Diner Reviews
  • "Had a very early reservation, seated a few min late; staff was still having their meeting prior to the evening rush. Food was very fresh and tasty, had the Petite Plateau raw seafood plate for 2, salad and a double sausage dish. Our server was wonderful, very attentive. Our seafood and salad came out almost immediately, then we waited an inordinately long time for our sausage dishes to come out - apparently there was some mishap/mixup in the kitchen. Our server and the manager came over and apologized twice for the wait - then sent us a side of broccoli and ramps, and also a dessert - gratis... We did appreciate that very much. Would come back and try more of the dishes."

  • "food is great, both kids and adults love them. The service is outstanding. waitresses are willing to help us for directions. The only problem we have is they don't open for lunch during weekdays."

  • "Winners among what we tried: beaujolais sausage, roasted beets (really excellent even if you're not a HUGE beet fan), cherry beer sundae, steak tartare, charcuterie. Also the bread is really fantastic. Top-notch creative food in a relaxed environment. Music is loud but reasonably so. AC can get high in the back, bring a sweater!"

  • "We had an absolutely wonderful meal and service. The one order got confused and was served the beef instead of the lamb - but the diner thoroughly enjoyed the change. I would go back in a heartbeat and would recommend to to all foodies! And non foodies"

  • "Solid beer list and excellent food. A great place for foodies to go casual especially if you your meat eater."

  • "I've come here often for lunch meetings as it is near my office, but this was my first visit for dinner. the pre-fixe menu is such a great option. one of our party was a vegetarian and the waitress and kitchen were very accommodating to her meal requests from the start. Everyone in the group had a delicious meal, cocktails, wine & desserts. another wonderful experience."

  • "Both the bar staff and servers were knowledgable about the extensive drinks menu. The waiter was honest about portions and helped us order just the right amount of food to share. We were sharing a burger and they brought it to us cut in quarters which saved us untold amounts of mess. All of the food was delicious and memorable."

  • "The bartender and hostess were accommodating, low pressure, and lovely. The ambience was interesting, in a good way, and I loved seeing the pots of famous chefs around the room. On my reservation, I noted that one of the participants was gluten free, which was not acknowledged by anyone. Our server, although pleasant enough, was clueless about everything. She did not understand "gluten free," regardless of how many times we tried to explain. As it turned out, the dressing for the salad I ordered had gluten in it, and the only other option was oil and vinegar without herbs. If we wanted water or a drink we had to literally wave our hands around because eye contact was not an option. Overall, a disappointing experience."

  • "We, six of us, sat outside as it was too cold (heavy AC) and noisy inside. Service was excellent, burgers and sausages were great, wine list was decent (have not seen Cornalin on a wine list very often). Overall a good experience. Will definitely go back sometime."

  • "Arrived for a 7:45 reservation. Was told table was not ready so took one of the many open tables in the bar area. Took a while for waiter to arrive - when he did he finally took our drink order. Meanwhile several other parties arrived. They were all served their entrees before our appetizers arrived. Waiter apologized when appetizers finally came out saying "there was a problem in the kitchen." Even with this warning, our entrees did not come out for 30 mins more. This placed used to be spot on, but seems a bit tired now. Food just ok. Service mediocre. It was Father's Day so there were some big parties with kids, which made noise level pretty bad. Overall unpleasant."

  • "The service and the food never disappoint. My fourth time to eat there and I've tried brunch, lunch and diviner. I like the chop chop salad, fried calamari, steak tartare, croque monsieur, the piggy burger, the salmon, and the baked Alaska."

  • "The first thing you notice when you walk in is the friendly host. The fab industrial decor - Our waiter Thomas gets 10 out of 10. We changed our order after looking at other dishes coming to other tables and it wasn't a problem. We couldn't decide what we wanted from a diverse menu - daily prefix to the regular prefix and the main etc. It was my first time and i will be back for the Whole Hog. We had Fluke Ceviche/Sausage/Seafood platter which had Periwinkles and Welk which you don't find everywhere. The staff here have genuine personalities and obviously love what they do. That's a key on top of the amazing food and service. Check out the beer/cider/wines/Champagnes/Sparklings. Ask to be seated at Thomas' table."

  • "This is my second time here and I enjoyed the food even more this time round. The sausage dishes were wonderful and interesting. We were a group of 4 who came here on my recommendation and DBGB did not disappoint. Portions were just right and presentation of the food was unpretentious. Would definitely come here again if I'm in town."

  • "Our first night in NY and we had been recommended this restaurant, we had a booth got seated and then were virtually forgotten . Service was appalling and ruined our night . It will certainly be off our recommendations list ,good chefs must maintain their standard of food and also their service , too many good places on Ny to waste time at somewhere ordinary ."

  • "My only criticism was that is so very hot in the back of the restaurant but they were totally accommodating and moved us up to the front. Food was outstanding, ambiance fun, totally would go back!"

  • "I have been trying all top restaurants in NY. I go back to the good ones, but skip the so-so next time. DBGB provided some great pasta, but the green salad was no taste whatsoever, which was surprising. The waiter told me that was an old item and gave me a Beet salad for free, which is a very nice gesture. If they are re-evaluate their menus and keep the good ones and add better dishes, I'd like to go back."

  • "Very lively spot, especially weeknights, but the food, for me, is the reason to go. I also greatly appreciate that the servers try to be so accommodating. The most "informal" of the Boulud empire is still head and shoulders above most else. Definitely recommend it."

  • "This will be a staple each time we visit NY. Fantastic variety of sausages...we especially loved the Thai sausage on top of basil rice. The frenchie burger was delicious, but above all, the service and sommelier were outstanding. Friendly and unpretentious service, great wine selection, and fantastic food! Definitely let the sommelier do his thing and pair your meal and dishes. You'll be in for a full-service treat if you do so! "

  • "I went to DBGB with my family (mom, dad, aunt, 94-year-old grandma) and a friend. Our reservation was early and we were sat immediately in the dining room. It was a great casual, yet refined atmosphere. The menu is great for groups and the sausages (Beaujolais and Chipolata) kind of stole the show. The burgers were good - but not particularly noteworthy, even with a layer of confit pork belly. The beer menu, on the other hand, is outstanding. Great options of all varieties with an emphasis on German styles. The desserts were completely forgettable and disappointing. I would definitely return with my family (probably not on my own or with a friend), however I would make some changes to my order. "

  • "This is probably my fifth time at DBGB, this time on a busy Saturday night. Everything was perfect. Were seated on time, very attentive service and wonderful food. Have had memorable experiences here whether in a group or as a couple. Keep up the good work."

  • "Made reservations for a late night dinner on Saturday with fiance and we were both very impressed with everything from the moment we walked in. The place is huge and well decorated with plenty of spacious seating. Service was top notch, food was deeelicious, great ambiance, and the pricing on the menu was not bad at all. Yes the noise level (due to the numbe r of patrons in the large space) made it a bit difficult to hear one another, but we would not hesitate to return again with friends or just the two of us."

  • "Most amazing sausages made on premises. I don't consider myself a sausage lover but these were fantastic. We order 8 different sausages and shared them between us. Great way to do it as the flavours of all are really good."

  • "Food is good, but they are quite stingy serving the glasses of wine, which is a bit underwhelming. "

  • "Pretty good overall. Noise level is a bit high, which was fine since there was a decent sized group of us and we were going out drinking later, and getting a head start at dinner. Food is good, highlight is the sausage. The Beaujolais and duck/pork belly special were both fantastic. Some friends got the steak and short rib, which wasn't bad but portions were small and taste didn't measure IP to the sausage. Had a complimentary beet salad which was also quite good."

  • "Really enjoyed our meal here. Restaurant staff were knowledgeable with food and drink pairing. Had my first stout and it was great. "

  • "Another winning restaurant in Daniel Boulud's empire, this one casual and moderately priced. The seductive menu combines comfort food with more adventurous options efficiently served in a steely but attractive decor. One complaint: raucous Muzak makes conversation difficult."

  • "Three guests celebrating a recent professional achievement in the middle of the week. It was pretty noisy, though I think most of that was due to the bar noise overflowing into the dining room. Dark colors, comfortable booth seats. We had several sausages (I specifically remember the blood sausage), and they sent out a small plate of duck hearts, which were fantastic. Steak Frites was delicious and juicy, though a touch overcooked (I will grant that I like mine black/blue, which I find difficult to obtain dining out). Sommelier was very helpful in recommending a wine that suited our varied tastes and our menu."

  • "We went there to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. What attracted me to choose this place for the special occasion was not only because it was one of Daniel Boulud's but that it had different varieties of beer and sausage, which are some of his favorites! It was very nice and the ambience was great! A definite recommend!"
