server made the whole experience a night we will remember forever !! Thank you DC Coast for always being a restaurant we can count on :)"

  • "We have never been disappointed at D.C. Coast. The food is always delicious and the service superb. Because they regularly change their menu, the selections always remain interesting and enticing. We took a friend from Australia here and she was overwhelmed with how wonderful everything was. If in season, get their crab dishes, which is what we all enjoyed this time around."

  • "Visiting the capitol for the weekend and found this little gem. The food was great, the service was fantastic and even though we were in our day clothes (too far to go back to the hotel to change) DC Coast made us feel very welcome. By the time we got there the patio was full but it looked fun. "

  • "Everything was perfect at DC Coast. The food was absolutely delicious! Every dish came out perfectly. There are a lot of classic dishes and then some dishes with very unique twists (like kim chi mashed potatoes! Yum!). The service was great and they were so responsive to everything. My family really had a great time. Thank you DC Coast! "

  • "Had a lovely lunch with my family. We were looking for something close to my office that took reservations and had a diverse selection for our crowd. The asparagus soup was perfection, the salad was divine and the po'boy was lovely. My son had the cat fish fingers and ate every last one. He's a little over a year and the wait staff was incredibly attentive. They have highchairs and got us seated immediately. "

  • "I took my wife and daughter here for Mother's Day. My wife has said so many times that she wanted to go to D.C. Coast. So I surprised her. The service, Jeanine, was exceptional. Jeanine loves her job and you can tell from her exuberance and knowledge of the menu. Food, no complaints. I had crab cakes, all meat. My wife had a special, halibut. And my daughter had salmon. Both perfectly cooked. My daughter didn't even have to tell them how to cook salmon; medium. If any cons, for big eater like me, LOL, the two 3 oz crab cakes, weren't enough. Jeanine made a great wine suggestion for my wife, Cashmere. "

  • "Food was good but the wait for service was long and the noise level was high. The food is expensive and not necessarily special but it is tasty. Overall, I think the restaurant is expensive for what you get."

  • "DC Coast was a fabulous experience. We were greeted at the bar by Jeremy, perhaps the best bartender I've met in years. His approach, personality and welcoming grace were fantastic. Our meal was superb, as was the atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant for any special occasion that arises. I can't wait to return to Washington so I can dine at DC Coast again "

  • "The food was great. The service was great as well. The environment was pretty upscale. It kind of made me feel out of place when the waiter(s) continued to ask about wine and then seemed shocked when we informed them we did not drink. Other than that it was a nice place but obviously geared towards the older and a little over middle class crowd. "

  • "We had an absolutely amazing dinner here! The food was probably the best we had ever had! The appetizer crabcake was the best thing we had ever tasted with the most amazing quality crab in it! Wine was perfect and excellent and the main course was to die for! I had the chef's special which was wild alaskan salmon and it was the best salmon I had ever tasted! My friend had the pork chops and it was the absolute best meal ever as well! "

  • "DC Coast is a highly dependable restaurant for a reasonably quick business lunch. Service is prompt and helpful without hovering, the food is very good, healthy options and well-prepared. Good central location. I often order two appetizers. The DC Coast salad is wnderful and can be ordered in a 1/2 side. Added benefit are small treats the chef often brings at the end of the meal even if you don't order dessert. "

  • "I'm a fan of DC Coast. The food there is always creative and delicious and this time was no exception. However, we were a party of 7 during busy lunchtime and the service was, at best, slow and disappointing. Yes, the place was full and lively (and a fun place to be, actually) but it really seemed that there was not enough wait staff. We were there to honor our admin assistants and the celebration was a bit dimmed by the slooooooooow quality of the service. Excellent food made up for it a bit but DC Coast has done better before. "

  • "Although DC Coast is a very pretty place the food is less than desirable. I had a steak and ordered it "black and blue". It came out medium well. They gladly replaced it and even though it still was not cooked perfectly, I ate it. The steak was chewy- fatty and not of good quality. Good status it was also covered with an unnecessary sweet sauce. The wine list is nice and the service was very good."

  • "I work near DC Coast and use it for client lunches quite often. It is convenient. The food is always good to great. The service is very good and the servers always attentive. I highly recommend you give it a try. You will not be disappointed. "

  • "DC Coast was recommended by a friend and it didn't disappoint. I hosted a business dinner and the service was excellent, but the food was outstanding. The wine list was pretty short for a restaurant of this quality but that is the only downside I can recall. I immediately marked this on my "favorites" list."

  • "DC Coast has been around a while, but it still turns out a solid dinner and an enjoyable evening. Good service and Martina was very good. Great wine list and a deep menu. Got the grilled swordfish and had it blackened. As good as you can get! Nice atmosphere with just enough "buzz" to make you feel like you were in a good restaurant."

  • "My fiance and I wanted to enjoy a romantic dinner. That is what we got at DC Coast. I ordered the Maine Diver Scallops. They were cooked to perfection! He ordered the Roasted Chicken and enjoyed it as well. The ambiance was great. The view was nice from upstairs. Service was excellent as well. I will definitely return for another treat."

  • "Once again we were delighted. We knew DC Coast would live up to expectations and indeed pleasantly exceeded them. The ladies ordered crab soup which was presented in two portions, one with backfin crab and succotash, the other a pitcher of luscious spicy tomato broth, peas and carrots. Brought together in an oh so grand fashion by a pouring over thereby maintaining the crab meat's delicate texture and flavor to the minute before reaching the lips and tongue. This redefines crab soup! Thinking light, we followed with crab and avocado salad. Small bits of red onion and cilantro with a hint of lemon mayonnaise retained the light delicate taste we desired. Paired with French sauvignon, so sublime. Gents devoured hamburgers. Fab food!"
