DBGBOutstandingEverything was outstanding - the food, the drinks, the service. Our five year old loved it too. We are already looking forward to returning.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost greatThe host and bar staff were friendly knowledgeable and helpful. The food was very good overall with some high points and some low. The downfall for me was our waiter who repeatedly walked away when we were ordering and forgot items that we did order, maybe he was overwhelmed. Great cocktails and beer selection.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAn open kitchen restaurantAn open kitchen restaurant suitable for a date night or a large group. Get the whole hog!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBDay party of 12 was great! We celebrated my birthday there this weekend, I must say that everything was superb! The food, the drinks, quick service and great location! Def going back!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat placeWe really loved DBGB's; expected it to be overrated but the menu was great, lots of choices across the board and all the food we had we truly fabulous. Go with the chop chop salad and the tuna credo and of course try the house made sausages! Excellent beer menu. Highly recommend but it is noisy -- though in a good way as it is spacious and designed really nicely. If you have a group of 6 or more get an alcove booth; that looked great for a group.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner!!!I celebrated my 31st birthday at DBGD, and I had the best experience. The appetizers where great (lamb sausage link) and the entrée (the lamb) was even better. Cant forget about dessert... I was great!!! Being a graduate from the French Culinary Institute, the food was presented and prepared the correct way.
I will recommend this place to everyone I know.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and serviceThe food was delicious. I ordered the DBGB Lobster Roll and the Mymi's Rhubarb Tart. My husband ordered the Scottish Salmon and the Baked Alaska. I cannot say a single negative comment about the food or the service. I highly recommend this restaurant.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service and foodI ordered the steak on prix fixe menu and it was excellent. Oysters were fresh with raspberry vinaigrette. some Gem missing fava beans. Stuffed squid could have had more flavor. The drinks were very expensive. Pistachio Meyer lemon sundae was excellent as was Chocolate coffee sundae.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall a great experience.Overall a great experience. The bartender had a great personality and was awesome!!
Food was excellent and the details of service were good too. I wish the server had a little more personality and/or talked to the table. She was an order taker and didn't engage at all...6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the brunchFabulous Bloody Mary, delicious food. What more can you ask for!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently GoodThe food here is always interesting and well-executed. Some chefs make me nervous when they combine unusual or even just a lot of ingredients. Without great culinary skills and a willingness to carefully taste and modify dishes, you can end up with the equivalent of a hot mess. At DBGB I can relax and order almost anything on the menu. Even simple dishes can be extraordinary. Our mango sorbet (made with Ataulfa mangos?) was the best I have ever had and I have tasted this dish in many tropical locales. Prices are reasonable, making this one of our faves in NYC.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMDecent BurgersThe drinks here are strong and flavorful. We had the three burgers and they were all great with the exception of the yankee. Not that it was bad, it was just you run of the mill burger with lettuce and tomato. Not a bad thing, just straight forward. Burgers were made to order and they were juicy and tasty. The fries were cooked to perfection but could use a little less salt. We also had the pigs foot, which they deboned for you and comes deep fried in bread crumbs. It was delicious, tender meat, nice gelatinous fat you expect from a pigs foot. The staff was quick and attentive. Our glass of water never reached the half way point before someone fill the glass. Out waiter was very helpful with suggesting one of their signature cocktails.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMMajor uncle pointsTook our nice and nephew and their respective love interests for dinner. Scored major uncle points. Great beer selection and wonderful sausages. the blood/head cheese sausage had the most intense flavor I've experience in a long time.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing valueI really liked the vibe
Outstanding beer selections, phenomenal sausages
And cery down to earth service5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMeclectic treatthe calamari was delicious, light and crispy with a sauce not too sweet and just the right amount of tang. even though i was not in the mood for sausage, we tried a smoky pork one since it seemed to be a specialty here. i was glad we tried it and i will come back to try more since they have a nice variety and selection. it did taste homemade and lentils were a nice accompaniment. the duck duo was beautifully done. honestly, i came for the baked alaska and it did not disappoint. the menu said it was a dessert for two, but it could have fed four. now i know what baked alaska is, a cool treat.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great ambiance...Great food, great ambiance... nice to see the kitchen! Fantastic and different sausages and yummy desserts5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food all aroundCame in with a big group and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Ordered the prix fixe dinner- garlic and potato soup; sausage duo; coffee chocolate sundae. Nicely plated, delicious all around. The meal had some surprising flavors including the potato and lentils with the sausage, and marzipan in the sundae. Atmosphere was dark and sophisticated. We sat in a booth and it was very comfortable. I would recommend this restaurant.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMenu shinesThe sausages are the star of this restaurant, but the rest of the menu is phenomenal too.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNice and freshNice and fresh best describes the food. Not really a fish place so if you really want fish, maybe another place would be better. Not that it's bad just not as good as everything else.
We would go back again !!!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great experienceI go to DBGB every time I'm in New York. I've been to Boulud's restaurants in London, Toronto and Vegas but this has always been my favourite, even though it's probably the most casual of the bunch. The lobster roll is to die for, and the hot dog is always popular with my friends (and at only $12, surprisingly affordable). On my last trip to New York, DBGB was such a hit that my friends and I went to dinner there on Friday night and ended up returning for lunch the following week because everyone loved it so much. (With so many amazing restos in NYC, I rarely repeat -- and never on the same trip!) And the service is so amazing that when we mentioned to our server that it was a return visit for us, he gave us a free round of champagne.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMDBGB did not disappointMade last minute reservations on a Friday evening without any problems. Great place to catch up with friends as the noise level is where you can actually hear one another. Service was very good too. Our waiter was attentive and polite, yet not overly attentive to the point where they bother you every minute. Food was delicious. I went for the sausages and those also did not disappoint. Meat was perfectly cooked and still moist, not greasy and fatty. I'm looking forward to planning my next party there and ordering the HOG.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!The food was amazing, the service was exceptional and the ambience was lovely. We had a wonderful time! Daniel Boulud never fails.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMone night in new yorkI had one night in new york and a strong recommendation to go to DGBG.
I was thrilled, as was my colleague.
The food was amazing..... great beer list and wine pairings.
I'd go back again.... and again... and again.
PS - loved the pots!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent! As usual...I come here to eat whenever I'm in town. Never fails. Great place, great food and great service.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday BrunchI brought my boyfriend here for brunch and he loved every bite and so did I! Lovely place, we will definitely come back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter an initially poor seatAfter an initially poor seat assignment (notwithstanding an early reservation), we were offered a change and thereafter the dining experience soared. Kudos to the manager handling the dining room, who remained cool as a cucumber in the face of an annoyed patron under Mother's Day Brunch conditions.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMbirthday party funWe came to NYC from Vancouver with a group of friends. This place fit the bill for a big group -- fun, good food, and lots of wine. Well priced too.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meat placeGreat burgers, great sausages, good prices and trendy restaurant. Very good service level.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGenerally solid experienceHad dinner with two work colleagues on a Wednesday night. We had a vegetarian, a beer snob, and a wine drinker. All were satisfied (even the vegetarian at this sausage-centric kitchen). Attentive service that knew when to pay attention and when to leave us be.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat placebeen coming here for years. Great spot for groups and highly recommend to any foodie4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe fixed brunch menu is aThe fixed brunch menu is a great deal, and with a top notch Bloody Mary to wash it all down, this is a new favorite! Service staff were gracious and super attentive. I'll be back!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMCovers all bases. Good drinks,Covers all bases. Good drinks, good for small snacks, full meals or large events and it does it all with DB aplomb.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service. Though busyGreat service. Though busy allowed us to talk and enjoy our guests without rushing us along. excellent wait staff - personal and energetic and knowledgeable waiter. brilliant and tasty sauces. interesting set up to restaurant with stations placed throughout dining area. Would definitely recommend.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect lunch spot in the cityWow!! That's all I can say.
Everything was perfect. And they gave us complimentary desert for our anniversary!!!
Not sure if you can find a better burger and fries anywhere. And the spicy Dijon sauce for the fries was insane!!!
Can't wait to come back.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently delicious andConsistently delicious and always great for lunch meetings. wonderful service, food & atmosphere.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI thought the food was a greatI thought the food was a great value but the cocktails a poor value; we tried 4 and only truly enjoyed 1 of them, while all food items that we got (particularly the burgers and ice cream) were very enjoyable.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing array of choices,Amazing array of choices, best "hot dogs & burgers", fun drinks, great time4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGirl's brunchThe restaurant was very nice. A lot of good food and nice service4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, fantasticExcellent food, fantastic service, in a very lively but fun atmosphere. The seafood plateau was terrific. The burgers great. The Bloody Mary's were excellent--fresh horseradish makes a real difference--and the muscadet was one of the best I've ever had. Megan was superb at taking care of our group--thank you! The only complaint--minor and fixed immediately both times it has come up-- is that the hot fudge on the ice cream was really skimpy when it came out, which we thought was odd for such a generous and welcoming place.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMeat lover's dream.Food and service was great. The decor is very chic and the crowd is young and hip. Best to share lots of small plates. Amazing wine list. The sommelier was extremely nice and very helpful.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Food & BuzzThis was my first visit to DBGB and I will be going back soon. The food was amazing, the piggy burger was out of this world and the Thai sausage captured every single favour you would expect to find in a Thai dish. I don't know how they do it but you have to try it to know what I'm taking about. The dinning room is very good, large and buzzy with a great ambiance, what a would call a real NY restaurant.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday dinner at DGBGWe had a family (7 people) birthday dinner, including two grandchildren, both boys, one 13 and one 10. The server could not have been more obliging, arranging for absolutely plain cheeseburgers and fries for the boys and providing a seemingly endless supply of sodas.
We liked the seating which is set up for maximum privacy yet no crowding.
All the adults thought the menu was really interesting with a number of items that you don't see everywhere - the roasted carrot salad was particularly good. We would definitely go back.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best restaurantsOne of the best restaurants in east village.
Always looking forward next dinner, lunch or breakfast at DBGB!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for our first time andWent for our first time and had some very well prepared, satisfying food. I had the Boudin Basque sausage and the Frenchie, my wife had the Matzo ball soup. All of the dishes were executed nicely, all of them tasted very good, with the Frenchie having a particularly funky, different flavor. The design of the place is great, a sort of emphatic dark vibe with warm touches (the copper pots and bottles of wine). Service was relatively impersonal and unengaged, but efficient and straightforward. It's an excellent place to go, not least because it's actually reasonably easy to get in unlike so many other overhyped NY restaurants. Be careful though--with drinks the bill can add up quickly.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMTheir food is delicious.Their food is delicious. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMScrumptiousRecently had dinner here when visiting NYC. Made reservations for a Sunday night a few days before and met local friends. They had been to DBGB before and liked it. The mussels were divine, burgers great and cod with risotto delicious. We requested a "half" sundae for dessert and were readily accommodated. Nearly had a stroke at the final bill but we were in NYC and there it was relatively modest pricing. Server was a bit neglectful but not awful. Overall a really good experience.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great Boulud restaurantThis was my third time at DBGB. As usual, the food and service were superb. It's a huge space and very lively, so it's not for quiet conversation or romance, but my friend and I had a good, large table near the open kitchen where we could watch the entertaining activity of the chefs turning out the inventive and delicious dishes. I don't know if it's quieter in an off-hour, but we were there for brunch at 12:15 and, although there were many tables empty at the front of the house, the middle and back spaces were filled with couples and large groups all in a party mood. There were families with young children, but all were well-behaved. Many of the dishes are difficult to find elsewhere, so you are never stuck with boring choices.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA hip place with an interesting,A hip place with an interesting, well priced menu. Sausage choices are eclectic and frites are great.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe are long time New YorkersWe are long time New Yorkers and we had an out-of-town guests, a senior in high school, and his warm and extroverted aunt. The restaurant was perfect for a lively evening with such a diverse group....and the burgers were fabulous!
At first I thought sitting next to the kitchen was a real put down but it turned out we all got absorbed in the fascinating dishes coming out...pigs head et al.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMto submit this "review" thoughto submit this "review" though we did not make it to the restaurant (see below) i have check boxes that do no apply4/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
